I was traveling to New Jersey and my check engine light went off. Stopped by this place because it was the nearest mechanic off the turnpike. The gentleman who helped me was very kind and friendly. Did a basic check on my Prius and topped off some fluids and sent me on my way. Didn't even charge me. He recommended that if my check engine light goes off again, I should go to another mechanic because it's probably not a minor thing. My car ended up getting towed 13 miles later, which sucks. Despite that, I am grateful for him taking a few minutes of his time to help someone. Thank you! read more

Brought the wife's car in with a dead battery. They replaced the battery and alternator and I was charged $800.00. It seemed expensive but I was ok with it as I don't mind paying more for quality work. Got the car home and noticed a burning smell. Silly me didn't immediately investigate thinking it was the new alternator breaking in. A few days later, I popped the hood to check the oil when I noticed the coolant recovery bottle was wedged against the catalytic converter and melted away from the heat. It seems the tech removed the recovery bottle to work on the alternator, wedged it against the catalytic converter, then forgot to clamp it back into its proper position causing it to melt away. Really, $800 for careless work. Now I'm worried about the alternator install, hopefully, the belt is not over tensioned and doesn't cause any further problems. Never going back there again. read more

Finally.......an honest auto service!!!! I recently had car inspected a dealership and was told that I had cracked air filter case and was quoted over $800.00 for the repair. I saw the ad for Arty's Automotive and decided to take me car there. They ordered the needed part and scheduled my appointment. I entered Arty's and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. My car was taken to be worked on very quickly. Within 15 minutes, Arty came out and said that he could not find anything wrong with the air filter cover...he also contacted the dealership to see if they could provide more information (they could not). When Arty and his team put the cover back on they noticed the small plastic piece that was broken (the piece that the dealership wanted to charge over $800.00 for!! Arty explained that the everything fit back together without any issues....I was not charged for the visit. I also was not charged for the $140.00 part that was ordered. I found Arty's listed on the website for Air Lift products as an installer. I called them for help with an incomplete Air Lift installation one of their competitors unfortunately stuck me with. In less than a day's notice, they put together a solution and finished the installation for me. Arty and his team do nice work, and are inventive enough to figure things out when the solution isn't clear. They were also very fast and reasonably priced. If you need an airlift system or any other auto or truck work done, I highly recommend giving them a shot. read more

My daughter's car broke down and had to be towed. I knew of Arty's but had never used their business before. I called, told them the car was being towed in and what we thought the problem was. The staff was very helpful and polite and I received a call back the same day that the car was fixed and ready. To my amazement, it was a very simple problem. The Friday before Christmas my Jeep suffered what turned out to be a pretty catastrophic failure in the clutch assembly. I left my Jeep at Arty's and during the long holiday, Arty and his team of talented mechanics disassembled and diagnosed what became an even bigger problem than first thought. I feel like I've been trying to find an honest mechanic shop my entire life. I am very happy that I found one, and as an added bonus it is local. Art is very thorough and runs an honest shop. The first time I went there there was a slight issue, but as soon as I addressed it Art was very apologetic and made sure to change internal processes to ensure the mistake wouldn't happen again. It's obvious that Art just wants to run an honest mechanic shop, and I have taken my vehicle back there since because he runs a shop that I can trust. Most of the negative reviews on here are either bogus, or people just being unhappy that there car requires expensive repairs. I can tell you that after being quoted for work between dealerships and Arty's Auto Service, I will always be taking my car back to Arty's Auto for the personal touch. Artys is a hack shop... took my explorer there to have a brake line replaced. They charged me to replace the whole line and instead "repaired" the line. When I got my car back it was leaking brake fluid from the "repair". Took it too a real mechanic and had it fixed right. Be aware he deleted his Facebook account to hide bad repairs. read more

Very nice folks at this location. However, would strongly recommend you obtain written quote before having service performed. Cost for service was 40% ($800) higher than verbally quoted. They did knock $100 off but I was on the fence about having work performed as the car had high mileage and I was thinking about selling/trading in instead of incurring expense. I am not implying I was overcharged or the service performed was not legitimate; just upset I committed to work based on one price and then charged a much higher price. The reason given for why I was not called advising the cost would be much higher was because Art got tied up with his kids. read more

Incredible service and honest place to take my cars. For several years they have serviced four of my cars. They were upfront about costs and have worked with me and my budget. My father was a mechanic for 30 years. After getting service done a couple times my dad checked out my cars. He pointed our repairs they had done to help me. They did not charge me as well. Check your vehicle after you leave this shop. I took my truck to this shop for inspection. They told me it needed a ball joint and I asked for a front end alignment. After many hours of waiting, and close to $500 .00 later, the truck was supposedly finished and I drove home. I checked the lug nuts and found one finger tight. Other lug nuts were not torqued to the correct foot pounds. So-called mechanics better learn to finish a job. I will not return to this shop. read more
