It was so nice to explore on a sunny spring afternoon. This has to be a bird lovers paradise. The Scissortail is the state bird of Oklahoma. It is known for its distinctive black and white tail that seems to open and close like a pair of scissors during flight. Just the tail can grow up to 10 inches. Although I did not see any Scissortails, there were plenty of other birds to spot. Red-winged blackbirds. House finches. Great tailed grackles. Green herons. Great white egrets. And the cutest family of Canada geese with their little gosling babies. Adorable! Don't miss the Skydance Bridge. Also known as the Scissortail Bridge, it is inspired by the courtship dance of the Scissortail birds. The pedestrian bridge crosses over I-40 linking the two sides of the park. I first started coming here when my Great Dane, Minnie, was just a puppy. This was to help her socialize. Ever since then, it's felt like a second home. We even met the pup, Flynn(previously Tuna)that we ended up adopting here from the amazing Lindi. The atmosphere feels like home. There are so many things to do for both dogs and humans! While the dogs play, we usually grab some food and they are always introducing new items to the menu, so we always have new things to try whenever we visit. And I will say that I have never been disappointed with anything that we've ordered. The drinks are amazing too! Clever names, great prices, and delicious! They always have super fun events going on too! From weekly bingo and singo to pop up markets, events, Holiday parties, and even doggy prom! It was very nice walking the path in the morning. There were a couple other people up early as well. The path was fairly clean, although we did pass an area where someone threw at least 4 used diapers on the ground instead of walking 40 feet to the trash can. There is not any shade at this walking/ biking path, so bring some sunblock, wear sunglasses, and wear a hat. There are lots of birds and animals to see. We saw some sort of mongoose looking animal that was super cute to watch. He has brown fur and was long and skinny. He was jumping from rock to rock at the lighthouse area. The locals that come always seem to be nice and pleasant to chat with. In 5 years I have only witnessed a handful of times owners that have been irresponsible or disrespectful to the rules. Best time to come for socialization is weekend in the morning. All other times there are none to a few people at the park. Highly recommend this venue for engagement or a good sniffing time! :)

I found some empty bottles in the trash and climbed down the creek to fill them up with water. If you are going to keep this park open for dogs keep the water on. It has not been anywhere close to freezing in the last week so there is no excuse. Besides my need for a hike they enjoyed the agility course. This is the closest park to my house and I'm very upset about my visit.

Teddy is a bit of an old man who had been kept inside with a little sickly old woman most of his life so he doesn't really know how to "dog" so to speak and won't run around chasing or playing with the other doggos much. He does like to sniff and is pretty happy to be in a place where he can be off his leash for a while since I live in a condo with no yard to speak of. The handful of times we have come, there haven't been many small dogs and I'm almost tempted to take him in the side meant for large dogs as a lot of them seem friendly enough.
