Verbally abusive. Attended what I thought would be a routine screening, but the situation quickly turned into a vocal blitz to get my original pair of contact lens. My cost inquiry was met with disapproval and shame mongering from office crew. My great grandmother, who had driven me to appointment, was accosted when advocated on my behalf. After waiting outside the main door and ridiculed by all at the office, finally retrieved my original contact lens and left without having my prescription refilled. I am a local, and my family will not return to this harshly unpleasant environment. read more

Dr. Fellers and his staff were friendly and I came away with the perfect prescription. I have worn glasses since I was four years old (I have a lazy eye and am farsighted). My vision has changed over the years and I have reached a point where I need to wear my glasses full time; I also need progressive lenses to help with both reading and distance. My vision had changed slightly the last time I had an eye exam in 2019, but not enough for me to buy new glasses, and I skipped a vision exam in 2020 (covid caution). I knew I needed a new prescription, but I didn't realize the extent to which an outdated prescription was affecting me. Dr. Fellers tested my vision and wrote a prescription that is perfect. My vision is crisper and I haven't been getting headaches after screen time. So, two lessons learned: don't delay and trust Dr. Fellers to get it right! I also experience dry eyes and use a variety of OTC products to relieve dryness and side effects of dryness. Dr. Fellers was very sensitive to the quality-of-life impact of dry eyes and their effects. He said to talk to him if the OTC products I am using stop working as well, because there are other things I could try. I appreciated that he made sure I wasn't using anything in my eyes that would do harm and that he was willing to work with me if the problem grows worse. I bought a pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses from Midtown Optometry. Rose and her staff are very gracious and helpful. They do not have space for a large display of frames that you can try on your own; they pull frames that you might like out of drawers and show them to you. Rose didn't have many frames in the style I wanted, so she spent an hour looking at frames online with me and ordered several for me to try, with no obligation. Even though the service couldn't be better, I do wish there was more opportunity to independently look at and try on frames. Even though there was no obligation, I pressured myself to choose a frame because Rose had put in so much time. I don't love what I chose. In the future, I might start frame shopping elsewhere before an appointment at Midtown, note the brand and model number of frames I liked, then see if Rose can get those frames. Overall, my experience at Midtown Optometry was highly positive and I am happy to return in the future. read more

Place is very stylish and clean and 'cool', but they had me sit down right when I walked in then nobody checked on me for 15-20 mins. I had an appt and was early for it but ended up not being seen until after the time. Pretty unfriendly staff. Walked right by and never inquired about my appt. People who walked in after me were checked in first for some reason and I ended having to get up and ask what was going on before anyone finally got the process started. So there's fancy wood panel stuff and techno remixes of famous songs playing, but so what. You still end up waiting and waiting and having to do the work yourself of checking in and they take foreverrrr. It got to the point where the doc forgot about me and the nurse came into the room again with a new patient and was like 'what are you still doing here didn't the doc see you?' then went and got her a 2nd time since she forgot to come in the first time (I heard it all happen outside the door since it was open) If my insurance wasn't helping with the prices - which are EXTREMELY high btw - I'd have just stood up and left after being ignored for 20 mins and then forgot about later again. Also it took 3 weeks to get my new glasses in when other places are 1 or maybe 2 at most in my other experiences. So they're hip and trendy but also seem to drop the ball a lot and take their time getting anything done. I just had the very best experience of any optometrist I have ever worked with at Midtown Optometry. I'm not one to write reviews but everything was so exceptional there that I had to in this case. Let me start with the reason I went, my deteriorating eyesight. I'm 72 so I need to really take care of my eyes! I received the most thorough eye exam that I have ever had from Dr. Fellers. He put me through a number of tests using various pieces of equipment and gave me the most in-depth, detailed, and useful analysis of my eyesight. He found some things that no other optometrist had ever seen before. In addition to the top notch medical care, Dr. Fellers is incredibly personable. He gets his own 5-star rating for "bedside" manner. What a great guy and so easy to deal with, explained everything so clearly and answered all my questions so well. It doesn't get better. And, I LOVE my new glasses. They have literally changed the quality of my life. I went back the other day and ordered some prescription sunglasses from them too. And his staff, from the receptionist to the person who fit me for new glasses, was the same! Professional, warm and friendly, so easy to deal with. The whole process there made me wish that all doctors offices were like this one, so much so that I have sent my friends there and will continue to do so. Excellent medical checkup on eye health - an unhurried yet efficient process they explained as it happened (no mysteries about what was going on, nor any long waits). Everyone was nice and helpful, and the office is physically quite comfortable. I had plenty of time to ask questions and make sure I understood the results of the retinal exam and such; including Dr Fellers carefully explaining how a flaw in my retina would affect how much glasses could help one of my eyes, and going over which diet, vitamins, or lifestyle items might affect my vision going forward. And, sitting with the optician while waiting for dilation to happen got me an unpressured explanation of the best materials for lenses for me. (Also some good advice on where to go for a nice walk!) I'm not quite convinced eyeglasses are worthwhile, but now I have all the facts I need to do my next bit of research. Their COVID discipline seems really good - everyone was masked, they checked symptoms and temps in the parking lot, made sure I washed my hands. Their examination pricing is very fair (IMO) and they were clear about which things would, or wouldn't, be covered by my insurance. My only quibble is that the exam/prescription doesn't include measurement of pupillary distance. read more

I got a medical exam with fundal photography, and Dr Fellers was 5-star. But, they structured the exam into two parts with a wait-for-the-doctor phase where they try to sell you glasses (which I didn't want). Later, I had to specifically email and request my prescription (they didn't give it to me by default). But, these things would only be a half-star deduction ... the problem is that I gave them my insurance info, they told me the cost (including the extra $80 for the photography) and I agree and paid it. About 8 months later they billed me another $170 (making my new-patient eye exam a total of about $300!) This strikes me as expensive, and (more importantly) as really poor billing practice. UPDATE: Midtown contacted me - very pleasant and very professional. They adjusted my bill in recognition of the miscommunication (and are re-generating the paperwork so my own records are easy to follow). Responsive office - up one star! read more

OMG! What a great experience! My initial phone inquiry and the appointment experience with the entire staff was awesome. The most helpful and friendly staff I've ever encountered! I was treated politely when making my appointment, while waiting in my car to be escorted into the office (covid safety), during the preliminary eye exams, and during the frame selection process. After 25+ years with my previous Dr I decided it was time to move-on due to the very rude, unprofessional staff in his office. They provided me sparking water and While I waited I sat with a perfect view of their elaborate and beautiful outside fountain area. I sat and ordered my custom Ray-ban Sunglasses Tailored to my needs with recommendations from Gita whom I highly recommend. At the end of my meeting with Gita she gave me a welcome Tea Mug which of my experience wasn't already great this was definitely the cherry on top. Entire staff professional, super sweet, and the experience was superb! They still buzz you in which I am glad they are still doing because it made the entire experience quiet, peaceful and non crowded. The exam went well, and the optometrist was exceptionally great, patient, and explained the images of my eyes. The environment was clean and filled with the most beautiful plants along with a gorgeous water fall feature on their patio. It was like being in a tropical oasis.
