I had used this company before on a project and was really happy with the experience. However I recently hired them to paint my house and was left very disappointed with the process. Oliver and his guys do pretty good work but the communication over schedule and money was really bad and unprofessional and I was constantly catching little mistakes in the work and having to ask for them to be addressed. I was out of town when the project began. I returned to find a house that had received two coats but obviously needed a third. Oliver quickly agreed and later, after many delays and drama, did the third coat as well as other aspects of the project that he had left unfinished. When he and I discussed this part of the project and I asked why he hadn't applied the third coat without me asking for it when it was obvious to his expert eye that it was necessary, he told me that he doesn't speak up when he notices things like that. He said that he waits to see if the client complains about it so he doesn't have to do unnecessary extra work. This told me all I needed to know about his work ethic. Oliver and his crew painted my entire medical clinic approximately 2 years ago. The project was done in several phases including Oliver's father putting wooden flooring in my exam rooms. They were always extremely professional and courteous enough to work around my business hours. Their workmanship is excellent, and their pricing is very reasonable. Well, this is more a review of business practices and not so much of the work... I asked them for a quote and received no response to my request. I contacted them again (through yelp) and set up an appointment for a quote, and asked for a better way to contact so we could stay in touch. They were a no call no show for the quote, I texted them to confirm time and to ask if they would still come (as their rough estimate was very competitive), no response. My husband called their number on yelp and left a couple messages, no response. Bummer! Based on the other review that had an incomplete job and lack of communication, I would be cautious of hiring them. read more

Beware if you prefer attention to detail, quality work, or timely completion of your painting would not hire. We have to hire another painter to repair all quality issues owner said were outside scope of contract after we agreed on work . Oliver is an absolute con artist. He's a smoother talker and promises the world, but never follows through. I paid him 50% down to complete an interior job, back in June. He said he'd send a 'crew' and finish the job in 2 days. The day of, he left a young man... with obviously no experience to do a terrible job. It's been 4 months.. he has booked me in and promised to be there 3 times now. He texted once to cancel, the other times just didn't show up. I took those mornings off work to be home for it. After talking to him a few days ago, he apologized and said he'd be here 8am this morning. Nothing. Wouldn't answer my phone calls. My husband finally made contact with him, he denied knowing who we were.. then blew up and said we were 'even' and the first part of the job was completed. He has only completed painting window frames/cills- $340 worth of work. I'm sure he does complete some jobs to satisfaction. But do NOT ignore the reviews he has... so many people have been ripped off by this man. read more

Oliver and his team were fantastic!!! From the moment he arrived to give us an estimate he was courteous and respectful of our taste and desires in what we wanted done. He was also terrific with our young daughter who wanted to "help" constantly! I especially appreciated how he offered his opinion and expertise but didn't try to sell anything or push us his way. I never felt like he was trying to make money, he genuinely wanted us to be happy with our decisions and even worked to save us money! The painting process was speedy and completed on time. They went above and beyond to meet our expectations and did a few extra touch-ups without charging. He even came back out after the job was complete and responded to our email inquiry very quickly. We also had a beautiful new back splash added in our kitchen and again, they worked with us to make it something we are proud of and love!! Midwest Painting is affordable, friendly, completes a job on time (if they anticipate a delay they will tell you in advance), and does an overall excellent job. I would highly recommend them and will call them again if we have any new painting needs. read more

My experience with Midwest Painting (Oliver) could've been a lot better. If you have a smaller job, you will be treated as a second class customer. I DO NOT recommend Midwest Painting. Oliver sub-contracted my job (to my surprise) and it was a bait & switch considering the way Oliver represented himself during the estimate process. Oliver wrote the estimate for the work to take place over a 3 day period but the sub-contractor tried to rush & complete in 1 day (that didn't work). Well, the sub-contractor left areas unpainted so I had to contact Oliver (very difficult; he doesn't return phone calls if he is busy or sick), I actually had to call Oliver's father to bring closure to the long drawn out project (1 month). Oliver eventually did attempt fix to problem areas but actually made things worse, so I actually finished the job myself, including touch-ups and clean-up. p.s. The sub-contractors left cigarette butts in my landscape & got paint on my porch. Oliver is a nice guy, he needs to treat his customers with more respect! read more

I work at a medical facility in Brighton so there is a lot of furniture and equipment to work around. Oliver and his crew did a great job. They worked long into the night to get our practice ready to open on time. Oliver even helped us pick out colors. We have received many compliments on the new office look. This is an honest review of Oliver's company. I feel they were very busy with other jobs and felt as a customer pushed to the side. I was told by one of his workers that he would come back and finish their work. I left 4 voicemails to the owner, but after one week no call back. So, my 2 walls are unfinished. Also, looking over a few of the finished walls there are a few spots that need another coat. Very unprofessional job. They also left bags of garbage by our garage and cigarette butts in our planters!!! I will not refer this company to my friends or neighbors. They're also missing out on big money for my company affiliate. I was planning on having them finish the rest of my home, but will have another company complete it. Oh well, they're loss. read more

I requested a quote via yelp and received a response within an hour. Oliver, the owner, came out quoted painting the interior of our condo the next day. I felt comfortable letting Oliver and his team paint our place while we were at work, which was a big plus. His team painted our walls light grey and left the ceilings and crown molding white. There was a lot of edging in our place and it looks great! We had our kitchen refaced after the paint job was complete and needed a few touch-ups on the kitchen walls after the kitchen was complete. Oliver came out and made them, no questions asked. Would absolutely recommend this company and go with them again based on their flexibility, quality, and price. 5 stars hands down. read more

Oliver gave us precise quote, project plan, and time frame. He is also very good at picking colors. He gave us lots of suggestions when we selected painting colors, and result was pretty good. His team paid special attention to details and worked very efficiently. We used 7 colors for the whole house, and, because of their splendid job, the whole house is the same as what we expected. The contract, signed on 5-5-18 said the house and barn would be completed 6-30-18. The guys got a late start and would work diligently for a week and be gone for a week or 2. After numerous unanswered calls, texts and emails, we did a walk around and discussed the small details that were undone like the back wall of the barn needed another coats and the house doors were not yet done. Oliver said the color I chose for the doors didn't "pop". I came home the end of July to find one door propped open and half painted an ugly, random, army colored green. I could not reach Oliver so I sent emails saying do it in white. He went totally MIA and took the final payment off my credit card without my authorization! I disputed the charge. He emailed me he would be there in August, no call no show. Then early September, again no call no show. He finally finished the job to my satisfaction 9-26-18. It was exhausting and frustrating trying to get this job completed. That said, He did apologize nicely and said her was having personal issues. Oliver is very charming and helpful, he disposed of all my old paint for me and was so patient in helping me choose the perfect colors. I had my entire condo painted by Midwest. Oliver has still not completed the job which was started over a month ago. He never returned to complete the job as promised. On the day he promised me he would return with two workers, over two weeks ago, he never showed up. He will not return my calls or messages. I am a single senior woman and am left with a mess which I cannot do on my own. To start with I have doors that were not rehung. When I removed hardware, it was not painted underneath. The doors were not painted on the outer sides, only the front and back. The back of my closet doors were not painted at all. Multiple holes that were not filled. I had carpet painted to the trim in at least 20 areas. On my stairway there is a one inch unpainted area after the carpet was removed. Multiple paint drips and areas with fuzz on the walls. The list goes on. He did come back twice. Once to paint over areas where the trim was painted on with the wall paint and fix a 10" x 10" botched area,. Then again to remove the carpet on the trim. He told me that he had fired 2 of his crew that did such lousy work but that doesn't help me at all. I was really taken by him because he's a real smooth talker and I was just plain gullible. I can't believe that he would do this to me. Now I'm must hire another painter and bite the bullet for the cost which I really can't afford. BEWARE of this happening to you.
