This place is awesome. It's basically a supermarket JUST for computer-related equipment, and stocks all kinds of parts and accessories your typical office supply or electronics store won't carry. The sales staff is more knowledgeable as well. With Micro Center, I can just walk down there and pick up whatever I need, instead of having to order it online and waiting. read more

I'm generally not the biggest fan of Microcenter, though they do have hard to resist sales more often than not, so I find myself going to one of the 3 NYC area stores fairly often. Out of the 3 area stores, this one is by far my favorite. Unfortunately, it is also the farthest from me, but I still make the trek whenever I can. The employees are usually cheerful and helpful, the store is well organized and stocked, and I can get in and out in reasonable amounts of time. The salespeople do work on a commission basis, but I've never had to deal with up-sell hassles, except for extended warranty coverage, which every retailer loves for you to buy, so no love lost there. Overall, if you can make the trip here, the experience is worth the effort compared to the other 2 area Microcenters. read more

I received a coupon in the mail for $20 off 1 purchase and a free flash drive. That was very nice of them. I was an idiot and filled out the information form honestly. Now they do not stop mailing me catalogs. This is what I get for being honest. As for the service, I did not get the same service the other reviewers received. I got the standard retail, we do not care about our jobs, we could care less about you, employees that are in every other retailer. I asked where the flash drives are and he pointed me them out to me. He failed to tell me that there were others on another section and more up front by the cashiers. The store's layout is unimpressive it is just a warehouse of merchandise crammed in shelves with no presentation. I do not mind the store's layout or how they choose to present their merchandise because Home Depot is similar. I do mind getting catalogs in the mail. I am now counting down the days until this place loses money and cuts costs by stopping the catalogs. read more

Ortiz, the dude with the beard and the long hair) know what they're talking about, and if you get to know them over the course of building your PC, they'll really help you out in the long run. I purchased Processor & MB combo for in-store pick up. After driving 40 min to pick it up I was told that I did not order MB only processor. When I submitted my order I had both processor & MB on my order complete page (i have printout of the page as a proof) but in conformation email there was no mention of the MB. I was told by sales person that allot of orders were placed at the same time and that is why it happed. I think it happened becouse MB was suposed to be free with purchase of the processor. I do not care why it happened. I lost 2 hrs of my time and $15 in gas and tolls to get nothing. read more

I'd give more stars for selection except for the fact that you can't ever actually get a human on the phone. When the web says the have 1 in stock in the store and you drive 45 minutes to get it, you find it's not there, that just pisses me off. Remember CompUSA? They did the same thing. If your an Apple fan and got here for a purchase you will get into debates with poorly educated people about how everything else is better than anything apple. Horrible, that is being nice. I saw a open box tower for good price online, I print it out, go to the store and I was told they had it but it was more $$. I showed them the print out, I was told they would double check to see if the item is still available.(it was before I showed the paper) The employee came back and tells me it was just sold, so I left. 3 day later i'm still looking, I go to the site and the same pc I was told was sold is on the site for a higher price. so instead of honoring the price they had online, they just lie to the customer. I am on the phone trying to reach a manager now, and ive been on hold for 20+min. Stay away from this place if possible. read more

Generally they are very knowledgeable and have a good inventory. A lot of Geeks and enthusiasts work here .Not always the best pricing, buyer beware. Internet pricing can be much better, but when you need it now they usually have it in stockOften the checkout lines are unacceptably long and all registers are not open. This is the worst computer store ever. They do not stand behind their products and all they do is give you the runaround if you have a problem. They try and gouge and gouge you again for money. Once when you buy the hardware and the next time when you try and get it serviced. Avoid this store as they treat you like an ignorant cash cow. Nice organized store; easy to find most products and decent prices. The "sales people" are very incompetent. They stand around talking, usually do not know where the products are located in the store if you ask, and try to steer everyone into buying Apple products. Circuit City was much better. read more

After passing by many times, I had a few minutes to spare so I stopped in. The store was very nice and there was plenty of help on the floor. I picked up 3 items that I hadn't planned on purchasing. Everything was great until I tried to pay. It was a Thursday afternoon at 2:25 P.M. There were 6 people ahead of me and 2 registered open. I waited as the 2 cashiers were both stuck with their prospective transactions. I waited longer, no movement. Customers started piling up behind me in line. Employees in Blue Blazers streamed by one after the other, totally oblivious. It dawned on me that they walled off the cashier area so people could not see how miserably long the lines were. Ten minutes later, the same 2 registers are still stuck with the same 2 customers. The Cashiers were simply staring off into space. I walked out. I can imagine what happens there on Friday night. I am not coming back to find out. read more

if you buy here, which I do not recommend, check your receipt at the counter. I was charged an extra $250 for two things I did not even have in my "cart". I bought a land line phone and the help was good in sorting out which one would be appropriate. I looked at lap tops and the one I wanted was on sale, although the salesperson could really not explain what was different about the new model from the older model. He did not pressure me to buy one or the other, to his credit. There was a very hard sell for me to purchase microcenter insurance for the laptop at what seemed to me to be a very high price. Next time I will go directly to the Apple store. But at the counter, the cashier was spacey at best, working on his texting while I waited to make what for me was a very big purchase. Fortunately I caught the "mistake" before heading out the store, the cashier had added two items to my purchase. When I went to the manager, she said that he must of not finalized the purchase before mine so it ended up on my bill. Really? She did make the refund to my credit card but in no way apologized for the mistake. read more
