I laid awake in the bed for 5 minutes hoping the need to use the bathroom would pass since I needed to call her in to the room to "unplug" me. Not to mention the uncomfortable wires stuck to me with some sort of white snotty goo that got stuck in my hair. Then, at the end of the night, I got kicked out of the center with not so much as a "have a good day". As for the after, duh I have sleep apnea... like everyone else (how else do they make their money?) When I went back for the results, I was handed a paper to fill out with my credit card information to set up monthly payments BEFORE I even saw the doctor. I've been sleeping just fine for 40 years - I'll take my chances.

Also the reviews about the doctor having a personally of a rock is completely true. I think it's unacceptable, from the time I made my first appointment(April 17th) to the time I actually got my machine was 96 days(July 22nd.). My husband went to a different place out of Northeastern Medicine and from the time he made his first appointment to the time he got his machine was 16 days. If your doctor recommended this place I highly recommend asking for a different referral to save you time and money. I also told my current doctor who is actually newer to the area about the Naperville Center for Sleep Medicine and she will no longer be recommending this place either just from my experience with them.

Instead of targeting the underlying causes, Dr. Patel's initial presentation of services was more…read moreof a canned one-size-fits-all approach. It lacked a patient-centric philosophy to thoroughly understand each patient's specific needs and develop a customized treatment plan. Although it underscored worse-case scenarios, it did not involve a combination of treatments, including lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, physical therapy, orthodontics as well as oral appliances. The total cost for my treatment was greater than $6,000 (upfront) of which medical and dental insurance paid only a small fraction of the total. Since Dr. Patel is not a Medicare approved provider, most insurance plans do not cover his charges. The treatment included diagnostic as well as 5 or 6 doctor visits (over the course of a year) and delivery of two appliances: the first to be worn for 3-4 months 24/7 and the second as a transition to nighttime for stability. This reduced teeth-grinding and relieved pressure on the jaw joint. It worked well for me to wear the appliance only as a nighttime guard, and within a week, I noticed no jaw pain. The limitation of jaw movement gradually improved to the normal range. The nighttime guard (to be worn forever) does work to hold the jaw and associated ligaments in place to prevent further deterioration. When patients are empowered with knowledge, they can be more actively involved in the decision-making process to ensure optimal outcomes. While Dr. Patel's staff is informative, empathetic and personable, I could not say the same for him. There was more emphasis placed on selling (what I considered) to be an overpriced treatment than on actually taking sufficient time with each patient. Dr. Patel did not foster ongoing communication that would have optimized treatment to suit evolving needs. After I had spent an hour driving round trip, I was made to feel like I was an imposition. I was rushed in and out of his office within a couple of minutes. While there, he did not encourage me to provide feedback on my progress or listen to my legitimate concerns or answer any questions. Furthermore, he certainly didn't volunteer much, if any, information on my progress. Because of this negligence, I will be seeking further dental care elsewhere. It is clearly obvious that Dr. Patel places more emphasis on money and receiving glowing recommendations than on improving the quality of life for TMJ patients. For those reasons, I would advise anyone to seek out more personalized care from other healthcare professionals who actually value and respect people over profits.

Reading a previous review regarding the cost of treatment: Dr. Patel is an expert in the treatment of TMJ. His evaluation is very in depth. So in depth in fact, that an x-ray taken during my initial visit discovered plaque build-up in my carotid artery that warranted a visit to a cardiologist. The cost of treatment and insurance coverage was clearly explained to me at the time of my consultation. I chose to move forward with treatment and I am so very glad that I did. After one month there was significant improvement in my symptoms. My jaw no longer locked in place (scary feeling!), I could chew with no pain and I was able to open my mouth more. I am thrilled with my progress. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Patel.

Definitely echo the other reviews so far on Yelp!…read more Kelly. Is. Amazing. We were having the hardest time finding a good nights sleep for our 9 month old. We read several books and found ourselves making some progress but getting confused as to the nuances of applying the techniques. All still never getting our kid to sleep through the night without waking up 2-3 times for minutes to hours. We were looking for someone that would help us and not follow a full-extinction methodology from the get go. After looking around at some yelp reviews, facebook mom groups, and Weissbluth sleep offerings, we decided to do a consult with Kelly. She did a phone consult with us to understand where we were at so that she could determine what approach we should best follow should we work with her. Kelly then scheduled time to come out to see our place and our nursery and to talk through starting the sleep training. She also provided a shared spreadsheet and sleep plan that she would follow and adjust with us as needed. We were apprehensive about how it would all go but we gave it a go and our little guy slept through the whole night on the first night. Kelly helped us have confidence in what we had taught our baby so far and how far we could stretch it to improve his self-soothing skills. As our 3-weeks with Kelly proceeded, we had weekly check in calls and were able to text her with any questions that came up as we navigated moving from 3 naps down to 2 daily naps and a slightly fluid bedtime. We're at the end now and while sleep isn't perfect yet, we now have a baby that sleeps peacefully through the night and has 2 naps a day totaling between 2-3 hours. He falls asleep in 10 mins or less after we put him down, sometimes as fast as 2 mins. We feel confident we can get his sleep even more predictable on our own now. Did I mention that Kelly. Is. We chose the in-home sleep training package, and it was one of the best decisions we've made. Lisa helped us properly set up our baby's nursery for optimal sleep and guided us in establishing healthy sleep habits while eliminating the ones that were making sleep difficult. Before working with her, our baby relied heavily on being breastfed, rocked, and soothed to sleep. It often took hours to get him down, and naps could take up most of my day. At night, he would wake 6-8 times for feeding or soothing, and we rarely got even a two-hour stretch of sleep. When Lisa came, she was able to change everything starting from the very first night. Our breastfed baby now sleeps through the night with no feedings and is able to nap independently as well. The difference in his mood and energy is incredible--he is now a much happier and more well-rested baby. In addition to the in-home support, Lisa was very communicative and supportive throughout the remaining 14 days via text, always available to answer questions and provide reassurance. My only regret is not hiring her sooner. I highly recommend Lisa to any parents struggling with sleep, and I will absolutely be working with her again for our future babies.

When it came time to sleep train our second baby, we knew right away we'd reach out to her again. Lisa is simply amazing at customizing her approach to each baby's needs. She guided us through weaning our little one off night feedings and helped him go from being rocked to sleep, to sleeping independently for both naps and nighttime. He's now sleeping through the night, and it's been a total game changer for us. What sets Lisa apart is that she checks in daily throughout the two-week process, making sure you feel supported every step of the way. It's not just a generic plan you follow alone--she's there to help you troubleshoot and adapt, which makes the whole process so much more effective. She's also super fast to respond which is so reassuring when you need guidance. We can't recommend Lisa enough to any family looking for a personalized, responsive, and truly effective sleep training experience!
