*poor communication, had to repeatedly call for updates *timeliness was an issue. I guess they were backed up but it took 6-8 weeks to get screens made *poor quality, the pull tabs on the bottom started to break almost immediately, I have to be extraordinarily careful with them. *the middle support pieces are falling out of at least one already *some of the screen is starting to tear already on a few screens (we do not have pets or kids) *the screens are showing wear quickly The only thing I like about this company is that they are local but would not recommend unfortunately read more

Inconsistent communication and unreliable pricing I went out of my way to confirm pricing with two Mid State reps, Ethan and Nik, before scheduling a visit - giving full details to avoid wasting anyone's time. Both assured me the range was accurate and wouldn't vary more than $50, even after seeing the window in person and taking the same measurements I'd already sent. Despite that, the final estimate came in about 30% higher, without explanation, and not even for the upgraded window we had discussed. When I asked about the increase, a third rep, Jeff, stepped in and said only that "the configurator" determined the price. It's now been 12 days with no reply from him to my polite follow-up. Disappointing experience and a waste of time given the lack of consistency and follow-through. read more

Had a "salesman" come to my house for a warranty claim for a window installed/fixed 4 years ago. The seal had broken and pushed the frame out a bit causing the window to not close all the way. The window ended up breaking due to trying to close so after measuring the "salesman" said they would get back to me with the price. I inquired about warranty in their work and the response was "no warranties for window breakage". But..but...the seal broke causing the breakage? He again said "no way". I did say I would not recommend them to anyone...which he said "I don't want your business anyway" and walked out, called their office, they said they would call me back.....never called. Went to Madison Glass, they are in the process of fixing the window but said "who worked on this window, it's all jacked up". Told him my story and they said "I wouldn't use them again"! So if you want "temporary windows" without a valid warranty....by all means call on Mid State Door & Window! read more

I brought them a screen for repair and a storm window that was bent. I expected to buy a new storm window but the lady asked if it would be ok if they fixed it. They were able to fix it and the cost to have them both done was very fair compared to taking it to your popular home improvement stores. It only took 2 days! Went to Mid State Door and Window looking for a new grille for our exterior door which had broken. The staff was friendly and helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for. The replacement grille came with a new window and ended up being cheaper than what the big box store wanted to charge me. They had the part in stock and I was in and out in 10 mins. Several years ago, I looked for insulated storm windows, as I wanted to keep the original windows in my house, built in 1935. Now, pretty much anyone would know that nothing is, actually, square in such an old house. I decided to go with a local company - big mistake with this one. The salesperson came out to look at the house and the existing windows, told me that they would be insulated after after they installed the new storm windows. Well, the window opening weren't square, which I'm sure he knew. Got the storm windows replaced and there were gaps in everyone of them. I called to have them come back to caulk the windows and was told it would cost $25 per window - so much for insulating. So, all of my windows have cobwebs and insects that get in through the gaps in the storm windows. They also put white screws in my tan windows. I called to ask about that and was told they were out of the color of screws that matched the trim. I made a huge mistake by hiring this company. read more

My husband says I follow the "round circular theory of shopping." I basically scan a slew of stores for similar items to compare merchandise and prices before finally honing in on my purchase. It takes more time but my efforts usually pay off as they did recently when I was looking for replacement glass for a poster size picture. When I went to Michael's, they were going to charge $55 for the glass, which I balked at and started my shopping circle. After checking prices at three other places, I found that Mid State offered the best one -- $11 for the same size that Michael's was charging $55 for. Additionally, they came in lowest on a round table top glass piece I was also shopping. They wouldn't let me pre-order by phone, which was my only disappointment. However, they will cut the glass while I wait so I don't have to come back. read more

Mid-State Door & Windows sells exquisite door products, and they are high-quality in almost every respect--except one: customer service. I wanted to purchase a Provia storm door from Mid-State, but salesperson Marsha's rude attitude convinced me to buy the door elsewhere. I called on Friday (8/31/18) and asked if the installer could come out the following Tuesday (9/4) to measure the door. She said I would have to wait four (4) days for a call-back. I asked if she would please call him on his cell phone (on Friday) to see if he might have a Tuesday opening, but she refused. When I asked if she were the owner, she said no and her attitude became surly. I thanked her and hung up. But when I called back for the owner's email, she played the victim, claiming I "hung up on her." I asked her if the Owner (Rick Hudson) knows that she speaks rudely to customers, and things just got worse. The bottom line? I don't blame Owner Rick Hudson for rude service (unless he defends Marsha in a response to this review), but I planned to spend at least $1,000. What have I learned from Marsha at Mid-State Door & Window? The customer is always wrong, at least if you get on Marsha's wrong side. :( read more
