I fell at work and suffered an injury and was sent to MidAmerica Orthopedics in Palos Hills. I had to see two specialists, one for my hand and wrist and another for my hip. The day after the fall I was experiencing pain in my shoulder, wrist, and hip and groin area. The doctor I saw for my hand and wrist provided an order for occupational therapy, which has worked wonders for improving my wrist mobility. I later had a CT scan and was seen by Dr. Kevin Lindsay-Rivera and PA Alexandrea Bosen. During that visit we reviewed the CT scan and Dr. Lindsay-Rivera explained the different types of tears and possibilities that could be causing my pain. During that same visit I informed both Dr. Kevin Lindsay-Rivera and PA Alexandrea Bosen about all of the areas where I was experiencing pain. Dr. Lindsay-Rivera performed a physical exam and when he moved my right leg inward I felt a sharp pain. He stopped the exam and suggested getting an MRI to see if there was a tear or anything further going on. At that point PA Bosen stated that she would clear me to return to work. I explained again that I was still in pain. Her response felt very condescending, as if I was trying to stay off work rather than explaining that I was genuinely in pain. The visit ended with her saying that we would schedule a follow up appointment on March 5, 2026 and re evaluate then. I had the MRI completed at an outside imaging facility because workers compensation only covers certain locations. On March 5, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. I arrived for my appointment with the MRI disc. The staff took the disc and then realized that the imaging center had not sent over the written report. Because of that, I was not seen and I was not evaluated. I explained that my pain had actually gotten worse. Once again I felt dismissed and was told they would contact me with their findings. I called multiple times to get an update because I needed to report back to my job with the results. I eventually spoke with PA Bosen and again I felt dismissed when I explained the situation. She became defensive and said, "From an orthopedic point, you are okay to return to work. We understand that you are in pain but we cannot help you with that." I explained that saying I was clear to return to work would make my employer believe I had been fully evaluated and found to be fine. The next day, March 6, I went back to the office to get a work note because I had been dismissed the day before without an exam or even a proper conversation. I was told that Dr. Lindsay-Rivera was out of the office and that I could not get a note because his documentation had not yet been finalized. I then spoke with the workers compensation coordinator, Cris Garcia. She told me she would take care of it on Monday, March 9, when the doctor returned to the office. Monday passed with no update. On Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m. I called again and was told that the doctor had not responded to her the day before. Later that afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., my job called and informed me that I had been released back to work and was advised to follow up with my primary care physician because the injury supposedly did not appear to be related to the fall. They even suggested it might be something internal such as ovarian pain or appendicitis. At that point I felt completely ignored and made to feel like a liar. Last week I had my annual appointment with my primary care physician and explained the fall and the pain I have been experiencing. Her response was, "That sounds like a groin strain or a hip joint injury. Did they give you a referral to a sports medicine doctor or physical therapy?" I told her no and that they were simply trying to release me back to work. She then asked, "Even though you are still experiencing pain?" My primary care physician knows my medical history and did not jump to conclusions about appendicitis or ovarian pain. In all my years of seeking medical care, this is the first time I have ever felt dismissed and possibly biased against by medical professionals. I truly hate that I still have to return there to see the hand specialist. I do not want to walk through the doors of that facility again. I ultimately had to advocate for myself with my employer and request a second opinion. That is something I should not have had to do if the providers had simply listened to me as a patient. read more

Poor customer service...just needed an MRI. They told me to fax the order...of course they didn't receive it. I have a good insurance plan, which doesn't require pre-auth. Mid-America says they still need it in writing from UHC. Um, okay...I'm sure someone at UHC will get right on that just for you. Thanks for waisting my time MidAmerican. I went elsewhere an got an appointment immediately and was able to text them photos of the order and my insurance card. That's how it should be. read more

I'm noticing mostly negative reviews which is wild because I've never had that bad of an experience at this place at all. I struggled for almost 2 months to get anything taken care of for my knee and was sent from one place to another - a friend recommended MidAmerica when I realized my son also needed to be seen due to a sports related injury. Everything moved smooth and quick for him so when I felt I was out of options and pretty hopeless my husband said "let's just call them and try to get you in" that was Friday and they had me booked for a Monday appointment. Saw Dr Meizel - he let me know my options and we opted for surgery. Staff was great because I'm not good with surgeries - tend to get panicky and they were very kind and understanding. Surgery on Tuesday and started therapy that Friday. I'm just over 6 weeks and have started walking thanks to Jess, Hannah and the crew in the therapy dept. they're all really great, listen to concerns, talk you through things and are the hype team I needed to even mentally survive this whole situation. Haven't really dealt with anyone that I could really complain about. Maybe some people aren't as cheerful as others but not all of us absolutely love our jobs so I get it. HIGHLY recommend and will send everyone that ever is looking for orthos their way. read more

Velma was so helpful and pleasant over the phone. However, in person this office was not the same. How about some eye contact and speaking up? Explain that you are going to give me an iPad to fill out "paperwork" I gave my ID and all the info on the iPad was still wrong and I had to correct. I really hope that these comments get read by management and future patients. One thing that the person taking incoming patients on the phone should mention (if you are a walk in) the lunch hours of staff. I arrived Wednesday before 2pm to be told who I needed to see would be going on lunch for an hour. Then once seen, there were two assistants, name tags conveniently flipped so I wasn't able to obtain names. I should have been told that if I was going to have any consult on an injury or pre existing condition to bring any images on disc. If not, they will want to take their own. I had images taken at the hospital and another ortho location as I was coming here for a second opinion. I had access to them on the portal, but that would not suffice. They said they would ask the person that was going to see me. In my opinion being greeted with attitude by one of the two assistants I felt they made me wait it out. The I was told 15-20 min later by the rude one, "You can reschedule your appointment when you have images on disc or allow us to take x-rays now." Not, "Im sorry, we wont be able to see you at this time without necessary images, would you like to reschedule? " I was not rude. This is my first time dealing with an ortho issue Im not aware of protocol. I had paid to have 2 sets of xrays taken in the last week. Could you blame me for not wanting to pay for a 3rd? I had my MRI disc but that wasnt enough. It had already been established by two Drs, no breaks. This was a waste of time. If you can't invest the time to properly train with S.O.P. on the phones, front desks and p.a positions.... how and why would I trust the physician an opinion and with a surgery? It all rolls downhill. I should have read the reviews here first before reaching out for an appt. Show some compassion and don't treat everyone like they've done this before. I went here to rehab a shoulder injury as well as to rehab a back injury. 4xs a week for 8 weeks for both. I asked if I could stack the appointments for the back and shoulder because I can't make it 4 days a week because of work. I was told that my insurance wouldn't pay if I have them both in the same day. I called my insurance twice and they assured me that they would pay as long as it wasn't the same provider in the same day. My appointments were with different providers. I asked the scheduler about this and was given a hard no and they didn't call the insurance provider even though the insurance carrier requested that they call. I was no given the option to pay for the second appointment out of pocket. I cancelled the handful of upcoming appointments that I had. I have found another PT that miraculously can book back to back appointments as long as it is with two different providers because they called my insurance provider. One phone call is all it took. The doctors that I saw were both good. PT not so much. read more

The billing department is incompetent. I purchased a HMO plan through BCBS which is in network with this facility. My max out of pocket was met prior to my date of service as well as my deductible. Yet this office is still chasing me for a balance from 2024. They continue billing it to the medical group not the insurance company directly as instructed. I just left the Palos location 8/20/24 where I saw Dr. Zats for a broken toe and sprained ankle. I was in pain Dr. Zats yelled at me and told me that I was faking!!! All because I shared how painful the exam was. She assumed that I was claiming a work injury when if they had taken thorough notes they would've discovered that I said I hurt myself at home after falling down the stairs being pulled by my active dog! I yelled back at her!! Then she kept saying that I was focusing on just one word "faking!" I told her you said it! Then she mentioned that she wanted to be safe and send me to another doctor to check my nerves. There's more to add to this incident but too much to write. How could she tell me my pain? Please stay away from Dr. Zats and from reading the other complaints stay away from the other doctors. Not sure what an official complaint will do but I'm filing tomorrow and notifying my insurance. Asked does he think he needed a MRI to make sure, his response lets wait 2 weeks and see... 2 weeks is a long time to wait for something you already know. I had one appointment at MidAmerica in Palos Hills several weeks ago. Afterwards I called MidAmerica Orthopaedics in Palos Hills several times for help to register for the patient portal but no one answers their phones. I tried Three different departments using the automated attendant pressing numbers to be connected but after several rings my call went to voice mail to leave a message. I left messages but no one returned my calls. I tried at different times of the day on different days but no one answers the phones. I finally drove to the Palos Hills location to get help. I was able to log into the portal with the PIN number that was given to me only to find out there was no information in my file in the portal. I went back and asked the front desk person for copy of my records to be sent to my PCP and was told to fill out a form which said it would cost me $10. read more

I was originally very happy with Dr. Chapman, but the team leaves alot to be desired. The communication with the staff and the follow up were very poor. All this for a very minor wrist fracture, which required no intervention from the MidAmerica team. The original letter issued to the school was incredibly vague. The effort to get an updated letter issued to the school releasing the teen to return to full activities has involved over a dozen calls, several staff members and intense frustration. I cannot recommend an organization that can't get something this simple done quickly and correctly. read more

After sitting in the waiting room for a bit, someone came over and told me that only one parent could be in the waiting room with a minor patient due to covid19 and that I had to wait in my car (90 degrees out, was there just under two hours). I told them that I had a court order that said otherwise and that I wasn't leaving. The woman said that I needed to speak with someone else but no one ever came. I question why this policy is so important but the staff's need to follow the governor's mask orders seems to be optional. read more

I saw Dr. Zats 8 weeks ago on 5/24 and she advised that I needed orthotics. She stated I should allow 2 weeks to hear back from her office to allow them time to get the proper authorization from my insurance company. I called exactly 2 weeks later on 6/7 and was advised by a staff member that Dr. Zats was on vacation the previous week, so they still needed time to complete paperwork for my insurance. Another 4 weeks went by and I still hadn't heard from them, so again I called and left a message with the phone attendant on 7/5. Fast forward another week and still no response, so I called again and left yet another message on 7/12 with a phone attendant. The phone attendant at that time showed my previous message was read on 7/10 and she was puzzled that no one had contacted me yet. She said she would enter another message in the system to "nudge them along." I called yet again on 7/15 and again on 7/19 and left more messages with the same phone attendant. I reached out to my insurance company myself on 7/15 and they have no record of MidAmerica Orthopaedics trying to contact them in regards to my orthotics, which would be 100% covered if the doctor's office would simply reach out. If anyone worked for me and was this unresponsive to calls, I would fire them without hesitation. Don't waste your time here! Now I'm going to have to spend another $50 for an office visit elsewhere so I can finally get this completed. read more

One year anniversary of the butcher job surgery done on my hand by Dr. Fakhouri. Still have no feeling in my finger, have chronic pain and stiffness not present prior to surgery. Incision loaded with scar tissue from lousy incision and horrible closing of incision. Less mobility of hand and less use of hand than before surgery. Major surgery somewhere else down the road to repair the damage done by this hack. Stay away. read more

I went to use the immediate care yesterday at this facility. When I arrived at the desk a woman named Valerie asked me if I had an appointment. I told her no I wanted to use the immediate care. She then asked me what was the problem. I told her I had injured my knee a month ago and I thought it was healing correctly but now I had sharp shooting pains going up my leg whenever I walk. She scoffed at me and then rolled her eyes and said that was a month ago and you're coming in now. I was taken aback I couldn't believe that anyone could be so rude to a patient. I used to work for this facility I'm very happy with the doctors and my husband has had surgery with these doctors. But due to her actions I turned around and I left. No one deserves to be treated this way especially someone who has been there before and knows what's available and was trying to use the facility. She has now cost this practice a patient. The follow up from Dr. Svetlana Zats and medical assistant is terrible. My husband went for an appt and they wanted to do x-rays and do a tissue exam. The Dr. said that next steps would be for her team to contact the insurance company to determine the patient costs after deductible, etc. That was 5 weeks ago. We've heard nothing. But I have a total of $500 in bills from the Dr.'s office and the lab provider. I've called the office twice and still have not gotten any answers or next steps. I feel like they've taken my money and provided less than subpar service and zero communication. I would highly NOT recommend this doctors office. Terrible service at best. read more

Made appointment with Mid-America orthopedics because I was having lower back pain I met with the first specialist and I was told to get an MRI. The specialist recommended I would get an injection by his partner. After meeting with the second specialist I was told I would be scheduled for an injection fast forward a day before my injection date I was given a call from the office and was told that insurance denied injection. Nothing was filed and there was no denial or approval. So, in a nutshell this practice is funny business. I was given the runaround and multiple excuses and I was told to go somewhere else. I had carpal tunnel surgery a week ago. The surgery went ok with Dr. Fakhouri. It was quite different than the same surgery I had by him 7 years ago though. I had my right hand carpal tunnel done in 2014, with a great experience. Now the left hand, the recovery and pain has been quite a bit more that before. I had to go in full on surgery center with a tourniquet on my shoulder. The pain was more and the incision looks bigger than the first time. I have had severe pain in the palm of my hand since the surgery. I was given 600mg Motrin for pain, that didn't even cut it. I also called the doctor on call 2 days after my surgery. I left a message at 6pm, I never got a call back! Now I have been dealing with getting medical leave papers filled out. It's been a week with no one calling me back to fill out my papers. I don't know what has happened to this medical center but I will not go back! We'll see how the incision looks next week when I get the stitches out and talk to the doctor about my experience. This place is completely unprofessional and a complete warehouse type of money-making clinic. Unfortunately the Pain Doctor I have used from Christ Hospital switched to this place . He is wonderful but it has been a terrible experience trying to schedule a simple epidural with him at this facility. I do not know if the Mokena location is any better but the Palos Hills facility is a joke. STAY AWAY. Review Addendum: Received a call shortly after posting this review. I spoke with Leticia who WAS VERY HELPFUL. She took her time to try to clarify and to also listen to suggestions. I truly appreciate this and hope that things can improve at this facility so that patients(like myself) of Dr. Jido can continue to receive the same quality care we received when he was at Christ. I highly suggest that others try to contact her and share their opinions and suggestions. Lastly, to be very clear, Dr. Jido has ALWAYS been a wonderful Pain doctor and I highly recommend him no matter where he is at. I was very unhappy with the care I received last year. I had a finger partially amputated without being informed until my dressing was removed almost 2 weeks post surgery. I also some how contracted MRSA at some point during the 4 I&D procedures I had to have. My initial diagnosis was a staf infection no MRSA. I loved the physical therapy staff who treated me post every surgery and they are what kept me coming back Against my better judgement I returned to see the spinal specialist since I knew they took my insurance and have my medical history.. First appt went ok. I didn't have anything more than normal dull pain, I was told to not let anyone inject anything in my neck for pain, to do physical therapy and continue my muscle relaxers. I made an appt a week later due to waking up unable to move my head and horrible neck pain . When I called I was told the Dr was booked but they could talk to the Dr and possible squeeze me in. I asked if I should go to the ER and I was told the Dr could see me. Waited a few hours I went for my appt. Dr Pannu entered the room with very little greeting. Asked what the problem was and basically told me there was nothing he could do. Instructed me to take muscle relaxers around the clock and do physical therapy then gave me a note to return to work tomorrow. After telling me to take muscle relaxers around the clock........... After speaking with the clinical manager about his arrogannce and dismissive attitude and lack of patient care, I was able to get help from the pain management team, which was a total different interaction. They could see i was visably in pain and took time to help. No pain killers needed. After Dr Pannu previously told me not to allow anyone to inject anything in my neck I was relieved to hear an injection could help relieve my current symptoms and help them from reoccurring. Dr Pannu treated me like I was a drug addict only looking for pain meds, if he knew my history or cared to he'd know I'm against most medication. But he didn't ask any questions regarding what lead up to my injury or ask what any other Drs have previously done seeing that I have a history of these spasms. I came to him for advice and help to prevent these spasms. Had I known he would tell me I could go waste my time sitting in the ER for treatment of I wanted to, I would have gone there to start and not waisted hours waiting to be seen by him. I wouldn't waste your time or money at least on him. He has the "I'm better than you" because I'm a surgeon attitude and if he cant do surgery on you, he'll make sure your aware your a waste if his time. Save your money and your mental health and seek care elsewhere. read more

Dr. Chapman is Great!! We went in as a "walk in" immediate care visit for a football injury to my sons wrist. He took great care of us, no wait, friendly staff, and we were in and out of the office with X-Rays and a cast in under 90 minutes, so much better than waiting hours on end in a crowded ER! He has great bedside manner and was able to put my son at ease as soon as he walked through the door. He took his time explaining everything and answering all of our questions. You can tell he is the kind of provider that truly loves his work and cares about his patients. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking a pediatric orthopedic specialist! read more

If I could give NO STARS I would. I took my 82 year old grandmother there on today 8/29/18 for HER FIRST consultation and after them having ALL her paperwork for 30 minutes they finally decide to tell us that the code on her referral is invalid. So I get on phone with the Dr. office and have them do a new request with the CPT code they give and after the office faxes it after waiting another 30 minutes they have me talk with the insurance company for them to tell me that what the Dr. submitted was not an actual referral but instead an authorization and that it would take 72 hours for them to approve the referral but they could back date it for today's visit if the doctor would still be willing to see her. Now you would think that KNOWING THAT MY 82 YEAR GRANDMOTHER HAD BEEN PATIENTLY SITTING THERE FOR 2 HOURS THEY WOULD HAVE MADE AN EXCEPTION TO GET HER SEEN BUT THEY DID NOT!!! I don't know the referral coordinators name but she has a HORRIBLE DISPOSITION and the girl the check in desk that sits on the far left when you walk in the door has a HORRIBLE DISPOSITION too!! They did not even bother to ask the doctor if he would be willing to still see her as I'm pretty sure he would have had the final say as to if he was willing to see her. Needless to say I will not be rescheduling her and I must say even though I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Bedikan I am truly disgusted with the office staff in the Palos Hills office and unfortunately will be looking for another Ortho for my grandmother. read more

I had a traumatic injury to my ankle years ago; after two years of recovery due to THREE hospital acquired infections, I have never gone to another dr, as my final option to amputate was remove all hardware and basically live with it! In the recent year I've been battling a complicated disease, I have a new look on life. Therefore I attempted to finally trust a dr to look at this ankle, at the mokena office and once again the dr let me down. I have barely recovered from a full hysterectomy 6 weeks ago. Upon arrival I waited in line and other patients arrived after me and left before I had been seen, which after asking if they forgot me, I was frowned upon and was told my appt was at 1110, the receptionist who I made appt with told me to arrive at 1045, well it was then 1130! How dare they loudly inform patients of their appt time when u asked me to arrive early! upon being called back I was then led to X-ray without any conversation with any dr or anyone at all, upon meeting the dr she said we will give a steroid injection and said in a form of rude way no pills, I'm not sure why she would say that, I'm a 46 year old mom and wife I've never felt so insulted, I am sure they can see on the Illinois drug check system I DO NOT take pills! And then it crossed my mind, my red converse with my polar bear sweater and cheetah jacket must have painted a picture, and I also did receive pain pills 20 I might add for my hysterectomy! Before that I can't recall when I have ever taken anything more than ibuprofen on a pain level of 10 I take medical marijuana and I'm fine WITHOUT opioids, considering my hysterectomy was to rid cancer! Bcbs ppo too, lol However if dr would have taken time to speak to me she would have known about Me and my little hysterectomy shame on you dr and shame on you no follow up nor any explanation of my steroid injection. I described my symptoms to three different doctors here, was misdiagnosed once, had two MRI's just to find out I basically had diagnosed myself and did not qualify for surgery to repair my hip. The only option was a PRP procedure in which the doctor required $750 up front before the procedure was even done! I am disappointed with the doctors here. I am disappointed that all I had to do was google my symptoms to find out a diagnosis which took a costly MRI for them to figure out. I am an on time person, when I have an appointment I arrive on time. Each appointment there has been a reason why I can't be seen at my scheduled appointment time, the receptionist (i don't know her name but she has glasses) is rude, I don't care to interact with her. I believe in canceling appointments if you are unable to attend never no show. read more
