First time at Midnight Market and I got VIP tickets. The VIP area was pretty packed with the after-work crowd, but it had a cute bar in the back called The District--I tried the lavender spritz, and if you love lavender like I do, it's a must. -196 also had a booth with lemon vodka seltzer, which was interesting. There were a lot of food vendors, but I recommend walking around first, some spots sold out of items I wanted. I tried the shrimp, crab, and cheese spring rolls from Rell's Kitchen--so good and a great size (I wish I got two!). The birria spring roll from Stop Drop N Roll was also top tier. The spinach and cheese roll was decent. I had to get some veggies in lol. To wash it all down, I got a strawberry colada from Aqua Frescas Juice... definitely tasted like diabetes in a cup. lol. I'll travel for food. I went to Jersey City for a outdoor food festival with all foods under $7. It's a perfect place to chill with friends or on a date. It's 21 and over event. They had a DJ and a silent party at an additional cost at the end. It was located at 902 Brewing at a brewery which had indoor and outdoor games, beers, seating and a Photo Booth. I enjoyed my empanada, the passionfruit ice cream from Anhelado was yummy, the Oh K dog was good but a bit to much dough for me.The alcoholic gummy bears from Dilena's Dolcini were the truth; the strongest one was the Tequila, we also tried the mojito and rum punch. We had a beer inside and the DJ was on point. Have been going to Midnight Market for a couple of years now! It never disappoints! Always a great time. I have introduced it to several friends. Parking can be on street or in parking lot you will have to pay. There is public transportation everywhere too. They always have the best vendors and DJ's. Photos booths and games. Bring cash that's what everyone accepts. The best part is you can try as many items as you want or have room for lol! Then dance off all those calories. They host on Friday's. This was such a sweet event!! I LOVE supporting local businesses and even more so, women owned businesses (75 percent of the them are operated or owned by females!). It goes from 6:30 to midnight, but I highly recommend getting there around 6:30-7:30. I was able to get everything I wanted without having to deal with outrageous lines. Also, I suggest bringing a wad of cash (maybe 50 or so bucks in 1s and 5s). I ended up spending 35 bucks on food with my husband, and we got approximately 7 items. There is nothing there more than $7 bucks. An ATM is located on site, but why not make your life easier? The food I had was SO amazing. There was a good mix of sweet and salty food with several different types of cuisines represented (Asian, Mexican, Italian, etc). I didn't try any of the drinks, but that's something I'll do next time.There was also a photo booth and some pretty fantastic music! When it gets later (around 8 PM), the lines start getting cray cray. It's actually pretty annoying, but you can avoid this by getting there earlier. Also, you don't have to eat where all the commotion is. Do yourself a favor and go to the way back where there are more room/tables/chairs and less people. Obviously there is no parking cuz it's Jersey City, but I was able to find a street spot with no issue (probably because it's the dead of February). There are a few garages and a lot (I thought I saw a sign for a $5 lot) next to the atrium, but if you can take the train, power to you! I think this event happens every second Friday of the month. If this is the case, I'm going to go back in March or April and bring some more friends along to help spread the word! read more

Got to enjoy the Midnight Market in Jersey City last night. Although I loved the food vendors at the event I do wish there was more because the mount of people in the venue was insane. Last night I got to try food from Tojo Kitchen, Hold My Knots, and Baoanas. Baoanas never disappoints! I love their original, but I had the Oreo and it was pack with Oreo bits and banana flavor. Tojo Kitchen was preparing food fresh to order and you could taste it! They even had someone filling dumplings on site. I had the original Korean chicken which had good flavor, my friend has the dumplings and she said they were delicious. The vendor I was most excited for was Hold My Knots and it was my least favorite thing of the night. I ordered a chicken parm slider and the chicken was really thin and the garlic button was baked on to the garlic knot, just slapped on. I would have loved to try more places and even taste one of the cool bucket liquor drinks I kept seeing, but as I said the amount of people in that place was insane! Lines were 20 mins+, even the quick entry line was a wait. There wasn't many seats and the dance floor didn't really exists because it was so many people. The first time I've heard about this event was from my friend. I thought it was cool because I've never been to an indoor food festival. I feel like that gives everyone a chance to be able to come and enjoy the experience no matter what the weather is. The prices range from five dollars to 10 depending. I think that the prices. For the food that you're going to eat is very reasonable it's sometimes $5-$7 which is very reasonable. They have a DJ they also have games and of course the food there's a wide variety. Great time to spend with your friends family love ones etc. they usually host one every month in Jersey City so definitely make it a mission to visit at least once. read more

I met up with Jabriel J., Edgar V., and Ramsey A. at the Midnight Market in JC one Friday night. I have visited night markets in India, Thailand, and the Philippines. This is not a night market, this is a food court. I had to pay a $5 entrance fee, which isn't bad, but I ended up spending more time waiting in lines than actually eating the food I got. There wasn't much to do in the market besides eat either. I think I saw some giant Jenga, but there was a wait for that too. They had a dance floor going in the back but I would've went to a club if I wanted that. I think I'd only go again if I knew a specific vendor I wanted to try the food from were attending. read more

Very interesting and fun event!! I had the opportunity to try different kinds of delicious food from different vendors for only $5. You couldn't beat this anywhere you went. I was blown away on how fresh and flavorful a the food was. It wasn't just appealing to the eyes but all my senses were in pure bliss. Rice ball was the best I ever had. I asked the owner several times where was his restaurant. I wanted to eat everything he makes. He laughed with the compliment. Garlic knots sliders were so fresh and tasty. I tried chicken Parmesan slider it was so tender. But the meatball was amazing. I should have taken some home. I hope they will be there on the next event I'm going to stack up. We tried the Portuguese pulled pork sandwich it was good. I tried the different flavored donuts covered with all kind of goodness. It's definitely Jersey City secret event!! First time at the midnight market and I want to go back every month now! It was such an awesome event! So much variety of many different foods from local business. The music was great. The vibe was incredible. It's something new and different for jersey city. There is no parking but I did park in a lot nearby. Bring cash because it's cash only. I saw there were ATMs available. Nothing is more than $7 but I did see at the bar, cocktails were $8. Everything is bite sized and in small portions though. There were a few activities. Jumbo jenga, virtual reality, trapeze, and a photo booth is all that I saw. I believe I saw that coat check was $2. I can't wait for next months event to try other different foods. Lisi and Perla of Midnight Market are awesome! What a business they run and create such a terrific event for so many people to enjoy. Everything about the event is diverse, from its customers, vendors, to food. All very affordable, $5 to get in and most vendors have food for just $5. The food is more than bite size, but small enough that you can sample from a handful of vendors for the full effect of what they're creating. It's a great environment to socialize and meet new people. A welcomed addition to Jersey City which already has a great community vibe, but this simply fastens those bonds. Came to this event on Friday night, March 15th. We ordered our tickets online in advance and arrived very early. The place opened at 6:30pm and we got their by 7:00pm. The first hour was the best. Very small lines for all the food vendors and beer. I was able to try multiple food places, before it became super crowded. I cant remember all of the vendor names, but I had no complaints at all. A very good selection if items. Best part is that pretty much everything offered was only $5. All food items were $5 and all beers were only $5 as well. This was a great event to attend with friends, as ot was cheap and we all got to eat, drink, and had a blast! I see that they do this type of an event monthly, and i will definitely be back for another on in the future. read more

Such a great way to sample a variety of unique eats that you would normally never think to visit. Midnight Market brings this to Jersey City which is unbelievably cool. Stuff like this makes me love living in JC even more and more. In addition to the many food vendors, there are also lots of alcoholic bevvy options. Cocktails, wines and then beers on tap from Departed Soles. Drinks are very reasonable, around 5-6 a pop. There are also other activities to enjoy. A DJ spinning beats, a photobooth and a face painter just to name a few. The Harborside Atrium is a great home for the market. It's very open and spacious and there is plenty of room for the crowd. The atrium also has a great location and is right on the JC waterfront. Midnight Market has been running every month and each month there has been a different theme which keeps things interesting! When I visited the theme was dessert and there were so many different sweet vendors to choose from, plus savory food if you weren't feeling the sweets. Overall - this is something really cool and different to do in JC. You get to experience different foodie vendors from all over under one roof. The market is really well ran and the food vendors are top-notch. Can't wait to check it out again soon! read more

Midnight Market was pretty alright. The location was dope, first time in the area for me. We had to pay an entrance fee in which the tickets can be purchased online or in person. Basically, there were about 10 or less food vendors to choose from and it's cash only. Sorta like a mini Smorgasburg but with way less food and with live music. It can get a bit pricy with what they are charging if you consider the portion so that was kind of a turn off. The night we went, the DJ was in the front and the back was where all the photo booths are with 2 stands for drinks. What I did not get was both stands for drink were exactly the same but one was more expensive lol. Overall, the music was ok, pretty mainstream. When I heard about this, I wanted to go so badly. It's a great chance to sample the food from a lot of venders! Yes, I'm a greedy person about food! We got there a little bit before 7:30pm. The line was not bad at all. We could pay $5 cover/person & get in in 5 min. The coat check is $3/person right on the left after entering. A lot of people did use their coats to save the seats. It's not too crowded and not super hard to find seats. For the food, I tried sausage & bread from Taste of Portland, tuna poke bowl (brown rice) from House of Gains, Chinese quail eggs & bacon pancakes from brunch street, pork taco& avo cannoli from The Quac Spot, filet mignon sandwich from Garden Steaks & the cocktail Candypolitan. All of them were for 2 people. I know, we were hungry people! The food was good. My favorites were tuna poke bowl, Chichewa quail eggs & bacon pancake (on a stick). The tuna was fresh. I really liked their sauce and mixed with tuna & seaweed salad. The quail eggs and pancake were kinda overpriced. The cocktail was just ok. I think I'll get wines or beers next time. The hubster and I had such a great time at Midnight Market last night. With tons of food vendors there is definitely something for everyone there. They had pretty good DJs, giant jenga, a photo booth, and a trapeze tutorial. Boananas and whatever vodka lemonade drink I had were wonderful. We also had mini donuts and empanadas which were decent. I finally got to try Midnight Market and overall thought it was a good experience, but overpriced. A few things to note: 1.) The DJs for the 2019 Halloween theme were awesome. They had about three or four different DJs that were really getting the crowd to dance. The group of people on the dance floor were awesome. 2.) there were about 8- 10 food vendors and two bars. The food was decent, but nothing that wow'd me overall. The prices ranged from $7-$10 for each food item or drink. When you couple that with the price to get in ($24 for 2 people), the night really starts to add up. Each food item is smaller so the price can be small too. 3.) The cost to get in is way overpriced. Considering there's a street fair almost every other weekend in Jersey City that offers same or similar food vendors for free admission. 4.) spots to sit and eat are somewhat limited. 5.) It was tough to find out where the bars were vs. the food vendors. It would be cool if they could hand out a paper map. There was a photo booth but I couldn't find it. I had two different people ask me where the bars were. 6.) The Halloween decorations were cute, but was hoping for a little more Halloween theme, and more things to do. So I paid the extra $ to get early access at 6:30. Totally worth it just for the tables. It gets crowded and there isn't enough seating for everyone. They had one white, one red, a mixed drink and beer. All drinks were $5, which was totally reasonable. They had so much food. My favorite was the Indian samosa spot by far. Their salad and samosas were to die for. There were delicious shrimp tacos at the avocado spot. Empanadas mania was great. Brisket empanadas were nice. I got a shrimp and tofu Korean type dish, also amazing. They had a lot of desserts but I was too full to eat any. The waffles with egg nog looked good. Terrible experience. Came for cinco de mayo event with the intention it would be fun with a group of friends. Ticket online was $25 that was for entry only. Stood in 45 min line for entry to only experience more lines and waits for any food truck. To get a drink, you needed to first wait in another line to buy drink tickets. No signage explaining that. After that you get to wait on a 25 min line to use the bathroom, and after all of that, if you decide to stick around and eat, you get to wait on another line for food. Don't go. read more

11/04/16 - We arrived at 7:30 (an hour after they just opened) and got on line for food immediately. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the vendor informed all in line that they had sold out of their food for the evening. Dismayed, we went to line up for beverages instead which took about 20 minutes from back to front. No one was there to direct people that there were actually 3 lines, one for each bartender. We then got in a long line for arepas which were thankfully good. They luckily were one of the very few vendors left that had any food left by this point. We got on line for another vendor selling crispy rice with your choice of meat. By the time we were up front after another 10-15 minutes of waiting, they only had beef stew left and basically down to their last two servings. This was a pretty disappointing dish, however. Next, we got into the line for steak sandwiches only to be turned away after waiting in line as they had sold out also. After all that nonsense, we all just gave up and made our way back to the Grove Street area with our friends. This was honestly either poorly planned and managed by the event managers or each vendors themselves. The lines were long for any of the food booths and drink lines all night. And most of the vendors ran out of food just an hour after they opened doors! We were looking forward to sampling food from all the different vendors but this was a huge disappointment and waste of an Uber and $5 entry fee. We overheard them say that this was an ongoing event that was happening every first Friday of each month. If they are planning to keep this going, they need more vendors and better communication with their vendors. But I honestly would not come here again and recommend anyone who plan to go not to come here hungry. Make sure you come early so you can beat the hundreds to thousands of people they let in to this event. read more

Prices have changed a bit, but its still a really run way to spend a Friday night listening to music and picking your way through tons of different food vendors while enjoying a little adult beverage. I would recommend buying your tickets online so you can skip the line that forms usually after 7 p.m. in the front. There new location has very little seating available so I will recommend for you to travel light because you will be standing for most of the night and you need your hands to carry all the delicious food they offer. Boy am I happy I swung by here for some food! My friend Jabriel J. suggested we try this out since there were going to be a few places to grab a bite from. Also for five dollar bites, you couldn't beat that. So the entrance fee was five dollars, but if you purchased a ticket online you would be able to skip the entrance line and go straight in for a convince fee that was an extra $1.94 which sounded great. The thing is when we got there, there was no line other than the people who bought the tickets online. So while we were waiting on line, the people who didn't have tickets were the ones skipping the lines. A few people were complaint saying "false advertisement" "I thought we get to skip the lines", but it took about 2 minutes to get in. Once inside my friend and I scoped out the place and decided to stand in line for some BBQ brisket sliders from bearded one. That slider was mouthwatering goodness! Especially when you add spicy BBQ sauce, coleslaw, jalapeños, and pickled onion on top. After the slider, we stopped by the gauc spot to try their drunken jerk chicken taco. And though it didn't stand a chance next to the slider it was still a decent taco. And finally the moment I had been waiting for! The moffle bar! These mocchi infused waffle sticks were one of the best desserts I have tried in my entire 26 years of living. I had the drunken unicorn, while my friend got the smores. Hands down one of the BEST markets I've ever gone to. Period. End of story. The two women who run the market are incredible in how they organize these events. They bring their Midnight Market to Jersey City and most recently Brooklyn along with an amazing array of food vendors and wonderful DJs that keep the awesome vibes going. The most current Market took place at The Well in Brooklyn and food from C Bao Asian Buns, Rib In A Cup, Monk's Meat, 2 Dough Boyz, Eemas Cuisine and many more were there. One of the best reasons to go to these events is how inexpensive they are. Tickets average $5 as does most of the food you'll find. I honestly recommend experiencing one of these market events yourself. Follow their Instagram account and check out their website and make sure you make plans to go to the next one. Horrible customer service and poorly organized events. I've been to a couple of these pop up events hosted by Midnight Market including the one in Jersey City and another event called Instayum at the Garden State Plaza. Mediocre and tiny versions of Smorgasburg that you have to buy tickets for. Instayum was $25/person (no food/drink included) and had maybe 10-15 vendors. Not to mention they sent out an email 13 MINUTES before the event started to say they were running a half hour late to open. What a joke. read more

Great concept, just needs a bit more ironing out. The space crowded up quickly which often left us waiting in lines for 30 minutes or so. We tried Mozzarepa (frozen, out of a package), yet still good, Gringo's tacos, subpar, and karrage and gyoza (spicy and pretty good due to the fact that each gyoza was handmade). No desserts for us as it was super packed, so we left and went across the street. Drinks were limited, sangria quarts are your best bet. DJ was great, good mix of music. Maybe next time set a cap for the number of attendees. Also more gluten free options please. read more

My friends and I went to the midnight market at Magnolia Landing in Journal Square and had a blast. We sampled a few items: roasted pork, brisket slider, pork slider, fried wontons, and corn. The best thing I had was the fried wontons. They were flaky and delicious. This is the only item that I purchased twice besides the sangria! They have white and red sangria, wine and beer for sale. The white sangria was delicious. My friends didn't like the red. The DJ was so good. He played a little of everything but mostly old school reggae and hip hop. My friends and I had a blast dancing. The crowd was fun and energetic and by the end, most people were dancing. It started raining so we left around 9 pm. There are only a few tables so you have to come early to get one. We got there around 6 and all the tables were taken already. I probably would have left earlier if the music wasn't good especially with no place to sit down. Definitely a good time in JC.
