I was looking at some computer parts: new fans, KVM switches, stuff like that. It is a great store in Yonkers, they also have some really good deals on Mac Laptops. $1100 or 1400 range for alot of good features. The WORST MicroCenter EVER! The staff are complete MORONS! Seriously! You guys are worse than RadioShack! (RIP..) Don't even bother asking them a single question about whatever you are looking for. They don't have the answers! Ever! For god sakes, are there any hiring standards for this place????? I could get better tech advice from a random stranger than from in here! You guys SUUUUUCK! Here's my advice for shopping here: 1. Find answers to your questions on google before even leaving the house. 2. I haven't been to this store... but the person who answered the phone was very patient and knowledgable about my iMac and the issues I was having. Answered all of my questions in 5 minutes as opposed to the several calls I made to Apple, where I was passed around to different departments (20 minutes) and given conflicting misinformation. They refer you to their 1 authorized service center in Westchester who is so overwhelmed they don't answer their phone. Micro Center will be my new go to if any of my Apple products need fixing! read more

Literally mold on a "brand new" monitor I have a video but I guess yelp doesn't let me post it. The entire inside was full of mold, the wrappings , the tape, the box, all of the inside. I've called the store about 40x and no one answers mine phone, I've tried reaching through Facebook and someone said they'd get back to me and it's been a few hours and nothing, I went on their page for a chat says everyone is offline but yet they're opened, I texted them from an online option and they said they can't do anything and to wait 72 hours ... I'd just be careful purchasing things here . It's been a while since I've been to a Micro Center. I think the last one I'd been to was down in Virginia. So we were doing a new PC build, and decided to go the store route instead of the NewEgg/Amazon route. We drove over here, and after dealing with the post-apocalyptic parking garage situation, we headed inside. Atmosphere wise, it looks like it hasn't changed since the 1990s, which is probably true. There are ancient computer logos all over the place, and an overall greige color that I associate with 3.5" floppy drive enclosures. But, they seem to have a lot of modern stuff as well, and it's almost as good as my old West Coast standby, Fry's Electonics. Lee got some help from one of the guys in the components section, who was really great about helping find all the parts we needed, from thermal paste to RAM to connectors. I wandered the rest of the store, checking out some of the other stuff available. The digital camera section was kinda eh, but I was impressed by the variety of 3D printing and Raspberry Pi stuff. There's a whole section that's basically like what Radio Shack used to be, and cables cables cables everywhere. We took our slip to the checkout and the cashier was super cool and helpful as well, knowing we weren't interested in any extended warranties, and was apologetic at their stone-age POS registers that were super slow. So, overall a great experience, we'd definitely go here in the future for computer purchases. read more

My cat stepped on the keyboard and turned the screen 90 degrees. I called the store in Yonkers where I purchased the computer. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes the guy who answered offered to answer my question -- for FORTY DOLLARS!!!!! He said they offer tech support for the first 90 days...... While waiting for him, I opened a Chat window on their site. "Alex" said hi, then I asked my question and he/she disappeared. Needless to say, I will never buy a computer from Micro Center again. I purchased an open box Rog strix 2080ti from the microcenter in Yonkers on 4/21/20 I installed the card on 4/22/20 only to find out the card is actually a Rog strix 2060 not the catd I paid for. I unistalled the card and checked the serial numbers and it was obvious they had been tampered with. How can something like this go unnoticed on a 1200 card? I really hope I can return this card without issue first thing in the morning. Edit: I returned the card today for a full refund. They actually gave me a brand new card sealed in the box for no extra charge. The sales rep was very helpful and eased my stress. So far this is the best IT store I've ever been to in my life. Rene, the customer service rep was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, reliable and honest. Other highly known IT stores are only focused on selling you a product without the sales person having any knowledge about the product. This review is for the repair service. My pc stopped working, so I took it in to have it diagnosed. Left it for a day or two, came back and they told me it was either the motherboard or processor (which I already knew), but they didn't have a processor to test with, so they charged without actually diagnosing the issue. I ended up buying a new motherboard, and good to go. read more

A techy friend of mine almost made a mess in his pants when he heard that Micro Center was coming to 'Yonkiz'. While I vaguely pictured another generic Best Buy or Circuit City type place (this space was a Circuit City before they went under), I also had a nagging suspicion that perhaps this place could be different, as my aforementioned techy friend is pretty darned particular about his electronic needs, and abhors Best Buy. The latter proved to be true - this place IS different. I knew that as soon as I wandered into the "motherboard" aisle. An aisle just for motherboards? Whoa. As someone who has bought all of my computers online from either Dell or Toshiba - admittedly much of this store is lost on me. I wander around in a cloud of confusion, while my techy friend picks out pieces I never knew existed to build his own computer from scratch. Yeah - its THAT kind of place. This place has pretty much everything. From all the nuts and bolts that you need a degree in Computer Engineering to know what they are, to already built computers for us not-so-tech-savvy people. TVs, DVD players, Home entertainment systems, an Apple section, a Bose section, video games, office equipment - its all here. You can hear snippets of conversations between other techys and the incredibly knowledgeable tech-savvy staff here, enthusiastically defending their choice of IIlludium PU-36 explosive space modulators and just about having a tech-gasm. And....quite honestly, it makes me feel a bit dumb. However, you also hear other not-so-tech-inclined people getting great and easy to understand advice from the staff - so I rest assured that I know where to go when I need a tech solution. Micro center is kinda nerdy and no frills. But when you're shopping for electronics, you should probably head to where the geeks are. I bought/reserved an expensive camera online and picked it up in store. The purchase was a gift, and I used my debit card so my husband wouldn't see it on our common cc statement. When they rang me up for $850, my debit card was declined. The polite young lady did the thing where you blame the computer and tried again. Declined again. I snootily informed her that there was nothing wrong with my card and asked her to ring me up at a different register. She obliged, and I was declined there 2 more times. She delicately suggested I call the bank, and I told her I would do that but again, I had money. I called Bank of America and they informed me they had a policy in place where they reject any purchase over $500. Ridiculous. I told them to remove this policy and they wouldn't?! They did agree to to approve the next charge that came through, but I had to wait 20 minutes and then ask Micro try again. B of A only offered this solution after I asked to cancel my accounts. I returned to the counter shamefaced and apologized to the cashier. I explained the situation and again apologized that she would have to redo the whole thing again in 20 minutes. She was gracious and forgiving. I made sure to tell her manager what a dummy I had been and how patient she was with me. 5 stars for knowing about the camera when I came in to ask questions. 5 stars for actually having it in stock as promised when I did the online pickup. 5 stars for A+ customer service while I was being an annoying customer. read more

I have never left Microcenter disappointed. I've bought so many things from here (computers, monitors, sound systems, a television, various wires, power supplies... I could go on!) and I do not plan on ever going anywhere else for anything I might possibly need. First of let's talk about selection. This store has just about everything you might need from parts to build a computer to already built. Cameras, laptops, entertainment systems...I haven't come here once to look for something and NOT found it. This place is really a one stop shop and much better, in my opinion, than Best Buy when it comes to prices and selection. Next, customer service. This is a big thing for any store, of course, but when you're selling computers and the like, it's an even bigger deal. These people know what they are talking about. I have never had a hard time finding someone to help me and the best part is, they really do not pressure you into buying anything. If you are just looking around, they will take you around. If you know exactly what you want, they will take you right to it. And they stay with you right to the end if you are making a large purchase. They will walk you to the register and everything, making sure you get the right price. I love that. And like I said, I've never felt pressured to buy anything when I didn't want to! That's definitely my favorite part. The last thing is their refurbished products. Usually I do not like to buy refurbished, but when it's a good deal sometimes you have to just go with it. I have bought two refurbished items from this store and have no issues what-so-ever. It's been about two years now since I've gotten them and they are working as expected with no issues at all. Overall, if you're looking for a place to go besides Best Buy that has really great prices (like Newegg prices on some items) this is the place to go. I buy most of my personal AND business electronic products at this store and I absolutely love it. The prices are very fair for a brick and mortar store and they carry fantastic products with excellent stock as well. The staff is knowledgeable and can either answer your question or direct you to how it can be answered. I never have trouble finding an associate and have yet to have a negative experience there shopping. Did I mention, I work within walking distance, so I frequent this store on at least a weekly basis. There's something to be said about consistency! I am also a computer hobby-ist. I like to build my own PC's and mod them, as well as upgrade my hardware frequently. This place is BY FAR the best store to shop at for these needs. The section of components and upgrade parts is phenomenal. They carry all products I'd want, and many that I suddenly realize I also want! I love being able to walk in, grab what I want and leave with it. I can't stand waiting for online purchases!! First off, calling micro center was already annoying, just trying to reach an associate. Eventually after pressing 6 and listening to a robot for a few moments, I was connected to a store associate. I asked the gentleman if they had a particular part in stock, and he said they did. I asked him which aisle would I look in once I arrived at the store and he said "Aisle 21". Being that the guy who answered the phone works for micro center, I believed in what he told me, no big deal, aisle 21. I finally get to the store, someone at the front greets me, awesome, I'm a sucker for good customer service! I continue to walk through the store to aisle 21 (the store aisles could have had been a tad more organized, but Im just being extra, pardon me). I arrive at aisle 21, searching for the part the gentleman told me they had in stock (mind you im driving from NJ) to no avail. This is the reason they get 3 stars: AFTER about 20 minutes of searching myself, I look around for an associate for assistance. I went to a counter where there was an associate helping another client, that's fine. I patiently wait, after about 8 minutes the associate and the customer walk off. He didn't even acknowledge my presence or say "I'll be with you in one moment." He definitely knew I was there, but offered no sort of customer acknowledgment. Then I just walk away, and start looking for another associate, mind you I'm in the back of the store, why did I have to go all the way to the entrance to get someone's assistance. THAT IS ANNOYING. There should be more associates on the floor to offer assistance to customers. Especially a first time visitor. The item ended up being in Aisle 13 which was even more annoying, but I finally found it. The cashier was nice, he asked my name and was somehow able to pull up my current address and previous 2 address, which was VERY odd because I've NEVER been to a micro center before. Regardless, finding assistance was very annoying and not being acknowledged was also bothersome. I prefer the Paterson location. (I returned the item there today.) I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to write the review this place deserves without coming off as a shill. Unfortunately, the service was just too good, so get ready for some serious shilling. Basically, it's a computer and electronic accessories store, with a twist: The inventory is comprehensive, well, presented, and organized in an intuitive way. Fine. But here's the CRAZY part: The sales staff is knowledgeable about the product, solicitous and helpful. I felt like I got into a time machine to visit a retail location before the Internet came along and turned every electronics store into the Department of Motor Vehicles. Confession time: I went in there to test a camera in the store and buy it online, but the assistance and advice of my excellent sales associate (David) was well worth the extra 10 bucks or so I spent over a discount e-tailer. (Are you writing this down, Best Buy?) The associate even has a degree in digital photography from a top NYC design school. BTW: What are you doing there, dude? Seriously. Anyway, I kind of hate places like this because it makes me start to expect good service, and then makes shopping at other stores a huge disappointment. I'll check in again on these guys in a few months to see if they make what is probably an inevitable plunge into retail suckdom. If your expecting reliable repair service I would strongly recommend going some place else. After being directed here from Apple because of my a 2007 iMac, this location actually lost one of my RAM modules during repair. These are modules I have purchased in the past with my own money. The lack of communication & technical knowledge by the staff & management makes this store less than adequate for professional assistance. I spoke with the General Manager, Manager & technicians for no resolution. They claimed they couldn't order the same model of RAM & offered to replace it with anther brand. The fake they lost my own property is completely unprofessional. I would suggest if your an Apple customer to avoid this place for any service. I am contacting corporate today because after paying over $400 for repairs I want to be properly compensated. read more

Apple sent me here to get the files off of my failed hard drive. The young person behind the counter said very little, assumed I knew a lot about the stores procedures, and assured me that they could retrieve the files for the 100.00 fee. Of course, a day later I received the "unfortunately" text that they couldn't. I wasn't surprised. This is exactly the kind of situation that annoys me with tech. Now for 700.00 they can ship it off for me to a data recovery center. Now I'm waiting in line, for 20 minutes now, trying to get my drive back. Of course I'm watching people who came in after me walk right up to the counter and get served. THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE A SIGN IN?????? I really don't like how this place operates. Really subpar. When I'm looking to buy any electronics especially pc hardware I check Newegg, Tiger Direct, Amazon, and Micro Center. An eon ago people would visit J&R and many currently visit Best Buy but those places are overpriced & don't always know what they're talking about. Micro Center has real geeks and good prices. They currently sell the cheapest & highest quality Windows tablets. They have a huge closeout & discounted section. They always provide rebates & great service. Their aisles are pretty well organized & clearly labeled. Yes, eBay might be cheaper. Yes, you can avoid paying sales tax on Newegg, but if you need something now (and affordably) then Micro Center is the place to visit. There's also plenty of parking and a ton of other stores within Cross Country that you can visit as well. read more

I really have nothing but good things to say about Micro Center and I am not typically one to speak highly of any sort of retail store. Every single time I have gone to/bought something from Micro Center, it has been a pleasant, efficient experience. I bought every component for my first PC through Micro Center's website, and I picked it all up later that night. Their website is incredibly accurate with price and the amount of stock they have of an item in the store you plan on going to. When their website said they had an item I went into buy, and they were unable to find it, they gave me the option of purchasing a nicer model for the same price as the one I originally wanted - excellent customer service. I have found items on Newegg.com for cheaper, and they will look up the price and price match it every time - assuming you ask. The store is packed with employees, so there is always someone around to help. Additionally, every single time I have asked an employee a question, I have been impressed with their ability to answer - these aren't your average Best Buy employees. People of Yonkers/Southern Westchester, we are lucky to have a Micro Center within close driving distance, so we need to take advantage of it. If Best Buy wasn't some schmucky place people go to buy washing machines and stuff like that, and instead sold computer stuff, it would be microcenter. Are you thinking about building a PC? Come here, you'll be able to examine a ton of cases in person, pick up a processor for close to 100 dollars less than Newegg, converse with the friendly and savvy staff, and even take a peek at some super awesome custom PCs while you're at it. Tech people rejoice, Microcenter is like walking around in an analogue newegg, and Microcenter is competitive enough to, on occasion, match prices. Selections are great. Knowlege Bar (4/14/14) was worth the trip. I brought my Lifeless Dell laptop to the Micro Center Knowledge Bar to have one of the Techs look over my PC, and to no avail my PC was dead. However, the Tech was able to create a new file folder and transferred all my files over so, all I needed to do was to save the files on a USB stick. Unlike Best Buy Electronic Store, Micro Center Techs work on your PC problems right in-front of you, and there is no fee unless they need to update the hardware or software. The reason why I decided to bring my PC to Micro Center instead of Best Buy - Geek Squad for service is because I read an unfavorable article about Best Buy service in the New York Times last week. And I am glade I chose Micro Center because they could not be nicer and took their time working on my problem. I would consider buying my next PC at Micro Center. read more

Overall this place is great. The prices are reasonable and the store is clean, neat and well organized. I've purchased two laptops through them as well as accessories and I've always been happy. I will say some of the staff can be pushy and downright nasty. Went in with an Acer in my radar and the Apple guy wandered over and tried to up sell me hard. When it wasn't working he got nasty claiming he doesn't need me coming back to complain when the device I picked was too slow. I get it, he wanted a big sale, but being a douche isn't going to help. When I went to pick up the laptop we mentioned the horrifying upsell attempt and the cashier knew exactly who we were talking about. I had a Thinkpad computer with battery issues. I tool it to Micro Center. First Tech desk is among the slowest I have ever seen where you really need to make yourself visible to get attention despite the fact that there is an electronic check in process. Then they kept my computer for a week and then first told me that it was in warranty and couple of weeks later they told me that they receive the wrong battery and then it turned out that they used the wrong serial number and my computer was not under warranty. Weeks later they told me that they received the correct battery and I sent a staff member to pick it up. She had to wait for 20 minutes before she could get anybody's attention. Eventually she was told that the computer was ready. However when I received the computer, first it's digital pen was missing. I called back to inquire about it and I was told that they had no idea. Then I realized that my computer's battery was again not charging; as a matter of fact the problem was worse (see p. We called them back and they told us that they would call us back. When we did not receive a call back we tried to call second time and we got a very rude response that we should be patient and we will get a call from 1 to 12 hours. We have yet to receive a call back. We have spent over $300 for a problem that was not fixed on top of that I lost digital pen and all the time and cost of going back-and-forth. This is a very dis-organized and unreliable place. Apart from complaining to all consumer agencies and reporting to credit card company, would never be back. An update: despite multiple phone calls and emails, the store still has not offered a solution to the problem. One if the worst customer service experiences I have ever dealt with. read more

Here is the list of incidents which happened with me: Visit 1 to the store: I spent almost 4-5 hours in the store as they were not sure whether the machine should go under 90 days policy or should go under additional warranty which I bought additionally. While leaving, they told me that I will be getting it back after 2 weeks. Visit 2 to the store after 2 weeks: I went to the store to get my machine back and they said that it is not yet processed. their service vendor replied that this machine is not under warranty. I told them that this thing was already discussed before sending the machine with the staff on visit 1. After sometime they told me that it is now taken into priority and someone will contact me tomorrow, but I did not receive any call. Additionally, I have been trying to check the status of my machine repair on web site and it says RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS!, I have no idea what does it mean. I tried calling help-desk provided on site and an automated call never made me talk to the officials/ support members. I tried the support chat and it says to visit the store and check for the status. I am highly unsatisfied with the service and not sure when I will be getting my laptop back. read more

Took my old PC in as I wanted to backup the files and wipe it clean (giving it away) I spent 3+ hours there and even though you'd think that would make me give it less stars, that's not the case They tried everything and even though my PC ended up not being fixed (it's old), the fact that they were so patient and helpful won me. Now the best part, this was all FREE!!!! The service at the counter is complimentary!!! I'd definitely recommend them, you may wait a while but worth it read more
