I visited this coffee shop (Rebranded as "Midnight Coffee") for a latte and breakfast sandwich after a Monday morning workout. Here were my thoughts: Food/Drink: Breakfast Sammy (Small portion but big taste. Not the best breakfast I've ever had yet well above the worst! The aioli knocked my rating up a a point or two for sure. Rating = 7.7/10). Iced vanilla latte (Rock solid latte. It was exactly what I needed to start my week. Nothing flashy but man did that cup get the job done today. Rating = 7.8/10). Service: Nothing to complain about. Drink and food came out quick and accurately. Ambiance: The shop was pretty quiet on this particular morning. I could definitely picture it as a great place to read a book, lock in to some work, or hang out with friends. Overall, this is a great place to get your caffeine fix in the Iowa River Landing area. Also note - this local chain of coffee shops was formerly named "Coffee Emporium" but recently rebranded to "Midnight Coffee" earlier this year. read more

I popped in for a sugar cookie latte and a business meeting on a Friday morning. No complaints on the beverage! But the table we opted to chat at was super duper wobbly. Pricing seems on par. The amount of seating is limited, as is the menu. It's open daily. Parking is pretty hit or miss at this location, depending on the day or the time. We found this spot waiting on a volleyball game. It has the coffee shop feel and smell so that is always nice. The seating is cozy. I had the Chai Tea Latte which had a nice spice. The Ham Jam was great as it is a nice mixture of sweet and savory. They had one person in the kitchen so it was a bit slow but it was nice to sit and relax. read more

The place is clean and looks well maintained. The woman working there seemed highly inconvenienced to have to serve us. Not making eye contact or smiling or generally even acknowledging that we were there. Honestly seemed like she was annoyed to have any customers at all. The cold brewed coffee was not very good so I wouldn't recommend that either. I would not recommend this place based on my experience, but maybe if you get another employee and order something different you'd have a great experience. read more

I needed a place to swing by to get a couple hours of work done and get caffeinated, so I found Coffee Emporium! I definitely would come back for the vibes and drinks! Parking: The parking spots right outside the building have a 2 hour limit - not sure how heavily enforced this is in the Iowa River Landing. I wanted to stay a bit longer, but did not want to risk it. Ambiance: I liked the ambiance here. Plenty of seating, nicely decorated, and lots of natural lighting with big windows. It was a good place to sit down and get some work done, with plenty of outlets. There are tables as well as bar seating with stools at the windows. Drink: I ordered an iced chai latte. Solidly made, no complaints! It was a hot day and I needed to refuel, so it got the job done! Service: Quick and friendly. I had to ask for the WiFi password and they were more than willing to share it! Only complaint: It was a bit toasty inside the shop for comfort. I was not sweating profusely or anything, but I definitely got up a few times to stand in front of a fan. They have an air conditioning unit running, but it was still warm inside. It may have just been the one time I went, though. If you are just looking for a place to swing by and grab a coffee, this should not be an issue! Very nice coffeehouse with a rustic appeal that's cozy and welcoming. Cappuccino was on point, and as I've mentioned in my numerous coffee reviews, this place has a single size for the cappuccino as any place making a real cappuccino should (the drink is a double shot, and then the same amount of steamed milk and the same again of foamed milk - so a 6oz drink). Anything purporting to be more than 6oz is going to be a latte. This was the best coffeehouse I encountered during my trip to Coralville. Good on them! read more

On a road trip back to Des Moines and really needed a quality espresso (near the interstate)... unfortunately, this did not impress. I spend a lot of time and money in coffee shops and I was floored at how quiet this shop was. I was whispering in conversation, thinking I might be too loud. So if you want to work or read this might be a nice place! If you're there for breakfast or to chat, maybe not and kinda felt uncomfy. I was super disappointed that they weren't using homemade syrups... it really does matter and makes a latte worth the $6.25 price tag. Shaken iced espresso is always so much better too! This is an intimate coffee shop in a large shopping complex near a Von Maur store. The service is very friendly. The day that I visited this shop, they were out of espresso and had no less than four signs saying they were out. There are plants and wood tables with thin black metal chairs. The price was slightly high for my 24 oz cold brew with sugar free caramel, cream and splenda but worth it. The coffee is mostly smooth which is a huge plus for me. They also have sandwiches and a selection of magazines if you're one of the rare people who doesn't play on their smartphone. Highly recommended. 4.7 out of 5 read more

I loved everything about this little shop in the Iowa River Landing! They weren't busy when I went in and the service I received was amazing. They had a variety of coffee, other drinks, and food options (I'll definitely be back to try something for breakfast). It was rather odd that when I went in they only had oatmilk as an option for milk, they were out of everything else. However, I like oatmilk so this was no problem for me. I'm totally ready to hole up here all day and drink coffee and study once school starts! read more

Stopped in at 2:35pm on a weekday last week at the Coralville Coffee Emporium and asked for a sandwich. Was told not possible because they had closed the kitchen down. I asked if the kitchen was usually closed at this time and was told that "yeah, sometimes we close it at 2 or 3". No other explanation was given, I saw nothing posted about this early closing time. This has happened to me several times at this particular coffee shop. It's tiresome and exasperating. I will not be back. read more

My husband and I often stop here on our way through to Chicago for a decent cuppa. Today I received a lukewarm greeting and eagerly ordered a cup of Ethiopian. Then I heard the dreaded "gurgling" sound only made by an empty pump pot. She continued to pump the sputtering lukewarm fluid out when I stopped her and kindly said "excuse me but that just doesn't sound very fresh,right?" She shrugged. (I'll insert here that this was 315 pm. Only 1 table full but open until 6. No excuses. She was on her phone when I walked in.) I said "maybe I will take the dark roast after all." She shrugged and asked what she should do with the lukewarm splashes of Ethiopian in the cup. (Really?) I suggested dumping it in the sink 4 inches from her. She did.
