On 4/17 I went to Midas in Thorndale for an auto inspection. They discovered an oil leak and said that I needed a new filter housing, which would cost over $400. This was a recommendation and not required to pass inspection. I took my car to a different local shop today (4/21) and was told that I only needed the gasket replaced, which is a $30 part, and less than $150 total for the part, labor, and oil change. Beware and get a second opinion if recommendations don't sound right. Also, my tag light bulb was out and they wanted to charge me $37 to replace it- $1.99 for the bulb and the rest was labor. This was required for the inspection so I told them that I would replace the bulb myself and come back for the inspection sticker. After I said that, they found a $30 coupon to apply to the service. Small things like light bulbs and wipers can be easily replaced, and you can save a lot of money doing these things yourself or having someone you know do them for you. read more

I called ahead to schedule an oil change and mentioned I had a coupon for the $34 synthetic blend service. Over the phone, the associate insisted my vehicle "required" full synthetic oil -- which is false. It's a 2012 Japanese model, nothing exotic, and I've been working on cars for over 20 years. When I pointed out the manufacturer's actual recommendation, he reluctantly agreed. When I arrived for my appointment, another representative again tried to upsell me on full synthetic. After I showed proof that my vehicle doesn't require it, he changed his story, claiming they only had synthetic oil "in stock" for my type of car. My time was completely wasted. I won't pay $84 for an oil change on a 12-year-old vehicle. These tactics are misleading and unacceptable. read more

This place needs to get someone that can help customers with better info and show up on time. Call ahead to schedule new brakes asked of they could do a dully truck and the response is if it is not over 9k and the curb weight is 8300 but still refuse to do after scheduled then the key holder was and 1.5 late to open they refuse to do the work. read more

Took my car in for an oil change that was fine and only took about an hour. A month or so later decided to take it in again after complaint of a screeching noise coming from what sounded to be the front passenger side of the car. Sat for an hour and was told there was nothing wrong with it other than a piece of plastic rubbing the rear brake line coursing noise. On the drive there I was swerving around my lane and knew there was something more wrong. I voice concern and just a shrug in response. So a couple days later I took it into my usual big repair shop and was told sighing an hour that the car was in bad shape. The rear passenger tire was bent inward. Turns out the control arm was broken and the wheel could've come off at high speeds. Don't know how a mechanic could've missed that after cutting some plastic right near it but who knows. Will only ever come back here for oil changes since they're only $40. read more

*****Don't Come Here--Avoid by all cost***** They lost their PA state inspection and emission license and they don't tell you upfront. They will take your car then bring it next door to Mr Tires for the inspection. Mr Tire works on their cars first before they get to you. I have an appointment to bring the car in at 8am and it didn't get done until 3pm. I waited and waited and Becky who is the manager doesn't update you. Mike, who used to work here is professional and know what he is doing. Becky who is taking over is rude, unprofessional, and doesn't have any clue about cars so don't even bother asking her about cars. Observing her all day long, all she does is smoke behind the counter in the Work Area and only comes to the front when customers walks in. Most repair shops like PetBoys or Advanced Auto- you can only smoke outside the work area but she smokes in the area where cars are being worked on, and the ashes are dumped in the trash can with cardboard inside. If you must go to a Midas, don't come to this one! read more

Dtown Midas is great! Luke and everyone else are always fun, kind, and helpful. Safe place for women, you won't be taken advantage of or talked down to!!! Since Mike left this place has gone downhill. I spend the whole afternoon in the DD because I couldn't stand listening to the non-stop TRUMP bashing on the TV. They lost my contact number so couldn't tell me the extent of the service recommendations until I walked back into the waiting room 4 hours later!!! read more

$980 for a simple windshield wiper fix. When coming to pick the car up (after telling them to not do the work), everything was completely disassembled hours after we called and canceled the fix. Had to wait for over an hour and a half for them to put one part back together. The manager was a nice guy but his incompetence was overwhelming. read more

I took my car there to get it inspected. They wouldn't pass me because of my seat belt spring roller, fog light ''wobbly'' little loose, my parking brake which all these have NOTHING to do with State inspection. I got my car done in Harrisburg no problems. The real kicker is that they said my back brake light was blown. So after I left and got home I took out the broken bulb and it was a clear bulb that was burnt. The lights in the glove box that are used on my car are orange. So they replaced my working bulb with a broken bulb of their own thinking I was some schmuck. What they did was criminal. If they continue to do this they will be get in serious trouble. Don't go there!! Do NOT TRUST these people. Be warned of overpricing and a bratty kid in the business which is so unprofessional. read more

Horrible customer service and bad brake job. My brake situation was not complicated! Had to bring it back after hearing metal grinding.

I brought my truck in for two tries to be replaced, upon picking it up I noticed my truck looked different from when I dropped it off, turns out when they were working on my truck they broke off the driver side in-channel window vent. No one said a word to me about this but instead stuck a pair of cheap autozone tape on vents in my back. When I started my truck my tire pressure warning light came on notifying me that my tires were over inflated. The truck calls for 38 lbs, the max pressure on the tires was 42 lbs but the tires were inflated to 52 lbs.....10 lbs over the max pressure from the manufacturer. Will never bring any vehicles here ever again. read more

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. Took my car in to have the crankshaft position sensor replaced. I was charged nearly 3 times the NAPA price which is who supplies the part and is 7-8 minute drive down the street. I then get told that I have a "large oil leak" that I did not have upon going to them. They also performed an oil change with oil I supplied while noticing this "leak." I take it to my home mechanic in MD while having to stop every 45 minutes for 3 hours to put oil in my car so that my engine doesn't blow. Needless to say this was more than a leak. The oil was GUSHING out. My mechanic looks at it and low and behold the oil pressure switch that is located right next to the crankshaft sensor has been damaged and needed to be replaced. So after the paying nearly $600 plus the cost of travel and oil, I call the store manager Mike up, tell him the scenario, and even bring in the actual invoice. He tells me "at store level the most he can give me back is $50 or a couple of oil changes." I decline and request an amount that I thought was fair which he told me he would need to send to his district manager. I called back twice to check on the status. Never heard from the store manager Mike of the district manager. Needless to say I would not recommend using this company. I should also add that while I was waiting for my car to be repaired, another couple was also waiting and the store employee came over to tell them that the mechanic working on their car had broken the brake line and so they wouldn't be charged but would need to wait an extra hour. So their mehanics broke parts on two cars within the matter of a couple of hours. read more

I took the car into this Midas and they took my car in, gave me a ride to the conference, and promised the car would be done on time. They kept their word. What would have been a very stressful situation instead reminded me that great service still exists. read more

I have had bad experiences with 2 other places before coming here. I thought Midas would be better, but after a year of coming here, they are no different. They were supposed to do a transmission flush and come to realize they did not even do it. My transmission fluid is dark in color. And no, I do not have any transmission issue to cause it to be dark. They never did the flush. I am VERY disappointed in the fact of how much a transmission flush is and for it to not even have been done properly. read more

Took my car here for an inspection. Was told we needed two new tires, new brake shoes, a stabalizer bar and a lightbulb to pass inspection. Took to a dealership for a second opinion and the only thing that needed to be repaired to pass inspection was the two tires and light bulb. Sure glad we got the second opinion. The brakes and stabilizer bar would have cost us a lot of money we didn't need to spend. Won't return here again. read more
