What I can say about this store is nothing but great things! It has some of the best Chicago themed gifts I've came across. Staff here was very nice too. There's tons of Chicago related gifts you can get from various other stores but this store in particular is made by local artists. You can get a cool painting that depicts an alternate Chicago as a cartoony wasteland. Hats that poke jokes at the state of illinois and other friendly Midwest related themed items. Unexpected visit, and I'm so glad that I discovered this terrific place for unique Chicago and neighborhood-themed artwork and gifts. Located just a short walk south of Lincoln Square's main district, Sacred Art was such a good vibe. They play great music, have independent artists' work all over the shop, and it's a fun visit. Originally in Roscoe Village, they moved to their current location a decade ago. Such a unique selection, paintings, ceramics, photos, homemade jewelry, posters with a Chicago theme. Whether you are buying for your Chicago-area home, latching on to a memory, or looking for an item to retain your fond thoughts of your Chicago visit, this is a really good stop. Loved their "L" line station ID's, such a part of everyday public transit in this great city. So many interesting items, spent a half-hour here, and I'm looking forward to my next visit here because it's a special shop. read more

A gem of a store. The space is longer than it is wide, so it looks like a small place until you enter and start wandering. The name of the store isn't exactly a perfect description - if I think "sacred" art, I think of icons and religious pieces. I didn't see any of that here. But, there is plenty of Chicago-themed art at the front of the store, featuring neighborhoods and sports teams. Sacred Art has a wide variety of items made by local artists. These may be jewelry, candles, cards, other forms of art, and all sorts of small, creative items that are perfect to decorate your home or your own body. I don't know who curates the collection of items available here, but that person has a great sense of taste and style. You can't go wrong with anything you find here. read more

There were particular prints resembling history of chicago house architecture that caught my eye I'll be back in the near future to purchase. I bought a pair of earrings and a card. No one reads my reviews. It is what it is. Still, I feel compelled to express my appreciation. This place and everything in it is fucking cool. Handcrafted materials and artwork fill the walls and tabletops. It is creative, inspirational, understated yet edgy artwork. I love this place. It is comfortable. It is comfortable in every sense. The artwork and offerings have color abstractions that invite the eye. Too often artwork is done to be noticed and fails because of it. Prints, canvas, photographic and scrap artwork is on view. The store has a stable of artwork but also seems to have an continual influx of new artists and artwork on display. Visitors are made aware that the majority if not all the artwork is made and created by local artisans. This is to be noted just as one should be aware to shop local. Same as for the previous location - full disclosure - this is my sister-in-law's store. The new location in Lincoln Square is great. The content of the store (including Sarah, who is just great, but more on her later) is the same as before, but the store is brighter and cheerier. As before, the local artwork represetns a great variety of types and prices, and there should be something for anyone on almost any budget. Sarah is super nice and friendly, so if you are in the area, I suggest you stop in and say hello. Maybe you'll see something you like, maybe you'll see something a friend would like. I love art. Especially when it's local and I can afford it. This is why Sacred Art is one of my favorite places in the square. There's tons of really cool pieces from local artists in here. Mugs, small prints, silkscreens, tiles, paintings,...I love this place for gifts. You can find really awesome, personal stuff and not spend an arm and a leg. In addition to gifts, I love this place for MYSELF. We have several pieces in our house from Sacred Art and we always get compliments on them. When Sacred Art closed down in Roscoe Village (BACK IN THE DAY) I was so sad, but I am so glad that it was merely relocating and not shutting it's doors. Side note: Owners are really nice as well. Another reason why I love this store. I moved to Australia, and an item I bought from them got damaged during the move. I wanted to make insurance claims (I had insurance on my shipping), and did not have the receipt for the item. So I emailed Sarah and she was able to look up the invoice and send me a copy so I can make a proper insurance claim. Having lived in Santa Fe for about three years, I am a sucker for any art gallery that showcases quality work by local artists, especially when the featured artists tackle local themes. Sacred Art has a nice selection of Chicago-themed artwork done by local artists. Today, after much deliberation, I bought a giclee of the Chicago Theatre by local artist Anastasia Mak. The style of the print itself is both dark and vibrant, with all the colors of the Chicago Theatre's lights offset by a dramatic black backdrop. Very cool and moody. There are several other artists currently featured at this gallery that make extensive use of Chicago themes, including the popular collection of posters of the city divided into its various neighborhoods. These posters are a great way to display the remarkable anatomy of this city. For women, there is also a selection of clothing items for sale, from scarves and hats to different shirts and jewelry. If you are looking for a belt buckle that has the Chicago flag shown prominently on its exterior, then you have come to the right place. Another great thing about this art gallery is that the staff are pleasant and friendly, without any of that obnoxious condescension you can find at some other art galleries. I have come in here several times over the last year, and during each visit I have been made to feel welcome. Sacred Art has inspired me to re-design the basement a.k.a. "man cave," in our home. But I know my husband would not at all be impressed by this idea since it's already decorated with Chicago sports teams memorabilia and other man stuff. After my visit at Sacred Art, I'm definitely going to work in a Chicago theme somewhere in my home. The Chicago-themed art is impressive. It's tasteful, modern, and completely unlike the gigantic glossy posters that are sold so many other places. Sacred Art boasts a great collection that is affordable. The three or four pieces that caught my eye were less than $30. This shop has it all: Chicago themed art, jewelry, candles, baby onesies, even a "Hipster Bingo" game for $8. I purchased a "Chicago Autumn" soy candle for $7 as a small housewarming gift. I'm going to start scoping out the wall space in our home to figure out where I can re-design and add a Chicago theme. If I had more money, I'd spend it all here. Sacred Art boasts a great collection of Chicago-themed art. I've bought a few smaller pieces from them, and will one day buy more. Of course it's a bit pricey, but you are definitely paying for quality. Everything they have is beautiful and made meticulously and precise. My one qualm is that while they have Cubs, Sox, Bears and Bulls art, there's a severe lack of Chicago Blackhawks art :( read more

I am a big fan of local art and I like buying pieces and supporting local artists. There aren't any shops like these out in the burbs where I live so I was definitely intrigued when I walked into this store. They are many different art pieces that you can buy at prices that can fit all budgets. I definitely like the Chicago themed art and would like to buy something like that for my home once I save up more money. The shop worker on the Saturday I visited was friendly and helpful. If I was a millionaire, I know where a huge chunk of my money would go ----this store! I love, love, love this store. It's small with a lot of sweet, creative tresures in every nook and cranny. But what impresses me most, is the attention to detail and follow up on their end when it comes to customer service. I frequent this store often, although it's not in my neighborhood to see if they have anything new. I had my eye on this copper bracelet that had an imprint of a map into the Loop via the redline & brownline. I thought to myself, 'Oh I don't have the money right now, I'll come back.' Well, when I came back a week later they were ALL gone! I was so bummed and disappointed when I found out they were sold out. The lady behind the counter offered to take my number and call me if they get anymore in. 3 weeks later, after I had totally forgotten about giving her my number, I get a random call from her telling me the bracelets were in. She offered to hold one for me, and I told her I'd be in Saturday to pick it up. I went in on the Saturday, purchased my stylin' piece of art, and now I'm wearing it all over the Chi. I get compliments daily. You can't beat that kind of customer service! read more

Anyone who's been to my apartment and then ventures into Sacred Art would see why I like the store -- finding unique and original art pieces is one of my many hobbies, and Sarah does an excellent job of offering a tremendous diversity of artwork in one venue. Her store is child-friendly (just make sure you're not one of those parents who lets their children run rampant -- she's tolerant as long as your kids are well behaved!) and there's a wide range of prices for every budget. This place is amazing! It is my favorite art store in Chicago, and I try to visit every time I'm in town. Tonight was even more amazing than usual because the very kind woman working had just turned the sign to "closed" when we arrived, and saw us dejectedly staring in the window, and she came outside and invited us in. The new Lincoln Square store is the PERFECT location for the new Sacred Art. Sarah has done an amazing job making the space approachable and super fun to walk around and take everything in. We were given a house warming gift from Sacred Art, which we liked but had no use for it. So, we wen back the to store a few weeks later hoping to exchange it for something else. Long story short, the owner Sara called my husband a few weeks later and was very accommodating - she allowed us to pick something else from a different artist, something that we really liked and are now displaying on our wall. The pricepoints range from affordable to "I like it,by not THAT much." it's also somewhat Chicago centric, making it a great place to find unique Chicago souvenirs (I said UNIQUE - no shotglasses or etchings here) for visitors or for yourself.
