I can't say enough about this place! we were there 2 nights ago with our tiny 9mo old puppy after what appeared to be a seizure.. we were taken in immediately n she was taken to the back n evaluated n within a few minutes we were put in a room for an update. everything was explained n they told us what they wanted to do for her, it was all done in a matter of minutes n we got her blood test results back, the bill was maybe 600$ which would b the same anywhere for everything they did. we opted to leave her overnight n paid an additional fee which 294.00 of it was refunded the next morning when we picked her up. Dr Mary recommended a Vet as we had our retire n we went there today (Vista) n were beyond happy with them. I called the ER n gave Dr Mary an update n she was beyond nice n thankful for the info.. we've had 2 other dogs there twice n they did everything they could for one of them but unfortunately she passed n they were so great. The people here were professional and kind. The first pet was Tigo. They had to put him down for congestive heart failure. Being with him during the euthanasia procedure is forever etched in a special place in my heart. The only downside was that I reluctantly agreed to have a paw print and ashes given to me later. Knowing the print was made after he died crushed my ability to grieve. DO NOT DO THIS! Coco was a German Sheppard I rescued in Prosser. He became hard-of-hearing. I backed over his front legs while working on my property. They were prompt to end his suffering and made every effort to give him peace. read more

Mid Columbia flat out lied to me on two different occasions two days prior when we visited. $750 later and no medication for my dog because they wanted to treat him for a different issue than what we originally went in for to be treated. Overall, he was worse condition than when he went in to see this incompetent "doctor ". We also had to deal with 1 doctor and 17 animals in front of me. They had me leave and they called me at home 3-4 hours later to let me know that they are ready for me to come back. Never again!! read more

Our experience at this emergency vet was heartbreaking. We brought our dog in during a desperate emergency, hoping for compassion and care, but were met with staff who seemed completely indifferent to our situation. It felt like they cared more about how much money they could get from us than about helping our dog. We spent hours here, seeing countless people walk in with their beloved pets. Each one was treated with the same cold, indifferent behavior. In one of the most vulnerable moments of our lives, when we just wanted to get our dog the help she needed, we felt taken advantage of. There was no genuine sympathy, no reassurance, just cold transactions. We spent over $2000 and they were still trying to get more out of us. It's devastating to feel like compassion was completely missing in such a critical moment. I wasn't expecting free services, but what I was expecting was someone to at least pretend to care! My dog had a medical emergency and spent 3 nights. They were quick to take care of him and get him on oxygen and medications. It failed to help him, but I knew he was already in a very bad way. He was14 years old and his body couldn't combat the infection. The staff kept me informed and were very competent. I thank Dr Parks and her evening staff in helping him pass in comfort. I have had the privilege of raising a variety of animals, including over 20 dogs, over 35 cats, and many others. My daughter has been a vet tech for the past 8 years, so I am familiar with the veterinary world and its challenges. I understand the industry is overwhelmed and struggling with a shortage of qualified vets. While I empathize with vets, this critical review of Pasco is written with careful thought and intent. My experience at Pasco was a nightmare after the first phone call and initial entry. Over the next 12 hours, the focus was not on my pet's well-being but on financial gain. Koda, my healthy and resilient 10-year-old dog, suddenly couldn't eat or go to the bathroom one morning. After watching him for a few hours, I decided to take him to my daughter's vet, two hours away, but my car broke down. Unable to reach the vet, I decided to take him to the Pasco emergency vet, arriving at 1:30 am. I told them everything, but they didn't seem concerned despite Koda's symptoms. Koda continued to try to go to the bathroom but couldn't. They never prioritized us, and Koda remained in this state for another 4 hours. I asked about his status every hour, but they kept saying they would get to us "soon." Finally, around 5:30 am, they examined Koda for 5 minutes and diagnosed bladder stones, recommending surgery but assuring me he would be fine. I approved $1,000 worth of tests and procedures and asked for pain meds for him. They didn't wait for the pain meds to take effect before inserting the catheter, causing Koda to cry out in pain for nearly 5 minutes. The tech came out to tell me that the catheter was in and the pain meds had kicked in. I am convinced they had punctured his bladder, causing fluid to enter his abdomen. There was a shift change at 6 am, and the new vet treated Koda's condition more seriously but never communicated that his condition was life-threatening. In hindsight, I believe Koda's condition worsened due to the leakage into his abdomen, which the new vet later acknowledged but didn't explain how it happened. The main issue seemed to be getting the bladder stones out of the urethra and into the bladder for surgery. Despite signing off on various tests, nothing indicated a life-threatening condition unless complications arose. They didn't perform surgery until 3 pm, by which time they called to tell me there wasn't enough viable bladder to put back together. They went through technical explanations and then asked me what to do next. I didn't understand what had happened, so my daughter called them. She discerned that we needed to put Koda down. The doctor later told the director that Koda's bladder was the worst she'd seen in 20 years, which should have been evident from the ultrasound before surgery. I would not have put Koda through all that if I had known. The vets tried to cover themselves by saying Koda yelped in pain when lifted, though I had been lifting him all day without any issue. The tech had already admitted the crying was due to the catheter insertion. The second vet lied about the procedure. Throughout the process, they were more concerned about obtaining my consent for additional procedures and payments than the well-being of my pet. My heart breaks every time I relive what Koda went through. I wish a million times that my car hadn't broken down or that I had chosen to go to the Kirkland or Seattle emergency instead of Pasco. I will never take another pet there and plan to share this experience with every vet I encounter. What I have learned is to be persistent and ensure your pet is examined immediately. Ask for upfront and clear communication without technical jargon. Request to see the results and every procedure being performed. Don't assume they are always doing what is best. Sadly, what happened on June 1st was not in Koda's best interest in any way. Find a vet you can trust. Build a relationship with them, and if you find a good vet, hold onto them and show your appreciation. They are rare and desperately needed. The bill for all that Koda went through was $4700! I do want to add that the director was very conscientious and thorough in her investigation, but the vets managed to cover themselves well. read more

Sadly, our cat Lily was not well she a dangerously high fever, and there is no emergency vet in our town, and it was a weekend...they came highly recommended to us, we called Mid Columbia explained our situation, the receptionists were very compassionate, so we drove the hour plus drive, our wait was less than 30 minutes, from the moment we arrived, the entire staff was wonderful! We had to leave Lily for 2 days, but there were in contact with us with updates and recommendations, we never felt pressured to have additional procedures done, we knew in our hearts she was in good hands! I want to start this off by saying the nighttime crew were lovely people. They were so nice so accommodating. If it would have been like that the whole entire time things probably would've been different. We first got there at 3:40 AM once we noticed our new kitten. Simba had a lot of pain in his left front leg mind you he is two months old. We just had gotten him earlier this month. When we went to book a time slot online it said for possible broken legs to just come right in so we called them. They said to just come right in. It'll probably be an hour or so wait so we didn't book a time when we got there the night you were very lovely. They let me hold Simba in a blanket. They gave him some pain medicine because he was in a lot of pain and meowing constantly once he had his medicine, he was kind of drowsy so we just sat in the waiting room and waited. We waited in this waiting room for 5 1/2 hours before we were seen From 3:40 AM all the way up until 9 AM Ish when we left, we did not get seen until 8 AM. It's understandable that it's going to be a little bit of a wait because they are short staffed at night of course however 5 1/2 hours is absolutely ridiculous. So we're waiting and we at this point had been there for four hours I believe and we eventually went to sit out in the car. They said that it would be 30 more minutes approximately so we went out in the car we went inside about 30 to 40 minutes later and we sat there for another hour before we were seen you a dog came in five minutes or so, and the people had said that he was having a problem breathing for the past couple weeks and he was seen five minutes after entering while me and my boyfriend had been waiting there for 5 1/2 hours. Meanwhile, while we were in the waiting room, the daytime crew one of them came up to me and basically scolded me for him not being in a crate while he was meowing in pain because he was in pain and he just wanted to be held by his owner obviously if your animals and pain you know that they just want you. And she's basically was so rude and disrespectful. She said well if you don't have a crate then I'm just gonna add one to your bill. The crate was $13 added to our bill because I just wanted to hold my kitten who wasn't pain. After that, she did not look at me. She did not talk to me Me. She only talk to my partner who was sitting right next to me. Once we finally got into a room, it was another hour wait waiting in that room. The doctor maybe looked at him for 10 minutes and then told us that there's not much that they know they could take x-rays, but they would need a radiologist to view the x-rays because that's not something that they can do and they just gave him pain medicine and sent us home with a 200 almost $300 bill for absolutely fucking nothing. The nurse in the patient room was absolutely so nice. However they quoted us $1400 for x-rays and radiographs so basically they also said that we could take him home with just pain medicine and wait and see if he'll get better. I did not accept this because I knew that there was more that could be done and he was still in a lot of pain and that it wasn't getting better so we ended up going to horse heaven Hills urgent care I believe is what it's called. Absolutely lovely people. I highly recommend if you can wait to go see them do it because you will get treated so much better get seen right away. It's absolutely ridiculous. What they were doing at the emergency room. They ended up giving Simba his x-ray and we did not need a radiologist and they were able to read the scan and conclude that it was a hairline fracture and sent us home with instructions of kennel. Rest anti-inflammatory and to continue his pain medicine I am so disappointed with how they handled everything at mid Columbia pet urgent care that I will never ever be going there again. If I do not have to how they treated us and not only Simba was absolutely ridiculous. AND on top of all of that we got chartered emergency room prices for being a walk in at 3 am instead of urgent care priced even though we were not seen and got put into a room after 8. There was more things that happened but I was so sleep deprived that I couldn't remember while writing this. Very disappointing... read more

My dog needed switched who ever did the stitches on my dog did a terrible job put 6 drain tubes in him also. Only when they took the tubes out 3 days later they did not notice how bad the stitches. Then when he came in to remove the stitches they had to sow him completely up again. The first repair bad stitch job was 2500 then to repair him because of the bad stitch job they charged me another 1000 dollar. Really they did a very poor job stitching they should have had someone who knew how to sow. Then to charge me more for a job that they already charged me for made me sick. A medical emergency is terrifying for your fur baby. My service dog became very suddenly sick and our normal vet was closed. Luckily we had their card. I called and they told us to bring the dog in right away. In less than ten minutes we were in a room and the vet was there less than 10 minutes after that. Be aware that this place is expensive, you're paying for a vet and staff to be available 24;7/365. But my service dog is all better and that is priceless. read more

This was our first visit and I have to say I was very impressed. I'm not sure why all the negative comments from others. The staff were all very kind and professional. Everything was explained in detail from the treatment plan to the cost and the discharge instructions. Is it expensive, yes, but when you take into consideration the vets, vet techs, and other staff are there 24/7 you can't expect it to not cost more. When we returned to pick up our dog the waiting room was packed, even people waiting outside. They were checking patients in and triaging in a very caring and orderly manner. I would not recommend taking your pet here if you don't have to. Brought my dog here for parvo. First day we paid 3100 dollars for treatment and an overnight stay. Next day they convinced us to let him stay an additional day. I paid another 1100 dollars. That same night (after just paying 1100 dollars 4 hours ago) they called to update me on my dog and wanted to go over the new estimate for charges...this time it was 800+ dollars. I was very confused and started asking questions as to how they could already be calculating new charges. Turns out they charge per every 12 hours. So my new charges were just for the overnight. What I had paid only covered for the day stay. In the process of asking questions they had realized that they made a mistake and double calculated a charge...which brought my new estimate down to $600+. I asked if I could pay in cash the following day since they wanted to send a link via email to pay immediately for the "estimated charges." Staff told me that's fine. A few hours later I get another update on my dog and after speaking with the doctor I was sent over to billing to discuss another estimate. This time for $500+. I was confused...started asking questions and then was told permission was needed in order to hold off on payment to pay in cash the following day. Too many inconsistencies. Long story short they updated the previous invoice and was only responsible for the $500+. The next day they wanted to keep my dog longer and we're estimating an additional $700. We decided we couldn't afford it anymore. I'm thankful for the help but the cost was astronomical. Communication about cost was poor. The only good thing about this place was the updating they did. My dog was bleeding from his stitches after his leg was amputated ( tumor) they said I could wait til later or take him to his vet. Otherwise I could go to Spokane. It was 9 pm. Good thing the emergency vet was open in Spokane and they helped and we got recommended to a great vet in Spokane. Lilac City . Decent prices and they actually care. Don't bother with this place. We had an afternoon appointment. On the way, there was a text update pushing us back over two hours. OK, understandable. We turned around & went home. Two hours later we headed back. The text update let us know our wait would be about 20 minutes. Then we got there and waited some more. And waited. And waited. Although we had an appointment, they had people showing up without booking, and pushing us back further and further. When we had waited over two hours (after already being bumped two hours back), and then were told it would be *at least* another hour (if no one else came in & bumped us yet again), we left. In the time we were there, we saw people facing horrendous vet bills. We feel for them. This place isn't worth your time, your pet's time, or the inflated bill you will face in the aftermath. Go to Vista, VCA or Pet Animal Hospital. Avoid this place at all costs, or be ready to camp out in the waiting room, and sell your car to pay the bill. read more

mid-Columbia pet emergency was a miracle for me. Headed home from Boise Idaho to the Seattle area My dog collapsed. Not knowing where to turn a small local vet directed us to mid-Columbia emergency. They assessed her quickly and found that she was suffering and anaphylactic shock. The situation was critical and her prognosis grave. They would not give up on her they had the equipment the staff and the know-how to care for my dog. With kindness and patience they explained every step to me and treated me like part of the family. As an out of town person not knowing where to turn this was the only place that could have saved my dog. I had to leave her behind and return home and placed her in their capable hands until she was ready to come home. Thank you so much I am eternally grateful, your kindness toward me and my dog has blessed me beyond words. read more

Really upset with how my visit went tonight. After working all day I came home to my little guy having some swelling in his throat area. I tried to get him into his normal vet but they were closing so I didn't want to take any chances and brought him into this clinic. I work in healthcare and completely understand emergency patient's taking first priority, which is what happened. I arrived and waited for quite a while before being taken back with my dog. Then another dog came in having a more serious medical emergency so they saw him first. I waited over 2 hours to see the vet to find out it was an inflammatory response, from what? I have no clue and don't expect her to know either. But it was just the way the whole situation was handled. No apology or acknowledgment that I had been waiting as long as I did. Again, the women were very kind but there was just such a disregard for time. I am a single mom and 2 hours into my waiting period of being there my nanny was threatening to leave my home where she was watching my 9 month old baby. After waiting another hour and a half I had to walk out and it was the fact that they seemed bothered by me being upset. Again, no apology, just acted like I was dramatic or maybe that was my perception of the situation. Unfortunately, I think they are the only emergency clinic in the area but I just wanted to share my experience and I hope this is seen by the staff and taken in a way that isn't coming off rude or mean, just maybe for them to see a patient's perspective and to help them have a better understanding of how their patient's time is also valuable. read more

It costs $125 just to walk through the door at this clinic, and then they'll skin you for everything you have in return for questionable care by apparently inexperienced vets. On Thursday we took in a senior dog who had suddenly gone blind. She was a rescue with other issues, including urinary incontinence, that her regular vet was treating. Her regular vet couldn't see her for the sudden blindness so recommended MCPES. We arrived there at 5.00pm and they immediately took her off for "triage", and apparently decided she wasn't an emergency. Unfortunately they neglected to tell us this, or we'd have left and waited until the next day to see her regular vet. (We were concerned that the blindness might have been caused by a stroke, or something equally critical.) We eventually got to see a vet at around 9.00pm. By then we had already approved a urine test (not that the UTI was life threatening - we were there because she went blind - but we're not vets. For all we knew, a kidney problem could cause blindness. We trusted their advice.) Based on the results the vet wanted blood work, which we approved, still on the assumption that they were investigating the blindness. The vet said the results of the blood work would take about 20 minutes. After 45 minutes we went to the front desk to ask what was causing the delay and they told us the vet was doing research online to try to figure out what the test results meant - which didn't exactly boost our confidence in her abilities! The blood work plus the urine test indicated early stage kidney failure, and around the time that result came through we realized they were focusing on her urinary tract issues, and not the blindness. We had to keep reminding the vet that we were there because the dog had SUDDENLY GONE BLIND. Meanwhile, they determined that the UTI we'd been treating was still present and recommended a urine culture to help determine which antibiotic would work best, since the one prescribed by her regular vet hadn't done the trick. We figured it would be cheaper and quicker to let them do it than to start the process over again with her regular vet, so we approved it - even though it had nothing to do with her blindness. We left after 11.00pm, dog still blind, still with no clue as to why. They said the culture would take 24 hours, sold us another antibiotic to start her on in the meantime, and promised to contact us when the results were in. The total cost of this exercise was around $750. At the time of writing this, it's two days later. The vet has still not called, and they're refusing to release the results of the urine culture or any of her tests to her regular vet until their vet has spoken to us. I'm furious, I'm disgusted, the dog is still blind, and we have no idea whether the antibiotic she's on is doing anything for her UTI. Avoid these clowns! They may be better than nothing in a real emergency, but unless your pet is actually dying in front of you, stay away! UPDATE: A different vet eventually took my call on Saturday afternoon and said we'd actually approved two consecutive cultures, each taking 24 hours. I guess it's possible that after nearly six hours of sitting and waiting and staring at the wall we signed off on this without understanding . . . Anyway, a couple hours later the vet called back with the result of the culture, which was that the antibiotic they'd given her was "moderately helpful" and we should continue with it. I didn't bother to point out that we hadn't spent hundreds of dollars on tests to end up with a "moderately helpful" medication. Took my Dog for an emergency 4 months ago. The vet was wonderful but with all the bad news from tests I chose to put my beloved dog to sleep. The young gal that came in to give the first shot before the euthanasia injection, she STABBED it into my dog's leg. I have never heard my dog yelling in pain like that. It was horrible. I have had to put a few pets down in my life and I'm still haunted by the horrible treatment for my poor dogs last moments. This should have never happened like this.
