Nightmare is almost over. I met Jim and his crew at vintage camper rallies and bought into the…read moredream. I'm glad I got a GMC motorhome, but I regret taking it from Atlanta to Orlando for the work. Jim is a great idea guy, but horrible businessperson. Don't buy into his facebook posts and blogs or YouTube channel. I tried to book a time slot to bring my rig down, and he always said 'just bring it down'. Big mistake. If you've heard similar things, don't take a leap of faith - RUN!
We showed up as a walk-in and his new manager - Jason - met us and immediately exposed Jim, telling us that Jim always tells people to bring it down and then you are trapped but that they had a 13 month waiting list, but he would fit us in. Little did I know he was managing our expectations and becoming pawns in a game between a manager who wants to buy the business, but is willing to jerk clients around while screwing the boss if he doesn't get his way. Jason promised the world and then when our project went off the rails, he stopped responding and left me to deal with Jim, who clearly has time to blog, post on Facebook groups and make YouTube videos, but NO TIME TO RESPOND TO CLIENTS.
I'll spare you all the details, but Jason is not the businessman he thinks he is. While talking trash about Jim behind his back and telling us he was going to buy the business from Jim and turn the place around, Jason failed to deliver across the board. From account mgmt, to project mgmt to quality of work to billing issues it was a nightmare. Once it became clear to us that clients are just pawns in their toxic games, we ran down to get our rig out of there ASAP, but we had to pay a +$2,300 bill for work that was never approved - and according to their own mechanical eval done when we dropped it off it was NOT EVEN NEEDED. We could not get down quickly on a weekday, so he had to pay so we could get it on a weekend (they are NOT open Friday, Saturday or Sunday) from one of the friendly mechanics, which BTW are just innocent bystanders to this mess.
We got the airbags and they work, but they did NOT address the leak we were told by Jason would be addressed. They did not secure the new valves to the fender well and left one hanging by a single screw. They did not put the skirts back on with the magnets & piano hinges he showed me, telling me I had to figure it out and that part was NOT included (if it wasn't, then why did you show me Jason? - don't upsell me onsite and then say 'it wasn't in the quote' when I see it wasn't done!).
Additionally, my backup $400 AGM battery is gone (was under warranty). My primary battery was gone and replaced with an inferior, small battery. Another battery I had is cooked, because they didn't check the electrics they messed with before starting work (yes, I had 3 sets of batteries, not 2) and my inverter cooked it after they hooked everything up wrong and let it charge overnight. My battery booster parts that were incorrectly removed were NOT in the rig, and now I have to buy new ones to get my setup back to 3 batteries, in addition to forking out $750 for new batteries and parts...
Its just theft at this point and while I've disputed the credit card fees and am confident I'll get a refund for the parts that were replaced that I NEVER approved, I'll be taking them to court for the theft of parts & negligence of the work. I don't even care if I win, I just want to punch back and inflict pain at this point, and I can and will because they crossed a line.
Moral of the story - I wanted to trust someone to do the work, but I should have done it myself. They rushed things in an attempt to make me happy, cut corners and made a bigger mess, while over-charging me and leaving a mess for me to clean up. I'm happy with the quad-bags, but wish I had just ordered them direct and picked them up and done the job myself and never trusted them with any of the work.
Maybe if you have FU money / deep pockets and want to do a full restomod with +$100k, these guys are probably good parts swappers so they don't have to figure anything out with your current setup, but they clearly don't take time to figure out issues with the rigs that are survivors and have horrible account mgmt, project mgmt & billing issues.
