Came here after dinner nearby and what a gem of a spot. The decor and ambiance gives you that old…read moreworld charm with dim lighting and folks enjoying conversations. Forewarning, if you are someone who doesn't like cigar smoke, this won't be the spot for you. There are some nice lounge type seating in the back to relax with a cocktail while smoking your cigar of choice. While I'm not one to partake in cigars all that often, I can appreciate them on a special occasion. I can't speak to that experience here as I came strictly for cocktails and to enjoy the outdoor patio as the weather was fantastic. I'll also say that with how busy it was, it was a bit loud inside, but nothing out of the ordinary of a busy crowd. Let's jump in. Service - 5* Immediately upon entering and approaching the bar, I was greeted with a friendly acknowledgement and asked what I was looking for. I had an idea but was curious to see their menu. After placing an order, the drinks came out quite quick as they have a good balance of bartenders, I believe three were behind the counter so running drinks to tables and getting them seemed to flow well. Overall, the bartenders are attentive and the wait time for a drink isn't terrible at all. Cocktails - 4* The cocktails themselves are very typical classics. Their spirit selection is robust and definitely worth a look if you're seeking a clean, straight spirit to sip. All solid choices and there's a range for what taste profile you're wanting to have. As for execution and delivery, I didn't find the cocktails to be amazing by any means, but for the pricing, we were quite happy. Pricing - 5* I think with where prices have trended this place is keeping it consumer friendly and delivering. Overall - 4.5* I'd come back, I found the cocktails selection, spirit options, ambiance and patio seating options, and service to all land. If you're ever in the downtown Bryan area, I highly recommend stopping by here!

But more importantly they serve excellent cocktails! They have over 100 different cocktails and from what I could judge from the couple that I had, they must all be excellent. I started out with a caipirinha which just how I like it - not too sweet. My next drink was a pisco sour. It too was excellent and both were super-refreshing! But the kicker for me was that they have cigar smoking section. Since it's not a cigar lounge, they have a tiny cabinet humidor, but their policy is that as long as you drink you can smoke your own cigars. I came prepared with my own cigars and that made the experience that much more enjoyable. Next time I'm in town, this will definitely be a stop! Finally, they have a sister lounge that is a speakeasy that doesn't even have a name. We went to the speakeasy after dinner and the drinks there were also excellent. If you go to West End, ask them about the speakeasy!

Staff seemed friendly and trying their best. But given what this place was, the atmosphere just seems really depressing, outdated, and tired and sad. Ah well. Another downtown Bryan legend, gone.

We decided to give the place another chance after how rude staff was to us but that was a huge mistake. During the drag show the performers were touching all over patrons who clearly did NOT consent to the sexual attention, some even left after being touched by them. My partner, who is autistic, went to give a performer a tip and she shoved their face into her chest. I had to calm them down, hoping it was a one off, but then the same person did it to them again the next time they were performing. It only stopped because they stood behind me for the rest of the show. We also watched as a partner in another couple got publicly ridiculed for not being okay with the physical attention. Her partner got groped in front of the whole crowd and the performer pulled her out to the center to argue about it. This place is disgusting and we will never be back.

Bathroom tile desperately needed a good scrub. The black grout hides the fact that it's covered in mold when you touch it. Whole bathroom needed a serious deep clean. Sheets had holes in them. Crazy to me that housekeeping had to see that and just went on! Coffee maker not working. Waters not restocked in room. A few housekeeping tweeks and this could be awesome.

We checked in for our retreat in the hotel lobby. The hotel is located in an area with lots of retail shops and restaurants. The parking was not ideal and most of the garage spots were filled. The hotel pool is out in the center of a communal area with all the restaurants so not a lot of privacy there. The hotel did an amazing job at hosting our retreat. We used the Statesman room that had many tables and chairs to accommodate our group of 100+. We had breakfast in this area as well as our Roaring 20s evening where I had the best prime rib spread that I had ever experienced. The prime rib was prepared to perfection and served buffet style with au jus and horseradish sauce. There were also fresh veggies served including carrots, green beans and broccoli and they were prepared Al dente style just how I like them. There was a potato bar where you could build your own loaded mashed potatoes. We received 2 drink tickets where we could choose from a variety of beverages including beer, wine or cocktails. I had two pineapple margaritas. There were also many flavors of cupcakes served for dessert. The best part of the hotel were these ceramic sheep decorations that the Beef Team enjoyed posing with and moving them to various locations around the hotel for photo purposes. It made for a good source of entertainment. Overall thought the George Hotel did an excellent job at hosting our Beef Team retreat.

Escargot Stuffed Mushrooms- a bit tiny, but packed with buttery goodness. Entrees: A5 Wagyu Flat Iron- this was a special and it wasn't tender enough to cut with just a fork like I've experienced, but still pretty tender and very juicy. Seasoned perfect to eat by itself, but it came with 4 different restaurant-made steak sauces. Mesquite Smoked Short Ribs- very tender and can be torn to shreds with a fork. Comes with mash potatoes and gravy and some crispy noodles for texture. Very flavorful. Sides: Maple Bacon Pecan Brussel Sprouts- very delicious and flavorful. Smoked Mashed Potatoes- very thick and smokey, but delicious. Definitely need some water lol. Poblano Creamed Corn- my wife liked this, but I didn't care for that creamy corn texture lol. Dessert: Marie Antoinette Cake- chocolate mousse cake that was perfectly rich with some kind of raspberry or berry drizzle. Also came with these super delicious alcoholic infused strawberries that paired super well. Overall, it was a pricey dinner, but not as pricey as I thought. Definitely had a great time and worth the price and experience. The restaurant ambience was dim and cabin-like setting with lots of beautiful decor. Our waiter, Gabriel was super friendly and helpful. He recommended a lot of our dishes tonight. Lots of parking and they also offer complimentary valet services.
