I had to attend a family members funeral today. It turned out to be a beautiful day despite the weather forecast. The cemetery was prepared with a covered canopy for the immediate family with nicely covered chairs. A speaker, and microphone was also available for use. Direction signs were tastefully placed to guide traffic. Streets inside cemetery are very narrow, which makes parking hard.

There's so much wonder and awe packed into those places and regardless of which library I visit, I feel the same feeling. I stopped by this one for an event-a community book club. How appropriate right?! We had a private reserved room for our discussion and could see the bookshelves through the glass wall. It was perfect! This library, as I'm sure many do, had a section for children, teens and adults. That makes it nice for people to browse age-appropriate books and maybe make some friends while they are here.

It was kind of weird to see a sharps containers in the bathroom, but I can understand why they would have that, given a need for it. The White Memorial Chapel in Salt Lake City is an excellent example of Gothic revival style…read morearchitecture and is representative of Utah's early religious architecture. Architect Obed Taylor (who also designed the Assembly Hall at Temple Square) was inspired by Gothic architecture, as demonstrated by the buttresses, tall steeple, Gothic windows, and inclined roof of the Chapel. Originally, this was the Salt Lake City Mormon's 18th Ward Chapel, but the small size slatted it for demolition in the early 1970's. Carefully, the Chapel was disassembled and moved--stone by stone--and reconstructed on the current site opposite the Utah State Capitol. . It is to the credit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that they saved this historic building. The White Memorial Chapel is currently non-denominational and used for civic purposes, meetings and as a crazy popular spot for weddings due to its location and charming architecture. I stopped by to check out the Chapel on my private City Tour of SLC and it is awesome. I would advise brides in the area who are searching for a small church to get married in, to check out the White Memorial Chapel. This is what some have said about the Old Mormon Meetinghouse: "This chapel was just what we were looking for. Historical, small, wood pews, single aisle to pulpit, stained glass windows, etc! Beautiful!" Another noted "it has all the original benches from 1883. One word to describe it: charming. Also, it was nice because we were able to use whoever we wanted to marry us, since it is a community chapel." 5 YELP STARS for having the foresight to preserve this wonderfully historic Chapel and also for a great place to get hitched if you are seeking a small, old-fashioned but utterly charming place to tie the knot.

The DCC, as residents call it, is the community center where many activities are held, along with…read morethe rec center/gym that is available to the people who live in Daybreak. You'll immediately notice that it shares the property with a public elementary school. They use the gym during the day, but the weight room and track upstairs is available to the residents all day. Another thing you'll quickly notice is the lack of parking. They recently changed the entry procedures to allow visitors to enter the back door where the parking lot is. You used to have to walk around the building-which was rather painful in the winter since you have to walk through a muddy field. The facilities inside are adequate. You'll find the basic workout machines, weights, treadmills, etc. It can get busy during peak times or seasons, but people are usually pretty friendly and willing to take turns. There are also group fitness classes-they rotate schedules each quarter and offer the first week free so you can try them out. You can buy a pass or do a drop in class occasionally. Childcare is also available for an additional fee. Watch the LiveDaybreak website or social media to see what activities will be held here. While there are many activities throughout the year, only a handful are held at the community center. But when they are, you'll want to plan accordingly as the gym will likely be closed.

A public library with public Wifi generously stretching a long ways out--gettin' it DONE for me some 20-30 yards away. Super thankful. Tremendously useful for the Xfinity WiFi pilgrim. Originally a paper mill owned by Deseret it had a fire in 1893 and was never fully repaired. Over the years it was partially restored as a rec center along with other things.
