Con artist! My unit started out at $130-140 and after rent increases every few months I'm now paying $235 a month for a 10x10. They also get over on the move out policy because they don't prorate it. You HAVE to schedule move it dates before the 1st of the month or you'll be charged another month. I tried to schedule a move out date on the 3rd for the end of the month. I was then told because it's past the 1st of the month I would have to pay for the entire next month even though the unit would be empty before the 1st of the month. RENTERS BEWARE! read more

Escalating fees not at pace with economy. Poor customer service. Inflexible and non-responsive management. The facility is aware it is difficult to relocate your items without incurring additional cost so they continue to increase rates at an unfair pace. I had an issue with a stolen credit card and was on autopay and the numbers were supposed to update automatically on all of my autopay accounts. When this did not occur, I was notified by this merchant and immediately updated my card numbers. They did not put them in the system and I was still charged a late fee. The manager has yet to return my calls and I was told they would not waive the late fee despite being an upstanding customer for years. read more

I've been renting a spot for my RV for the last year and have rented storage units off and on over several years. I have never paid late or missed a payment. Midgard bought a facility in Okahumpka, FL from Florida Secure Storage about 6 months ago. 30 days ago they notified me that they didn't have a signed lease from the previous owner. I informed them that I amd moving out by April. They then informed me that the notice changed and by their new rules, I have to give them 30 days advance notice so I would have to pay for April too. I paid them through April 29 and gave them my notice. Today, April 1, 2023, they charged me a $100.00 missing document fee. I want them tp show me where they have a legal right to charge these fee's or refund my money. If you have to rent from them, read the fine print. I didn't have that luxury. They keep their "climate controlled" units at 80 degrees. Mold can grow in this temperature. Not a fan of the companies policies.

Read the contract carefully before you sign. It gives them the right to raise your rates in any way they want (30% in one increase), and they notify you of the increase with less than 3 days to file your intent to vacate. If you don't notify them of your intent to vacate within those 3 days, you'll end up paying for at least two more months, no matter when you clean out the unit. A 5x5 climate control unit price started at $97 on July 25th. By December the price was $120. I had no choice but to continue. By December 9th, I had the unit empty but I am still being charged for the month of January, another $120. This is an archaic abuse of power by this company. I live on social security, $1400 a month, and I cannot afford to be ripped off for an EMPTY storage unit! Their claim is the unit needs cleaned and swept. There was no mess to clean at all and I can guarantee they'll rent that unit out tomorrow if the need arises. The manager was great and this policy is corporate not his idea. However, ripping off honest folks is very bad business and I'd recommend finding any place other than Midguard Self Storage. read more

New Customers beware!!! If you are going to have a storage unit for more than 2 months a rate increase will happen. I rented a storage unit at $198 a month & in 2 months they hiked the price up $40. $40 is a 20% increase!!! They told me there could be up to 2 rent increases a year. read more

I would give the facility a 5. The units are clean, area is safe, management is helpful. However. They continually raise the prices every six months. It was already more expensive than others, but I chose it because of its proximity to my home. However, my rates have gone up almost a hundred dollars per month over the past year. I would have NEVER used this business if I had realized it would jump that much. I am currently paying almost $440 per month for the same size unit I paid $300 per month for in town off Archer Rd. Looks nice and organized BUT! If I could give a negative rating I would. The signs are plastered everywhere that you must give 30 days to vacate. As per the rules, we gave 30 days on the 15th and the clerk actually said we needed to give the notice by the 1st of the previous month to not pay for 45 days to vacate. Called to speak to someone and they give a weird reason? Said she would get back with me...still waiting! GO TO ANOTHER self storage place! Don't like to give negative but if it helps someone else not to make my mistake...just tooo many reasons (big gap in my unit, lights on but no one in office, to give larger flat bed wheels...list goes on) take your belongings to another place. I will preface this with it is a nice safe tidy location. HOWEVER, this place will not be helpful at all when it comes to advocating for the consumer. It is my fault for not paying attention/following up sooner with my intention to vacate/removing lock (though nothing was in storage unit nor had I been back to location after signing my formal contract to vacate my unit). They still proceeded to bill me more than 700$ through the months since the cancellation without notifying me that there was any issue with my formal vacating contract. According to the district manager essentially this was "too much work/they are too busy because of their volume" to do what would be conventionally right and notify the consumer of issues. I cannot recommend this place due to this and I would 100% take my business elsewhere to a place that cares about its consumers and not just about making top dollar. I would be weary also as district manager covers 8 locations according to another employee I spoke to so I would caution you to really think about the type of business you choose to store with. Rates are not fair, Very over priced, late fees, and what they call "overlock fee" is not fair. In my opinion this is not a family community business. It was at one time when the Hawley family owned it, the Hawley Family really took care of their clients and our community. those days are long gone. I will be moving out of this high dollar, very over priced storage place as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor and look other places to rent. read more

If I could give this place a zero rating I would. They are selfish and unreasonable. They are not will to work with you at all if something goes wrong. DO NOT USE THEM!! All they want is your money and they will find every way possible to get it. Don't expect them to call or notify you if something goes wrong instead they will just let your account rack up with fees and charges without you knowing. Then force you to pay them. If you don't it goes into collections. It was a very nice facility and the storage units were great but this place is ran by unreasonable people. read more

Have raised my rate significantly -- twice since in less than a year! I gave 30 days' notice on 12/3, the day after I got the latest rate change notice, yet they insist on charging me through 1/31. Now charging $198/month (with tax) for 10x10! Exorbitant. read more

I would highly recommend avoiding this business. They are rude and when my 75 year old mother complained that they had raised her fees with no notice they bullied her! They were so aggressive and loud she was afraid to go back. Shameful. read more
