Yup, I have to echo the sentiments of Elle J…read more Update I confirmed with my husband that on that Friday night when we were here for hours and even when he retrieved Bella's body the following morning he never once was offered the chance to nor spoke with a vet. No one wants to be in a situation where they need an emergency vet because a. it's an emergency, b. it's stressful and c. in many instances, you are facing grim decisions without the luxury of time. In Nov. 2018, on a Friday evening, our sweet terrier mix pup was attacked by a coyote in our front yard in Athens. Ya'll this happened within 20 seconds of putting her out to "do her business." I wrapped her in a towel and tried to hold her up while she was writhing in pain, the hubs got the car going, and I tried to contain her bleeding as we drove to the Decatur emergency vet, only to find out it was closed [?!?!?!] so, we drove to this emergency vet. I'm absolutely soaked in blood when we arrived and I don't recall them taking too awfully long to get sweet Bella out of the waiting room we were in, thank goodness. And that's where the goodness ended. No one offered any towels, soap or anything to help me clean up my clothes. Bella suffered "old dog syndrome" - if you don't know about it that's a good thing because you haven't dealt with it. Dependent on the severity of the disease all the dog does all day [while awake] is walk in circles, in our case counterclockwise. There is no treatment for this disease in counterclockwise circles, at least. My husband did a great job getting Bella fed, which meant hand feeding her, pushing food into her mouth while she made her circles. This is important background because clearly we had a ravaged-by-the-coyote [broken ribs and punctured lungs and I don't recall the other bodily injuries] ON TOP OF this pup suffering a nearly debilitating disease. As others noted, you are stuck with the vet tech du jour for what seems like eternity, who is a liaison between the real vets and you and your wallet options. I kept repeating to the young vet tech that Bella's quality of life while being wrapped in tight bandages for her broken rips is contrary to her old dog's disease and asked the tech how they planned to feed Bella, assuming it would be IV. She couldn't give me an answer. We were here for hours getting updated cost estimates as new issues were discovered. Had we gotten 15 minutes of the veterinarian's time to explain Bella's disease and to calmly discuss the realities of the main issue in this grim situation which is the animal's resultant quality of life under each possible treatment/surgical option, we would have made the ultimate decision much more quickly. I think you all know what we decided the next morning. I don't recall how much we spent there for Bella's x-rays, pain meds, etc., but it was a lot. That's to be expected. The treatment options were appreciated but completely impractical in an older pup who is already diseased. The facility itself was clean and newish and maybe even brand new. Despite the nice appearance, do not expect to actually talk to an actual Vet in a reasonable amount of time, and do not expect quality of the animals' lives to be rationally addressed, rather do expect to see numerous instances of increasing cost estimates in writing, to which you agree to in writing, and then pay at that time, or I guess, decline the treatment. We've had much better emergency care at Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital in Decatur Alabama, but it doesn't look like they are open 24 hours anymore.

Very respectful and very professional!!

I'm surprised this vet clinic doesn't have a million reviews, but I guess they're new…read more TLDR: they're perfectly good at what they do, the vet is caring, and the staff is friendly. I have a fussy, reactive dog that truly doesn't like vets that she doesn't know. She's still peeing allllll over the place when she goes here, but she seems to like it--and I can see why. Pros: the staff is delightful, the vet seems to care about animals (yes, I've seen vets who don't), they can usually work you in. Cons: I wasn't a fan of them calling in meds--and trying to charge me for them--that I didn't ask for and that my dog didn't need. I am EXTREMELY conscious of my baby, and I never hesitate to pay whatever necessary for what she needs, but why did I nearly get charged for diarrhea medicine when she's never had that complaint with them? Also, parking is a bit of a chore. Overall, I think this is a reasonably priced vet with caring staff. I'd recommend--but watch what they charge you in case you also get hit by the "we see there is a fee for a medicine you didn't ask for" thing.

I ordered them on subscription from the vet. Several times, they CANCELLED my subscription with no explanation. When I called the clinic this last time, they claimed there was a problem with my credit card. When I went back into the website, I found NOTHING wrong w/ the card and they'd changed it to "Paused" due to lack of supplies. (How is it they can't anticipate how much subscribers are going to need?) Because this happened several times (and they proved to be undependable), I looked elsewhere and found the treats at Chewys, ordered there, and canceled the treats from the vet clinic. Then, the vet clinic called asking why I canceled. After I explained they are undependable, they never mentioned I would be required to go - in person - to the vet to get the RX so I can take a pic and send it to Chewy before I could get the order filled. Don't go there. They are completely inept and unreasonable and will hassle you versus correcting their staff.

I brought my cat, Darryl, (1 yr old) to this clinic after a major change in his health. I said he'd been having rapid and visible weight loss, extreme lethargy, loss of appetite, inappropriate urination, and a general decline in his appearance. I was told he had an stress-related urinary condition (no bacterial infection) and anxiety. We were given medication for urinary inflammation and anxiety. This was despite my furthered vocalized concern for his health, stating i know he's not an anxious cat and he hadn't eaten in days. 2 1/2 days go by, his condition worsened rapidly. He lost even more weight, became profoundly weak, developed jaundice, and collapsed. We rushed him to emergency care, where we were told he had essentially no red blood cells left and had been critically ill for some time. Despite everything we did - emergency visits, long-distance travel to a specialty hospital with transfusion capability - we were forced into the devastating decision to say goodbye to our baby. Of whom, me and my fiance got when we moved in together. Darryl was the sweetest, smartest cat and our lives will forever be changed without him. He saw our relationship grow and our love for him with it. The specialists told us he had less than 24 hours to live without aggressive treatment, which would have cost close to $9,000 with only a 50/50 chance of survival. We were heartbroken. I am struggling with the fact that clear red flags - rapid weight loss, lethargy, appetite loss, and overall decline -- were present and communicated, yet the situation was not escalated or investigated further. I am not writing this to attack individual staff members. I am writing because I trusted this clinic with my cat's life, and the outcome was catastrophic. I hope this encourages more thorough evaluation and escalation when owners report significant changes with animals who mean the world to them and cannot be replaced. Please find proper care. I wish we had been taken more seriously. it would've saved his life.
