I was parking my car to see the doc at Northwestern's new location across the street when I saw this adorable store, and I had a little time left on my meter after my appointment, so I popped in. So glad I did! While a few of the items were out of my price range (or not really, but out of my price range's comfort zone, like a $30 candle that's supposed to smell like Chicago), I really loved the fun gifts! Do they have to have every sock, mug, puzzle, coin purse, and oven mitt available from a line? Maybe not. But it's still fun to look at them all! I enjoyed all the Chicago-themed and LGBTQ+ stickers, fun cards (but more postcards, please!) and jewelry (again, more please!) I grabbed a birthday card for a pal, a t-shirt for my man, some earrings and clearance Christmas items for myself, and some stickers for everyone, because who doesn't love stickers? Service was excellent, too. I didn't get her name, but my person greeted everyone who came in with a welcome, and when I checked out she even separated the Christmas items to make sure they rang up properly at the clearance price, and when my snowman Peeps didn't (don't judge), she fixed it manually. While I was browsing through local Knick-knack stores on Yelp, I came across a picture of mug with a statement that was extremely relatable to my daily live. Wanna know what that was? Sure, there you go. "This Meeting is Bullsh*t." We wanted to give this mug to hubby's superior because he has got the sense of humor, and we knew he would appreciate this. We visited "Enjoy, an Urban General Store" in Lincoln Square on a Saturday evening. It was certainly poppin' with customers who were doing their last-minute Christmas shopping. We didn't face too much difficulty to locate the walls of mugs. Beside purchasing that "bullsh*t meeting" mug, hubby got me a "let that sh*t go" mug. It also featured a funky yoga pose, which cracked me up! There were other fun, giftable items for individuals with personality (perhaps with subtle vulgarness or sarcasm). Any pet lovers on your list of gift-giving? I would say check this place out because they probably would like some of the whimsical messages. As expected, a cool, hip shop like this wasn't going to be a dollar store nesting in the neighborhood corner. I was fully aware of the higher price tags, yet I adored lots of unique things I saw there and was willing to splurge a bit. The associates were cheerful and friendly. Gift-wrapping service was available upon request. We were also informed that they had a temporary pop-up shop for the holidays at the Old Paciugo location nearby. I believe this allowed the rest of backstock merchandise to display and helped increase sales. In addition, patronizing local businesses is always a good idea. I was glad that I did so. This strip of Lincoln Square is close to the CTA Western Brown Line station. For those who choose to drive, paid street parking can be found along Lawrence Ave. read more

We live in the neighborhood and love shopping here for gifts. They have a great selection of items, so you can almost always find anything for anyone on your list. The people who work here are very warm and welcoming, even when I have my 3 kids with me. This might not sound like a big deal, but it actually is a big deal to us. A lot of businesses will see kids walk in the door and automatically assume they will be misbehaved. My husband and I really try to make sure our kids are respectful ("look with your eyes, not your hands," etc) and have expected behavior in stores, so it's really nice that they are given a chance to do so at Enjoy, and not met with automatic scowls when they enter the store. We also love their section of unique Chicago themed gifts, and our kids love their selection of candy! read more

There were probably at least 50 items I wanted to buy while I was here. Cute, sassy, pun-ny, rude, quirky, sarcastic, ridiculous, prideful - you name it, they got it. This is my kind of store. So many items spoke to me on a deep level that for a sec I thought they were reading my mind I ended up buying a coin purse and a zipper pouch by Blue Q - a line of pencil cases, totes, coin purses, different size pouches etc. made with 95% recycled material... so many fun designs and very durable! I really love the stuff they have, love local shops, have been coming her for years, but the staff is almost always so rude. This isn't a new development since the pandemic, either. The staff seems completely and totally bothered by your mere presence, almost (sometimes literally) rolls their eyes when it's time to check out, and asking for help is out of the question. They will lie to you if something is in stock or not just because they don't feel like answering a question. The staff culture just seems to generally suck and it shows in the way they treat the customers. The point of local stores is that we build a sense of community over evil behemoths like Amazon, but damn, I walk out of here bitter more times than I do happy, even if I love the actual purchase. I really hope the ownership or management can help change this. read more

Well, this is just fun. I could have spent a couple of hours going through everything they offer. Yes, as the name suggests, they do have candy and gum. But, the really fun items are their greeting cards, books, coffee mugs, and even socks. The liberal use of 4-letter words on some of these items may offend some so beware. Very rude customer service. They used to wrap gifts, which is partly why I chose to go here to buy a couple hospitality gifts. I was bummed to see that they no longer offer this service and expressed my disappointment. The staff barked back at me and got defensive. Turned into more of a confrontation than a friendly shop service. After I said I didn't need a bag at all (I rarely take bags at any kind of store for environmental reasons) she handed me a dime to account for the brown bag cost that I apparently saved. This is a truly cool gift shop, especially if you're trying to find something for that special kickass woman in your life, be she your GF, partner, mother, wife or friend. I say that because many of the gifts seem to be geared toward women, though by no means all of them. I'd definitely say that this is worth checking out for more general gifts too. Enjoy is a super-cute, unique store in the heart of Lincoln Square. It's one of those places that has everything you don't need or have any use for. Tchotchkes and stocking stuffers abound here. A friend and I stopped in here after having brunch at Cafe Selmarie. It's very kitschy with all kinds of gift items like baby clothes, bachelorette party items, one-of-a-kind greeting cards and stationery, coffee mugs and jewelry. You could easily spend an hour in here looking at stuff and spending a small fortune on utterly useless, but fun, items. I bought several "just-because" cards that I can't wait to send out because they're hilarious and will be appreciated by the recipient. The staff laughed with me as I paid for my purchase so I knew I made the right choice. One could spend $5 or $500 here - it's that kind of place. This store to rename itself to "Enjoy, An Adorable General Store". I mostly try to avoid it, because I would find something to buy every. single. time. I came to browse. Nothing that I need, but a cute mug that would make office life more fun, or a cute card for someone's birthday or 4 cards for an upcoming anniversary (seriously, doesn't everyone have a card buying problem?). It is perfect when you are in a pinch and need a gift. They have things for ladies and gents - jewelry and fun Chicago-themed things and beer journal and candles and teas - a perfect hodge-podge of loveliness. Plus, their card selection may not be chain store huge, but they are the fine quality, darling print kind - SO much better to opt for these, I think. I'm so glad this is in the neighborhood. RUDE! That's all I can say about their customer service, even though the store is well laid out, and carries novelty items you would love to give as gifts. I was strolling through The Square after dinner with a friend, and the door to Enjoy was wide open. There were about 15 customers inside the store, on Friday, 8/28. So my friend and I walked in. NO sooner are we looking at kitchen items, that a cashier yells out, "We are sorry guys, but the store is closed." "You need to leave." Now, granted, when I looked at my watch it was 7:06 p.m., BUT the glass door to the store was WIDE open, and nowhere did I see a visible sign with store hours proclaiming that we were to assume they were closed. There were some people still milling about, and others were waiting in line to be rung up. What attracted me to go in in the first place, was a canvas tote on display in the window that said "I remembered my grocery bag." I thought it was perfect as a gift for my mother, given the recent ban on plastic bags in the city of Chicago. We ended up walking out and I will look for the bag online or in other stores, and will now buy one for every female friend I have, out of spite to Enjoy. It was not the fact that the store was closing for the day, it was the way it was said. And besides, stores in The Mag Mile, or the shops at Armitage and Halsted ALWAYS have a person standing by the door near closing time, who is politely letting you know their doors are locked. I own in the neighborhood and while real estate prices are high, this is still NOT Lincoln Park, so the attitude has to stop. I, for one, will NOT be spending any more money at Enjoy, and will not recommend it to anyone with me that wishes to peruse its aisles. There are other stores in the city that carry similar items who know how to treat their guests. read more

I can always find a gift here. Their comical, adult section is seriously hilarious. Every item is SO FUNNY. I've even found stuff for my dad here. That's practically impossible. The store is small, and a lot of stuff is overpriced, but they pack the coolest stuff in to this place. There's also a lot of things I would never buy, but can look at repeatedly in awe. (bacon mints, singing pickles, jesus bandaids) I would recommend they redesign the window. I didn't go here for months because it looked like a boring baby/raincoat/outdoor wear store. way off!!! I like this store because it's impossible to walk out without finding something silly or sweet or funky to buy for yourself or someone you love. Today, I found some funny greeting cards, a ridiculously adorable wooden whale tape dispenser ( awwwww, yeah!), and a sentence-a-day diary of happiness. My life is going to be SO awesome now. Enjoy was the cornerstone of a disappointing day of shopping in Lincoln Square. I don't know what I was expecting, but it was obviously more than what I got. I hoped to find some cute stocking-stuffery type gifts for the kids on my Christmas list. If the kids were infants were or middle-aged women, I would have been more successful.
