Chicken and beef gyro platter. Get it with everything.
    Le H.

Check out the pictures and expect to see the long lines! Worth the wait and the time to try their food. Tried the beef and chicken platter that comes on a bed of rice, lettuce, tomatoes and you need both the white sauce and the hot/spicy/red sauce. Thank me later!

One of our go to for inexpensive and delicious street food. We did this on Memorial Weekend Saturday in the pouring rain. The street fair on 6th Avenue was deserted. There was only one party of four in front of us but it took almost ten minutes! A note to visitors to our city, this is street food in the finest but not a fine dining venue. The people in front of us wanted to change this and that but they don't want those ! Normally the vendor takes literally seconds to put together our order ( as he did with ours when we finally got to place the order) of two combo platter ! Food was of course delicious as usual.

There are many halal guys carts and restaurants. For some reason, this particular location just tastes better! It's a must stop for us every time we visit New York City. We ate it twice on this trip! Extra hot sauces is a must!!! Love their fries too!

Been on my list of places to try and best decision EVER! It was so delicious and tasty! We got the chicken and the gyro, the gyro was a little bit salty but overall really good. It comes with rice (the way they make their rice was really good and a hint of sweet), lettuce, vegetables and the sauces. They pack the food in there and the amount is great to share with 2 or more people. The price is not expensive at all. The service is great. They guys are really nice. They do get busy but the line does go by fast so you are never really waiting long. But it definitely worth the wait. It is a good truck and it's in New York so the ambiance is beautiful since you are eating outside and looking at the beautiful buildings.

There is a reason why this place is as popular as it is. This was the first food stop I went to in NYC and I am so glad I did because this was perfect. The experience of waiting in line for a food truck in the middle of a concrete jungle is just so New York. It's a great feeling and vibe to just be part of the city's ecosystem. As for the food itself, I got the chicken gyro with one line of hot sauce and wow. This was amazing. The meat was cooked perfectly with a great seasoning and they just load it in the pita with a whole lot of sauce and toppings. Actually such a good gyro and definitely worth the wait in the line.

This was our first stop in New York since we got in so late and needed something hot and filling! Make sure you go to the right places there are a lot of carts that'll say "Halal" on it to trip you up. This was a simple, affordable and delicious meal. We got the chicken over rice and it was LOADED. The sauce that comes with it is incredible, be sure to get it. It is cash only so be sure you've got some cash on you before heading over. The line moved quickly and service was super quick as our food was ready within a couple minutes.

This cart in Theater District is the original Halal Guys and a cool visit in NYC if you are a big fan of halal food! While busy, the wait isn't too long. Huge portions and love their combo plate.

I really wanted my first Halal Guys experience to be from a cart vs a brick and mortar. So I'm glad that I happened to be seeing a show at a theatre just around the corner from this location. As many reviews mentioned, there will always be a line. When we went it was an off time on a weekday so it wasn't too long, but I had still had the foresight to order ahead via their website. Just as I was getting there, I could see one of the employees moving an order to their 2nd cart which is there for mobile pickups. I walked right up, gave them my name, and sure enough, that bag was mine and I was on my way. It couldn't have been easier. The food itself was perfect. Everything tasted fresh. The meat was hot, the veggies were cold and crispy, and the sauces were, well, amazing. The whole meal filled me up without having me feel stuffed. I really appreciated that because I feel like other places will give you the same amount of food but it will be so heavy that you just feel awful after eating it all. So, if you are in the theatre district and want a fresh, flavorful, and filling meal, Halal Guys is a great option.

Went late at night (we were actually trying to get Adele's but line was too long lol). I think since they've expanded the quality has been commercialized slightly- it's still very good but I've since seen other halal carts do waaaaay better. I think this is a great baseline comparison halal cart though. I don't know if I'd come back considering all their other better options available

THE famous Halal Guys. I've tried it when they franchised to the West Coast. Here was my experience at the actual spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: Not really. Street parking or parking at the Hilton/Sheraton. Seating: Nothing designated but there are benches a few steps away. Vibes: Welcome to Midtown NY! Plenty of iconic spots and places, one being Halal Guys! The spot itself is pretty busy close to Times Square and many Broadway shows. It's nothing too flashy, there are actually a few other Halal Guys carts but you can tell this is the original based on the longer line or being across the Hilton. Great place for a grab and go. FOOD: Combo - Beef/Chicken/Gyro Platter (Recommend) Why not? The best of all worlds! Chicken, beef, and gyro well cooked and flavored, complemented with rice, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and their signatures sauces. They've grown their flavors but I love the classic cool white sauce, refreshing green sauce, and fiery (really) hot sauce (packaged separately). CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Despite the long line they were pretty professional and composed. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Good price, good selections, and a pleasant experience. This hits! I'm impressed how they still kept it affordable. It's a great bang for your buck too! Glad they franchised but if you happen to find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth a try. #RepresentASIAN TIPS: * You'll actually probably see a few other Halal Guys - the original original one is on 53 & 6 right across from Hilton near a fountain. It actually has a long line but the others are just as great!

Yup, came back almost a year later and I still like this better compared to Adels. Affordable and simple at $12 cash for a Regular. Split it w my SO and it was a perfect amt. SO says meats slightly dry but it didn't bother me. Added a separate white sauce and it was still great. The veggie/rice ratio is perf

This is the OG and the food is still very good. Got a combo sandwich for $10 cash. Waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. Operations were slow at 5pm. There were only 10-15 ppl in front of me and they took their sweet ass time

    Alisa J.

The falafel bowl was overall ok. The red sauce was super spicy and was not a fan of the white sauce. Falafel was crispy but not the best. I prefer moshes falafel.

Ask the Community - The Halal Guys

Do they have a place to sit down?

    Not at a food truck

Do you have to request for the hot sauce, I didn't get it in my bag?

They gave it to me automatically along with the halal sauce. I would think they give it to everyone by default. Maybe they forgot. Hopefully they're not judging thinking, "this person can't handle spice" based on looks.

    Do you accept debit/credit cards?

Yes, we do accept debit/credit cards. The Halal Guys

Does the beef ha e lamb?

Hi Jose, the beef is 100% beef!

Are the times on Yelp accurate?

Yes. I do believe. You can call for more details I guess.

How much do they charge for a combo nowadays?

    $7 small $9 large

Are they still open these days? Till late night?

We just ordered through Uber Eats at 10pm. Seems like they are still serving late.

Is the carts still open during this period?

Yes, October 2021 they were open.

Is this white sauce and red sauce spicy?

The white sauce is not spicy, it is what makes this dish extra good. The red sauce is super spicy, use accordingly

Can anyone tell me why there safe like three different carts of the halal guys on opposite sides of the street? Is there one that's actually the real one? Confused.

Yes , you got 3 carts , you have the main cart, then the other 2nd cart is to reduce the line on the main cart , same price, the 3rd cart is to prep and pre cook the food for the other two carts.… Read more

Is this better than Mahmoud's Corner in Astoria on 34th & Steinway. There's is the best I've found. White sauce, hot sauce, meat..all amazing. Wondering if i should try this place?

Definitely try it! Even if you don't find it to be AS good, it's still a great price!!! Can't lose! But it is SOOOO delicious! If anything you will just have one more place to stop by for halal!

What time does the cart open? Hours of operation?

They open at 4:00 a.m. and I think close at 7:00 but am not positive on close.

Do they still have lamb? I can only see beef

They only serve beef now, no explanation why either, the cart on the same street next to the benches sells lamb and it is just as good

Excellent food, great service, generous portions, and a memorable dining experience. I will definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family. Five stars all the way!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

I was impressed by the chunks of pastrami throughout. Very hearty and very delicious! My husband indulged in the Nova Benedict. They packed on the lox. He didn't even finish but found it amazingly delicious. Service was okay. Nothing too spectacular. I almost felt an inconvenience to the server but we didn't have a fussy order nor was it busy (we ordered before the rush). Maybe she was preparing for the rush. Lol either way, it wouldn't stop me from returning.
