The manager is a jerk. I updated my stay on booking. Apparently you cant do that. He screamed at me, cut me off and put his hand in my face. I've stayed there before as we are buying a house in CO and let me tell you, this place is a joke. The old manager was so nice and cool. Very polite and sweet. The guy that's taken his place is a joke. He blamed me for booking.com not calling him and letting him know that my dates had changed. I told him we had a family emergency and HAD to change the dates. He refused to even look at where I had confirmation of the change and that they had charged me ‍ Just spend the extra cash and stay at the IHG where they treat you like a human being. read more

Reasonably priced and safe, the MidTown Motel was just right. special thank you to at the front desk who was so gracious and reassuring to this weary traveler. Having taught music and performed across the country for living a know the importance of a goodnight's sleep. While reasonably priced and simple, I enjoyed the fresh coffee and Mahalo nui loa to Tracy at the front desk for your kind hospitality. I recommend this hotel: safe, clean, affordable and a good night's sleep while on the road. read more

This woman Tracey that runs the place is rude. She yells at her guests. She kicks people off the property that are visiting her guests. She treats her employees like crap. I wouldn't recommend this place to my family or friends coming to visit until they get new management. The only thing I can say nice about this place is that the other staff members where friendly. If by any means you have to stay there, deal with Jim. Avoid Tracey at all cost. read more

Yes, a very nice place, older and a bit cramped for my party of three guys on a photo Safari from Kansas to Vancouver, BC. But the price was reasonable, $85 for the night. Stayed here for two weeks. This is an older motel that is centrally located in La Junta. Although the room was small, it was clean and Tom, the manager, will do everything he can to make you feel welcome and make your stay enjoyable. Definitely brought the rating up a star as customer service is very important, and it's the little things that make a difference on a long term stay. The price was also very reasonable. read more

Previous favorable reviews are still dead on - this is a cheap and cheerful place to stay. The staff is very accommodating, my room was clean and comfortable. The wi-fi actually worked (unlike many places that advertise it). I liked the town - people in general are pretty friendly around here. I stayed for two days - would have stayed longer, but I've other places to be. La Junta is a quick stop for most travelers, but the surrounding region has lots of amazing terrain and tons of history, if you have the time to explore. read more

This is a place to stay and that is it! It is clean but old as hell and not very modern! My family and I lived here a couple weeks back in '98 because we moved to this town but they recently had a flood so there was no place to rent or even buy! Tonight I stayed because a website said it was $39 bucks! Of course, I was charged $60 plus tax! I pulled in in the afternoon and there was a note to call a number as there was no one in the office. He was picking his kids up from school. I don't have a problem with that but don't advertise $39 and charge me $60 bucks! I was jerked awake by the local county jail right below my window at around 5:30 am so it was a short night of sleep! Good enough to s**t, shower, and shave, but not much else! read more

No parking, had to park on the street at 11pm. Room smells like smoke, people out in the parking lot all night talking and smoking. It's just one of those kinds of places. Bed was squeaky and rough but we brought our home pillows which helped a lot. I literally got the last room in the entire town last night so I'm grateful to have slept here. Staff was very friendly. Lots of hot water. Shower head good for someone who is 5'2 or shorter. read more

After Nick checked me in, he spent time telling me about all the attractions that I should see while in La Junta. Then told me where the watering holes were where I could relax and have a beer. It just happened that the motel is walking distance smack dab between an awesome taqueria and my kind (not uppity) of bar. It doesn't get any better than that. read more

Wonderful place to stay! What it isn't : it isn't a world class luxury hotel. It isn't ultra sleek and ultra modern. It isn't the best and brightest of anything. What it is : very clean, both the grounds and the room. It is run by people who are genuinely concerned with your comfort. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are large with comfortable furniture, microwave and fridge and in room coffee and Direct TV . Plenty of hot water for a good relaxing shower rounds it out. All in all, a wonderful nights rest. Would I come back? I would drive out of my way to stay here! read more

For less than half the cost of one of the hotel chains down the street, my room was clean, quiet and in working order. The bathroom was so clean and white that I had difficulty telling the tub from the wall. Some dirt on the rim of the tiled wall where it met the regular wall, but it's easy for me to see because I'm tall. The room was small, but big enough for two and offering the opportunity for numerous amorous encounters. Ouside walkway, so the curtains must be drawn to have any privacy. TV worked, buut remote didn't have a keypad to go directly to s station. It wasn't a great imposition, just unusual in comparison to most places I've stayed. Bed was fine, it wasn't a an expensive pillow-top with a form fitting mattress, but I felt that I did get a good nights sleep. There is some traffic noise, but not much when I was there and what was really lacking was the sound of trains throughout the night. The other hotels in town are next to the railroad tracks and the main road west out of town. Freights run all night long and they signal with their loud horns when they arrive at and leave the station; I didn't hear any of that at the Mid-town. The area around the hotel might look a little sketchy, but no more so than a lot of isolated small towns and the owners sleep on the premises. I don't know if I would park a brand new BMW there, but my late model Honda Odyssey seemed perfectly safe. Mid-town isn't the most comfortable place I've stayed, it doesn't have all of the amenities, jacuzzi, exercise room, pool and a lavish breakfast. What it does have is and incredably low price, under $50 when I stayed. I don't use most of the amenities at the more expensive hotels anyway, so the price felt like a great value for a better than average nights rest. I did read reviews before I picked Mid-town and a couple were offputting, especially one where the guest said he lost his money because he didn't cancel in time. I asked the owner about that and he explained to me something that I never knew. The guest had booked through one of the online hotel booking services, not the Mid-town's Web site. When a booking is done through the service, the owner receives a fax confirmation and a few days later a bill. If a guest who has booked through a service wants their money back, then they must cancel through the service so that another fax is sent to the hotel confirming that the hotel won't be charged. I'd stay at the Mid-town again, especially if I was on a budget. read more

Neat, clean, comfortable and affordable! Bigger than normal refrigerator and Direct TV. Free unsecured wi-fi worked great. Two nice recliners and plenty of cool from the window A/C! Staff was very friendly and helpful; free paper every day in the office too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Don't miss the Kiva (we were lucky to be there same day as a show) and Bent's Old Fort! Pharmacy down two blocks on 3rd St very nice and fully stocked. read more

Clean, easy access to highway and downtown. Staff was very accommodating when I had a noisy neighbor...they gave me another, quieter room! I'll stay there again when I'm traveling through the area. My dog was welcome, too. read more

There aren't too many options for lodging in this part of CO, but you might want to avoid this one. On the upside, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms were clean. But the furniture, bedding, and fixtures are old and dingy. The room smelled odd. There's no overhead light, so the rooms are dark. Our smoke detector was unplugged, one of our rooms (our party had a few rooms) lacked soap (a problem that was easily resolved, but still...), in another room, the refrigerator was not working and smelled of something rotten. None of the clocks were plugged in (again, it's easy enough to plug them in and set the time -- but why?). And finally, someone (a hotel employee?) knocked on our door around 8 a.m. to see if we were checking out that day. This was intrusive, as we were just getting up (check-out time is not till 11), and she could have gotten that information elsewhere (or just called the room). It was fine for a night, but given the choice in the future, I'd stay elsewhere. read more

We stayed here a week ago and the heat did not work, and the toilet ran after flushing because the flapper was stuck. The manager blamed me for the heat not working citing that I had knocked the heater head off. Yeah, that's what I wanted to do, spend the night in a crappy motel with no heat so I broke the heater. I really secretly want to freeze...it's what I do for fun! The management doesn't check the rooms before renting them to make sure the most basic necessities are working. That's their job, not mine. Also, we checked in at 11:00 pm very tired. The last thing we wanted to do was to wait up for them to come fix something that should have worked before we got there. The manager claims I was rude at checkout, which I was not, rather, I merely reported the problems so the next poor folks who fell victim to phony Internet ratings would have a working toilet and have heat! I did Tom Anderson, the manager a favor and he called me rude! I should have demanded a refund or at the very least, he should have offered one! I'm now going to go out to the Internet to explain how it was all the paying guests fault that the heat didn't work, and the toilet would have run all night if I didn't stop it. The Midtown motels ratings are a complete lie and people traveling to La Junta should be aware that they have generated these reviews themselves. Don't stay here folks. There's a Hampton and a newer Holiday Inn in La Junta who serve breakfast too! They get 4 stars too and they make the Midtown Motel look like a dirty cardboard box. How can they possibly be rated the same as the Midtown? You decide! read more
