This place made me decide to never rent from a personal rental company ever again…read more I believe this rental was once nice but it is in desperate need of some TLC. To start, it was dirty. The renter confirmed that they do the cleaning themselves and it's evident. Pillow cases had stains on them, fridge and freezer had crumbs and hair in them. There should be a professional cleaner going in and sanitizing after every guest. Several things were broken (and honestly, dangerous). The door locks are also not in good shape. There is no deadbolt on the front or back door. The front door lock was literally being held together by BAND AIDS! Yes BANDAIDS. Ironically enough they had a sign next to the front door warning about bears in the area LOL. The patio fairy lights were not working. There's a floodlight that is on a minute timer so we kept having to move around if we wanted any lighting in the front porch or in the backyard where the hot tub is. If you get into the hot tub after dark, good luck, bring your own lights unless you want complete darkness. We specifically rented this cabin for the hot tub but it did not work. We followed the instructions posted. The "heating" light was on. We waited 45 minutes and the temperature didn't move a single degree. When we raised these concerns to Sandy and Bob, they were sarcastic and rude. Even after seeing the pictures with the proof. They claimed that all of our issues were because the home was "historic". Historic does NOT mean dirty and broken and unsafe. Imagine going to a historic museum and seeing things held together with band aids?! So just know that if you book and have any issues, they will not give a care in the world!

Their properties are always sparkling clean and stocked with everything you need. They're knowledgeable and will help you in any way. We first stayed at one of their properties in Cascade in 1999. From the moment we met them, we were endeared to them and as these 20 years have rolled by, they remain some of our best friends. You will not regret making Cascade Escapes your vacation destination!

Our Airbnb in New York had the power go out in the middle of the night and our hosts were way into the city at a show and couldn't get back to fix it for us. And their elderly mother started wandering around shouting for them, which was a bit uncomfortable. On the other hand, the AirBNB we rented in Portugal was gorgeous and had the Duoro River outside our window. And our most recent Airbnb was a gorgeous unit in Copenhagen near a lot of attractions and in a nice neighborhood. So there is good and bad in any of the properties/hosts. My only other big reason for choosing hotels over most Airbnbs is that you don't have a chore list to complete when checking out of a hotel. And it used to be that Airbnb was a cost effective alternative to hotels, but now they're right on par in cost (or even more!) So I think in the future, I would only book an Airbnb if I was traveling with a large group that needed separate rooms, or if there were no available hotels in the area.

I have an apartment attached to my home and I made it where they guest must first contact me to see if available and the site switched it to auto book. I had two bookings right away where I had to cancel. One was very upset and wrote a nasty review and she never stayed in my unit. I was pleasant and explained it, I contacted airbnb to remove and they would not. Although this was at the fault of airbnb. I stayed in an apartment with mold issues and I was not the only one to report it. Then my car was illegally towed, with the permit for parking on the dash. I'm out over $600 for my car that I had to go pick up, plus all the uber transports since it was done on a Saturday night and I couldn't pick it up until Monday. Airbnb has not been any help, all that I asked for was the HOA's phone number and I will handle it and they couldn't do that. This is one of the worst companies and there needs to be better alternatives! This is only 2 of the many issues I've had with this company. Truly very poorly managed and all that they care about is making lots of $$ at the expense of everyone.
