I'd give zero stars if I could. This company monopolized the area, and the service is awful. I set up WiFi, paid $80 a month for it. I was unable to stream on any service. Got a service call, in which it was supposedly fixed only to have them upgrade my account without notifying me that was what they did. My internet is still too slow and I can't stream, plus I pay an extra $15 a month for it. Real nice, huh? read more

Mid-Hudson Cable is easily the worst internet provider I've ever had. My internet is out very often and when it's not it's barely moving. I'm big into online video games and Mid-Hudson makes them nearly impossible to play. Every time I put the internet up to a speedtest I get significantly lower numbers than what I'm paying for. They also can't keep up with the current bandwidth needs. It's been over a year since they've addressed the bandwidth issues and still nothing. I've even upgraded to a better package and nothing has changed, but the price! Multiple technician visits telling me that I should expect such low speeds because it's public internet is unacceptable when I'm paying more for specific speeds! The worst part is that no other internet company will service my area so i'm stuck with this nonsense. read more

I have been with this so called company for almost 30 years. Once upon a time Mid Hudson Cable use to be spot on with customer service not all to many years back. I never said a bad thing ever about Mid Hudson cable. Today and probably for about the la st 5 years give or take a year, their service is a nightmare. I am not going to go threw all of the things that are wrong with this company, as their really is to many to list I find it absolutely shameful this company has traveled down this road. All I do know is I am going to put up a antenna and watch TV for free. I only need the local TV stations for the news anyhow. Is it my imagination that our cable bills keep going up every 4 to 6 months ?? I have never seen my bill increase so much as I have over the past 2 or 3 years. Yes I admit I have Mid Hudson's DVR service with the basic high speed internet as of 06/17/15 I am paying $ 173.04 and as of July 1st. 2015 this goes up yet again another $3.95 monthly = $176.99 And, just by the way Mid Hudson has worded this July increase, I think another increase is on it's way before the end of 2015. When my cable gets to ware it is now at almost $200.00 monthly, something is seriously wrong with that picture Mid Hudson Cablevision. I should also mention, the price I am paying for the moment, does not include HBO, Showtime, Etc. The bottom line here is this, stay as far away from this company as you can. I would almost imagine people in droves are either leaving or downsizing their service/s. I wouldn't care if I had money to burn, I sure would not throw it away foolishly as I have been as of lately. Mine comes to a halt 6/31/15 If this is the new norm for Mid Hudson, their years are nearing a end. I should at least look into satellite TV but I am sure that isn't much better either. No competition in this area as Mid Hudson has that all locked down from what I hear. read more

Mid-Hudson Cablevision's service is even worse than when I wrote the original review. Latency on the internet is now over 2,000 milliseconds. This means that you can literally recite, "1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi" between the time you click your mouse on a weblink and any response. read more

Would give no stars if possible. PAINFULLY SLOW!!!!!! If you need to get anything done online, forget it. Takes 2-3 minutes to send a 5mb email and no internet page will load while it does it. They are the only internet provider in the area so we are moving as soon as we can just to get better internet. Makes me miss Comcast. read more

I have Mid-Hudson Cablevision for tv, phone, and internet. The phone service is horrible beyond believe, as I write this, my phone service is out (this happens about twice a week and usually lasts for 3 to 4 hours and usually at night...figures). The internet service is even worse...as I type this my download speed is 4.36 Mbps...I pay for it to be 10 Mbps. The worst internet/Phone service I have ever had. This is a dreadful company I wish Time-Warner would buy them out!!!!!! read more

I am long time (10 years) customer of Mid-Hudson Cablevision. Definitely not by choice. For high-speed internet I have no other choice. No cable TV...we use Netflix and Amazon Prime. If you are considering phone service through MidHudson Cable and have any family or friends in Florida don't do it! No one can reach me from Florida, the phone rings on their end but not on mine. This has been going on for six months and they are unable to resolve it. MidHudson blames the company they deal with for long distance but it doesn't do anything about it. Stay away! read more

Totally disappointed with how my elderly parents were treated company is a ripoff and preys on the elderly. While visiting my parents to care for them after surgery (They are 83 years old) my father decided to add another box so we could watch tv. he drove to Mid Hudson and was charged $153.97 for a box. I drove back to Mid Hudson to get his refund ($153.97 for 1 box is absurd) they were very rude and said my father would have to drive back for the refund. Make sure you do your homework before signing with Mid Hudson, limited channels, horrible Internet and phone service, and horribly rude customer service! Read the fine print, they offer only one box and have the nerve to charge $153.97 for a second box versus Verizon who charges $10.00/box. read more

Mid-Hudson Cable is the absolute worst example of a business in the area. Their prices continually rise with no explanation, and their product continually declines. It took me 10 minutes to even get into this site to make this review, and I will not only be sending it to them as an email, but I will be discussing this with the mayoral candidates this fall. We need more choices in Hudson. It takes 3 hours to watch a hour program. the internet speed is ridiculously slow. When you have a few devices in your home, as most homes do now, it should not take 5 minutes for an email to load. When you call them, they always say there is nothing they can do. Looking for alternatives.........but we are not tech geeks so need to do some research. Any advice out there? read more

This company is absolute garbage, and they allow themselves to be since they are literally the only cable TV/ Internet company available for many. I called Mid-Hudson Cable to start new service when my wife and I moved into our newly built home. I was told by a rep on the phone that they needed to verify that Mid-Hudson Cable was available in my development, even though several of the neighbors had it. A week later, a man called from Mid-Hudson, claiming to be parked outside my house and said service was available and all I had to do was call to schedule an appointment for installation. A week after that, and after leaving almost $100 deposit for a DVR and another amount for installation fees (still the only company I've dealt with that charges an install fee), the man attempting to install everything said that I had no access and I needed to call the office to have their engineers finish the plan for my section of the neighborhood. I did this, and whoever I talked to on the phone said I would probably need to call a certain somebody every few days to essentially remind them to do their job. I requested for the installation fee to be waived since it was clear no one at the company was on the same page. After a few more phone calls, and another week pass, Mid-Hudson finally came out and gave my home access to their network. I had to wait yet another week for a technician to come and install everything. He had issues trying to get the Internet working, but after an hour he said I was all set, except after he left, I discovered I had no Internet access. I waited 20 minutes before calling their tech support and I didn't even have to give them any of my information, they just told me to hold on for a minute, and suddenly I had Internet. It's odd that they somehow knew I was going to be calling. After getting my first bill, I saw the credit was applied for the installation fee, but was then added again as "a billing adjustment". I wound up canceling the absolute sub-par, trash cable TV service (less than 30 HD channels? Seriously?), but only after I was given nothing but attitude from a VERY condescending woman from their billing department when I was asking why I was being billed for the installation fee after it was previously agreed to be waived. I had drive all the way out to Catskill to return the cable boxes, just to once again get attitude from the guy at the front desk, trying to explain to me that "a billing adjustment" doesn't mean I'm being billed anything extra, even though the math would check out that I'm actually being billed extra, not credited. The moron at the desk came up with 3 different numbers for my first bill when he tried calculating it, and was trying to say I was incorrect and didn't understand how their billing works. They obviously don't either. After returning the cable boxes, Mid-Hudson contacted me a few days later to schedule and appointment to come to my house to disconnect the TV service. Not sure what day and age they're operating from considering they have to come to my house to physically disconnect my cable TV service. It would have been nice if they told me they had to come to the house at some point because then I wouldn't have had to bother driving to Catskill to return the cable boxes since there was no reason the tech coming to the house couldn't have taken them. I'm currently paying $80.90 for 6Mb Internet. I could get almost 20Mb Internet for that same price from a competitor, but since Mid-Hudson is allowed to have a monopoly for cable TV and Internet in the area, I'm stuck. I'm paying over $200/mo for the worst service possible. Their telephone service is a joke. Living in an area with no cell service available, I'm held captive by Mid-Hudson and their intermittent service availability. In the case of a medical emergency or a fire, I would be unable to call for help when they are "upgrading" their system or having one of their numerous equipment failures. Every year, without fail, their prices increase to provide the "best service to their customers." I have yet to see any improvement. Today, I discovered that their system does not support FAX machines. I found this to be interesting since I've used my printer/fax machine on several occasions and now suddenly it's not supported. I guess that was one of the touted "upgrades" they so proudly advertise. Seems to me that until there's competition for Mid-Hudson, satellite would be the way to go. People anymore, forget whqt it was like in the mountainous areas, trying to get anyking of reception. Yes, I do agree it is expensive, we use the triple play, which cost us about 50.00 less in W'Chester County, NY. Years ago, we had to pay for the main wire line run through about 1/4 miles into the woods. Nothing is perfect anymore, especially when it comes to high tech technology....in rural areas. They do work with us moneywise, when our financial situation is tight. Also, thetre had been many a time when I needed tech support in the midst of the night. What would people do anymore, in a perfect world??? Let's not forget to "appreciate" what we have or may not have had access to. I was a business owner for many years (food ind.)...things happen sometimes. BTY.....do you have electric just because a tree down the road or two fell on your lines? We just moved to Hudson NY and got this service. We originally wanted anything but this service due to the very helpful reviews. Unfortunately its the only service we could find at the time after being turned away by Verizon because they don't cover my area although the neighbor down the road has Verizon. We signed up for high speed internet at $81.00 and change it came out to be plus the extra fees. So first month comes and I get a check for $95.80 then get this.. 2 days later I get another bill for $101.89??? Now how did that happen? A rip off doesn't even cut it. These people think money grows on trees with the already ridiculous prices for rent plus everything else. Anyways this place is very awful and not worth the money. The service is spotty and their customer service sucks. I feel as though I am forced to stick with them or go without. Maybe Directv instead of netflix with internet and amazon browsing is something I will have to sacrifice just to save a buck and not get ripped off. read more
