I had another mold remediation company come out to take a look at my basement music studio. They sent out three guys and right away told me they need to rip out the dry wall and throw everything away and rebuild. Triggers. We all have them. For me*, I can't handle creepy crawlies, gross things or, generally, anything that can make me gag. More specifically, I have a big thing about mold. Back when I lived in Miami Beach, I rented a disgusting rehabbed apartment (rent was higher than the mortgage on my current home). One of the many challenges of that dump was that the duct work was never changed from when the building was an actual crack house. Yes, you read that right. No, I had no prior knowledge. Yes, I wanted to chase down my realtor. Beyond all the illegal horrors that I was breathing in, the ducts were full of mold. This made breathing more than a little difficult. Through prayer, threats, an awesome new realtor, doctor's orders, and a drafted legal petition, I escaped from that nightmare but the psychic damage was done. Fast forward to last fall when I spotted a brown spot in my bathroom. I was ready to move. Unnerved, I researched the Jelps for someone to call. I found Rob. I messaged him through the Request A Quote feature and he responded extremely quickly. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and calm (!), he was honest. He had me talk through the step by step specifics I saw and he diagnosed my problem. Not only was it not serious, it wasn't worth him coming out and charging me his flat fee. He recommended what my next course of action should be and gave me his info to follow up if that didn't work. Wow. I was an easy mark. I was all-to-willing to bring a gun to a knife fight and I would have paid out the nose to do so. Had Rob been unethical, he could have taken me for a long expensive ride. He isn't and he didn't. Following his suggestions (what to buy and do), my 'problem' was cleared up in an afternoon, my (relative) sanity was restored and my faith in people went up a few notches. I hope to never have need of Rob's services but, if I do, I am secure that I have a skilled professional on my side who will fix the problem. I absolutely do not recommend Middle Tennessee Mold Remediation. The initial meeting went well (obviously, we hired him). I was impressed that he didn't try to scare my wife, or upsell on separate projects/services, and he seemed knowledgeable. He was somewhat sales-ish, but that's to be expected - he was selling something. We agreed to the project, and signed the documents. Almost immediately the money talk started - It's not UNCOMMON for a contractor to require a deposit, but it does start you wondering. We went ahead and agreed to the 50% up front, however Rob wasn't happy to find out my bank (USAA) had a several-day holding period on checks, and began pressuring my wife for another form of payment. We weren't pushing him to start right away, or before he had the money, had no issue writing the check and waiting, but this was apparently not satisfactory to him. We ended up Venmo-ing his wife half (which seemed very shady, but we did get a receipt). So work commenced. The day before they were supposed to finish, Rob asked me for another $1000, because it was "bigger than he expected." He never went into the crawlspace on the initial inspection, and instead estimated square footage based on the interior dimensions of the house - and we had a signed contract. That said, I felt the price was still worth it and agreed. The morning they were to finish the work (before they were even done), Rob was asking my wife about the other half of the payment. Nothing about how it looked, how happy we were, how his team did, but "when can I get a check." She told him I would need to look it over before we released the money and he started calling me about it. I reiterated that I would need to inspect the work first, he replied"So...I can get a check tomorrow?" Upon inspecting the work, I found multiple crawlspace penetrations (AC boots, electrical, etc.) that had not been foamed per the contract. I could see dirt in several places (which is not what "encapsulation" is supposed to be), and most of the brick pillars supporting the house had not been wrapped. Nothing at all had been done with the attic penetrations, which was also part of the contract. He did send a guy out to fix it, which they did partially (foamed the attic penetrations and most of the crawlspace, but failed to wrap the pillars and plug other gaps in the crawlspace. Additionally, we had mold in an upstairs closet that they remediated. Part of this was supposed to include cleaning and individually bagging all items in this closet before moving them to another room. NOTHING was bagged. I'm not even sure any of it was cleaned, but I can't say that for sure. It was all just haphazardly thrown in the other room. Almost immediately after they came out and "fixed" things, Rob started asking me about payment again. And again with the issue with my bank taking too long. We ended up writing him three checks so he could get "paid faster" because for some reason he couldn't wait for the bank. He said he would have someone come out and finish the fixes the following week, but never did send anyone. I finally told him not to bother and have another contractor coming to finish the work. I Highly do NOT recommend Middle Tennessee Mold Remediation, or Rob Parsons. read more

We had a great experience with Rob and his crew. We had a different company initially come to remove mold from a known leak and they did not end up doing a thorough job. Rob came to our home to do an inspection and was able to find addtional areas of mold and develop a plan for remediation. Our son is very sensitive to mold and it was making him sick, so Rob and his team were very careful to encapsulate the work area and used all of the necessary equipment for safe treatment. They were also able to do some addtional mold remediation in our crawl space, which made a huge difference in air quality. My son is now feeling much better and I owe it to the fantastic job Rob and his team did to safely and throughly remove and treat the mold in our home. He came by, gave an assessment, explained everything in clear terms and gave us options...not a list of things that had to be done. He starts with the basics and doesn't automatically jump to a "fix" if it's not needed. Fortunately for us, we did not have a major issue. It's great knowing that there are companies that take the time to actually put consulting first and have "making a sale" down the list. We were very please with this company's work on our home in Williamson County. Our back bedroom needed extensive floor work and the supports were put in after cleaning, with crawlspace lined and sealed. They came back when called to check on an issue and did extra work under the original contract, telling us that they were committed to getting all issues addressed.
