The service by far is unreliable, they are misleading with internet broadband speed and NAT type. For being hardwired to two devices in a Lead-2 at best. Customer service is atrocious. At the main office when I paid my bill, the receptionist was nice however, when giving her my complaints, which I wasn't rude. I've never had a problem with Mid-Hudson cable. We've been with them for 2 years and they've raised our connection speed twice with no increase in cost. Our download speed is faster than what we had with Time Warner and our Price has not gone up at all in the two years we've been with Mid-Hudson. Can't say that about Time Warner! Beware when signing up for service! Total bait and switch. I signed up for internet only at a particular rate and several months later I noticed my bill had nearly doubled. I called to have it adjusted and was told that I had signed up for a "promotional rate" that was no longer valid and would be paying nearly double going forward. I had NEVER been informed that it was a promotional rate. Customer service completely denied that they had misled me. Be sure when signing up that you get your permanent rate in writing. Mid-Hudson Cable is a terrible company and a terrible cable provider. We switched to cable internet and cable TV about a little over a year ago and it has been a bad experience since then. Movie downloads from Vudu and Netflix are a nightmare and often cut out. Music from Pandora often drops and TV channels sometimes are not available at all. Our calls are rarely returned for tech support. Bad business!!! We hope something better comes along. They should switch their name to Mediocre Hudson. They suck! read more

We initially had a problem with our internet connection, but Mid-Hudson Cable was willing work the problem and eventually came out and replaced the underground cable; which was originally too long. If I could leave zero stars I would. Here's the deal. The techs are nice, and that's a good thing because you'll get to know them well. The service is always bad. And severely overpriced. I have JUST the lowest package of internet and cable phone, and I pay $96 a month. No TV included. Time Warner charges that much for faster internet, cable phone, AND TV. But TW won't come out here because there are not enough people to make it worth their while. In the meantime, MidHudson is here to rip you off. The service is unbelievably slow and randomly shuts off on a regular basis for periods of time ranging from 5 minutes to 5 hours. Tonight, I realized that my phone wasn't working, which is a pretty regular occurrence. So I unplugged the modem and router and plugged them back in (MidHudson's answer to everything) and still nothing. Then tried it again. Nothing. So I go to my moms house to call these people from her landline as there is no cell service out here in the boonies and come to find out, MidHudson Cable's phone numbers have been DISCONNECTED. Yes, DISCONNECTED. I've never heard of such a thing. Don't move here, and if you have to move here, make sure you can get FIOS. That's not available everywhere either. If someone says MidHudson Cable is the only option, run like hell. Last summer, my preschool aged daughter fell and broke her nose and I couldn't even call the doctor because my internet wasn't working. It's pretty sad. Better yet, avoid the entire area because every single business here is the same way. You have no other option so they rip you off and provide crappy service. Pretty is all we've got here. read more

I pay more than $200 a month for cable TV with two premium channels, supposedly "enhanced" high-speed internet (download speed 9.8, upload speed .48, both of which are significantly below average), and cable phone, which does not handle fax service. In addition, the cable television channels are arranged in a way that defies any conceivable logic, and include such unwanted amenities as the Albany public television station in place of WNET in New York. You haven't experienced local programming until you've watched Albany public television. Finally, it is almost impossible to reach these people on the phone, whether for billing or technical support. They overcharge and their service is not reliable. I pay 83.90 for just internet service when State Tel and other companies charge 40.00 for the same service. They say there service is unlimited well so is there competition. In my case I found the rates are negotiated with the town. Hmm..... We need to form a group to allow other carriers in. Many normal channels you would get somewhere else you won't get with Mid Hudson Cable, you get a decent price when first signing up but if you want to be able to DVR and have HD channels forget it. After our 'bundle pricing' was done with we're paying almost $200 a month for cable/internet/tv!!! We didn't even pay this much for Direct TV where we had hundreds of great channels and fantastic internet. They take full advantage of the fact that they are the only providers in this area unless you want to be stuck with dial up speeds. They should be ashamed of their service. read more

Mid-Hudson cable is only still in business thanks to lack of competition. They are the only available cable service as of now in a good portion of this region. Only other options being Direct TV or Dish. Thats not an option for many people with the terrain around the area. There aren't all that many HD channels and only one HD channel for HBO, Cinemax, Showtime etc. Many channels pixel out or lose sound here and there with windy conditions. Mostly the HD channels for CBS and ABC. Making those channels unwatchable at times. They do have an email for problems but they don't respond to them so it's pretty worthless. And the price is quite high for the lack of HD channels and poor customer service. My picture is going in and out right now once again. Avoid these guys at all costs, they'll only be in business until Time Warner of Fios enter the area. read more

If it were not for the fact that I am paying nearly $200.00 per month for Mid-Hudson Cables service I would laugh. Does Mid-Hudson Cable realize that we are no longer living in the 90's? A company that has the gall to charge such outlandish prices should also be providing state of the art service for those prices. What we do get for the lofty prices we are charged is TV that goes out if a slight breeze blows, a phone that can't be used if I'm also using my computer because the bandwidth is so poor and Internet speeds that rival a glacier. It also does not help Mid-Hudson Cable's cause when I call customer service and complain about the service I am receiving for the prices I am paying compared to other large cable providers in the area and what they offer in terms of service and Internet speed and are told rudely "Well we are not Time Warner and don't have the customer base they do so we have to charge more" How a Mickey Mouse operation like Mid-Hudson Cable can get away with charging the prices they charge compared to other cable providers for the services we get is beyond me but then again I guess that is a monopoly that is alive and doing well. I have been exploring other alternatives to Mid-Hudson Cable and have been on the fence about making that decision until I received the latest bill. So something good did come from this experience. This internet is possibly the absolute worst internet I've ever had. The service is very VERY hit or miss, with the customer service and with the actual internet service. Running direct from a modem, this struggles to bring my latency anything below 80 these days, making gaming literally impossible. Worst internet ever. Would not recommend this internet to anyone! Even browsing the web is awful at some points. YouTube takes forever to load a video on even good days, and on bad days gets you so frustrated you turn the damn computer off and leave. Yes, a dish is on their roof and yes, a 2 year commitment as well. My parents price, $115.00 per month, everything included!! Savings over $90.00 a month, and over $1080.00 per year! Has been really annoying this week as I needed access to Cornell's resources for my job. Keep having to get out my phone and connect my laptop to it. I was one of the first cable modem customers mid-hudson ever had. Had internet with them for over 20 years. I watched as price climbed and quality of service declined... but I stuck with them hoping they were just 'growing pains'. My cable modem service became so slow and intermittent it was impossible to do anything online. I called for service several times and was told there was nothing they could do as my problems were the result of 'solar flares'. I still could have been swayed to stay except when i brought my equipment in to terminate the I-net service... there was nothing, no concern, no 'you have been with us for over 20 years is there a problem we can try to resolve before you leave us?'... nothing. Goodby cable modem, hello State Tel Fiber Optic. So now we come to the cable television I have still held on to, perhaps out of nostalgia. I remember cable TV was called pay TV because there were no commercials. Yes its been a long time. I've watched the price of basic cable climb from 25$ to over $100 with no value added for me. All I truly needed was the local broadcast stations at this point but they dont offer anything so simple. We have found the shows we want to watch can be seen online for less than $10 a month... so tomorrow after being with this company for over 30 years i will be turning in my equipment and severing ties with a company that was once nimble and responsive to their customers who has become bloated and ignorant to what people really need, or can afford. This is no reflection on the people who I have dealt with on a personal level, almost everyone I have ever had to deal with was very friendly. This company is absolutely horrible. I work from home often and rely on having internet/wifi to do so. I experience outages at the very least once a week, which leaves me traveling elsewhere to finish my work, which is extremely frustrating. Their service is way overpriced for it to be as unreliable as it is, but there really aren't any other options in the area. Only upside is that I'm moving soon and I can finally get away from them. I use Mid-Hudson Cablevision for my home internet and television as well as for the internet access at my job. As far as service goes I can't complain, I have very little downtime with tv as well as internet. I have never had to contact customer service for my home service so I can't comment on that either, but considering I have been a customer for at least 12 years...that might speak volumes. Price continues to go up every year and no it's not as cheap as other alternatives. The only negative experience I had with them was I was notified that I would have to switch to "digital cable" (from analog) to continue to receive premium HBO and Cinemax channels. The letter I was sent said it was because of the change to the new digital TV format, but that was completely untrue as it had nothing to do with the way that cable was transmitted...when I called them on it, that some excuse was given so I let them take away my HBO and Cinemax as I Was not going to switch to digital and pay MORE for things I didn't want or need. I do receive the occasional sales call from them but it is few and far between and the people calling have always been polite. We switched from verizon dsl at work to mid-hudson because the verizon service would drop our connection multiple times per day and since our business runs on the internet...that was a VERY bad thing. They were never able to resolve the issue so when our contract was up we switched. The Mid-Hudson service is 10 times as fast and has only dropped out on us once the other day after a pretty bad lightning storm and only costs us about $10 a month more than Verizon was charging. I can't remember the last time I had a telephone conversation go so badly so fast as my last call to customer service at midhudson cable. I called after being overcharged by $120+ on my last bill for services I didn't receive. I was interrupted several times, none of my questions were answered, and the only explanation I was given was "you are not listening to me". The lady was extremely rude and it is hard to imagine how someone could provide worse customer service. Unfortunately, this seems to be typical for this pathetic excuse for a company. After the prices went up month after month, I have now cancelled all the tv and am just getting internet only. But still I am paying twice what other people I know are paying for internet only from Time Warner. And on top of that, they screw up the bill, and then act like it is my fault. Terrible cable company and terrible customer service. One upside to getting rid of their tv package: I am now spared the continuous airing of their "neighbors with Lance Wheeler" ad. For in house programming from a company that touts itself as hi tech, it has terrible production values. My 9 yr old nephew has produced more sophisticated stuff off my phone. Mid-Hudson Cable is arguably the worst ISP on the planet. For the outrageously high monthly fee of $135 and change I get 15Mbps downloads and 1Mbps uploads. Well that is at least what is advertised; actual speeds are slower. Their website www.mhcable.net has been down for months. If an ISP can't even get their own website to download properly I think it gives you a good indication of just how awful their service is. Go to the website of the NY Attorney Generals Office https://ag.ny.gov/internet-speed?wssl=1 and follow the instructions. The AG is investigating actual internet speeds versus the speeds people are paying for. If you want to get improved service maybe a lawsuit will make Mid-Hudson Cablevision take notice. read more
