My dog got surgery on April 23 2026 and already has an infection due to the doctor not closing her up correctly. Now I was given a prescription and wanted to charge me a 48$ wellness visit for his mistake. The doctor gave me a prescription and told me to go else where to fill it. Very rude, fowl language and do not care for animals like they say. I was told if I have to do surgery it will be expensive because I used a voucher from Pinellas animal services. After all the taxes we pay if I use a voucher so what help me as a resident from Pinellas. But they used my dog as an experiment and send her home with a cone with a red string not a belt or proper collar for the cone. That string was cutting her neck due to the cone being so heavy on her. Very sad be side my dog is like a lid to me.

Our Bernese Mountain Dog, Bruno, recently had surgery at our regular vet to remove a tumor in his…read moremouth. Thankfully, everything came back benign. As expected, the surgery affected his appetite, but a few days later things took a concerning turn. By Sunday--four days post-surgery--he had completely stopped eating and drinking and became very lethargic. By that evening, he was barely moving. Having lost a dog years ago to kidney failure, I didn't want to take any chances, so I brought him to Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists, where I've had good experiences in the past. From the moment we arrived, the team was excellent. The receptionist was kind and attentive, and after the initial exam, Dr. Ormsby came in and immediately connected with Bruno. As soon as she walked in, he perked up. What stood out most was her approach. Instead of ordering a battery of expensive tests, she said, "Let me make him a charcuterie plate." She hand-fed him baby food and a few other items--and he ate. She discussed a kidney test but didn't feel it was necessary based on his symptoms. Instead, she explained that some of his post-surgery medications could be causing gastrointestinal inflammation and treated him accordingly. We followed her guidance at home, and Bruno is now eating again and getting back to his old self. Too often, veterinary visits feel transactional. This was the opposite. They truly cared, and it showed. I'm very grateful we chose Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists.
