I have to start out by saying I can't believe there are reviews on here with anything less than 5 stars!! If I could add more, I would. We had our wedding reception/New Years Eve party where we were lucky enough to have Midwest Sound and MATT O. as our DJ. I can't tell you how many people have told me how much fun Matt was!!!!! He absolutely, 100%, without a doubt made our night a BLAST!!! Before the party, my husband and I went out to meet Matt and talk about our music preferences and what we wanted at our party. He made suggestions, and listened to every word we said. He told us about himself and how much he loves his job. As soon as we walked out of the meeting I was telling my husband how excited I was because I knew Matt was going to nail it. And he did!!!! Matt stuck to what we wanted and kept everyone dancing all night long!! He even busted out some perfect Jackson 5 moves that put the rest of us to shame. He called us a couple days prior to make sure we all were still on the same page. My mind was at ease knowing that I could completely trust Matt to provide excellent entertainment to our guests. Matt, you went above and beyond our expectations. We are both so grateful. Without you, our party just wouldn't have been fun. We called a couple other places before Midwest Sound. Midwest Sound had the BEST prices hands down. There's a reason why they have been in business this long. I will recommend Midwest Sound to anyone that is looking for a DJ. We had so much fun. We had a great experience with DJ Larry at our wedding reception! He was very flexible, respectful of the way we envisioned the evening, and got everyone out on the dance floor! He played the right first dance and last song. He was a professional all night, dressed in a nice short and tie and even showed up 2 hours early to set up. He was also good at coordinating with our other vendors to make announcements and keep the night running smoothly. He took requests in a cute book on his table and tried to incorporate them the best he could. He wrote us a sweet thank you note at the end of the night. We had midwest sound and worked with Nic Sept 28th for our wedding. Everything seemed very organized in planning, and the ceremony was beautiful. I will say I was extremely disappointed when he introduced us under my maiden name and not our married name. Everyone noticed the error. Additionally during the speeches the mic continually cut out despite being far away from the speakers as instructed. Finally, the dance was not great at all, the initial music played was not in my planning form, and then there was a bunch of slow country songs played simultaneously. Multiple people went up to request dancing music including my husband and myself, I told him to just skip the slow stuff so people could dance. Apart from a few group dance songs, 75% of the dancing crowd dissipated immediately. Overall we enjoyed the ceremony, but are overwhelmed with disappointment for the way the rest of the evening went, I would not recommend unfortunately. read more

Our original DJ with another company cancelled on us, and we found Midwest a couple months before our wedding. The reservation process through their portal was very smooth, and payments were easily entered on the portal. We met with our DJ the week prior to the wedding, and come the night of the wedding, our DJ, James was amazing. He kept the party going and we had tons of fun. Absolutely recommend! read more

DJ Nate did not disappoint!! He was very professional. He set up a phone call a few days prior to our wedding to go through everything beginning to end. He serviced our ceremony, dinner, projection service, and our reception. He did not miss a beat on anything; zero mixups. He pronounced all names correctly and helped lead the entire day. He had our dance floor full ALL night. Everyone had such a great time! Definitely recommend Nate. Don't forget to tip your DJ when they help make your day awesome!! read more

We used Midwest sound for our wedding and we were so very happy. The initial conversations were very helpful, the deposit was reasonable and we got a great deal on unlimited music with a few add on (we chose par-can lights). During the planning time, Midwest Sound has an amazing portal and will find any music that you want for your event. It also has a place for you to explain your event and specific timing (speeches, dances, etc). We had a pre-call with our chosen DJ - Justin, and he was very pleasant. For setup, Justin really worked on his own, he was able to setup in our backyard DIY wedding with not much help needed from anyone. He even dressed according to our theme colors, down to the colors of his pens in his pocket. During the evening he was great at communicating, very friendly, upbeat, and everyone had an amazing time. Wedding was in 08/2019 , we had the worst possible experience. You do not get to meet the DJ in person until wedding day, just a short phone conversation a couple days before you wedding (they do not assign someone until the week of your wedding) Some of our experiences are below: Before we were assigned a DJ, we listed that we wanted a DJ that is good at interacting to keep the dance floor going, he was the opposite. Our wedding guests all went home early because the dance was horrible. Slow song after slow song and genre of music that was not even close to what we put as our "must play"or play if time. Appearance was not professional. Wore sunglasses and long facial hair. Did not dress professional. Looked like he was tired. Appeared as though he didn't even shower. He was not on time. He was listed to arrive at 2:30. On the phone he said 2:00. He was not there by 2:30. Bridal party, family, friends, and wedding guests were walking up to the bride and groom on their special day just to tell them that the DJ was a "grump" and what he was doing... this is something that should never happen to anyone on their special day. Could not hear the music (we paid extra for him to play ceremony music). Was not loud at all. He played the wrong song for the "Father/Daughter" dance!! In our contract, it said that we would have glow sticks and there were no glow sticks provided or on the table. Wedding party members tried to request songs and he would say things like "no" and cover up the next song on his computer/clipboard. He did not play our last song that was on the schedule as the last song. Instead he played something he wanted to instead. He would go outside between songs and then you could see him running inside when the song was almost over. And worst of all, Schedule was behind because he walked up to us when the bride and groom were done eating (when we should have been starting the speeches) and said to us "my van door just fell off so I will be outside taking care of that before speeches but you can start if you want." We could not start the speeches because the music was on. read more

We had high hopes about Midwest Sound but unfortunately it was a terrible experience. We talked to our DJ the day before our wedding, so you'd think that everything would go smoothly. Well that's not what happened. He forgot his paper work which shouldn't really matter because we filled out everything online. So he called my husband Blake multiple times when his name is Peter.... I called Katelyn once. He played the wrong version of our first dance song. Played a completely different song for my mother daughter dance and I stopped it and made him play the right song. He didn't cut the length of any of the songs for those dances so they got long and awkward. And he stopped playing music a hour later than he was supposed to. So all in all he ruined so many things that we can never get back and or so again. We also had some guests tell us he was running around with his shoes off. The company has just played phone tag with us and hasn't compensated us in any way. Save yourself the heartache and go with someone else. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE Midwest Sound and DJ Emmet Z! We booked Midwest Sound for our wedding reception (Oct, 2011) after talking to at least half a dozen companies. We narrowed it down to Midwest and one other for their professionalism. We met with Shamus and he definitely helped to pull us to choose Midwest over the other company. We were able to choose must play and ,must not play songs with on on line database as well as enter in other information such as what dances to do (and not to do), bridal party info, etc - much easier than writing it all and submitting it on paper. I spoke with our DJ, Emmet, the week before the wedding and he was very (not overly) enthusiastic to be part of our day; we discussed everything that I had previously submitted and I felt very confident that we were on the same page for the reception during that conversation. On the night of the reception, he was dressed professionally (dress paints, shirt and tie), was accommodating to requests, had the perfect level of enthusiasm (got people on the floor and didn't chase them away), and really got our party started and kept it going. He played music that people knew - no mystery songs! The light set up was perfect. We had numerous people come up to us during and after the reception to say that he was the best DJ they've ever seen. We are SOOOOOO HAPPY that we selected Midwest and that Emmet was our DJ. I recommend both to anyone and everyone looking for a DJ! read more

My wife and I hired Midwest Sound for our wedding on 8/5/11. We were very happy with the service that they provided. For starters we called in June and they were able to accomodate with less than 2 months notice. After speaking with them directly, we received our packet to pick songs and set up all the extras that the dj does (garter toss, chicken dance, any other goofy stuff). We took it easy on the goofy stuff and also requested that the dj play music and not attempt to steal the show. After sending in our packet and voicing our concerns we waited until 2 weeks before. At this point our DJ Zak contacted me and we discussed the music and program. He did a great job with the party as he kept everyone dancing and involved, was not the least bit intrusive and really just kept the mood going all night. The price was super affordable, the people are professional and the atmosphere that was created was amazing. I would highly recommend Midwest Sound for anyone that is looking for a DJ in Minnesota. read more

My wife and I went through Midwest Sound DJ Entertainment for our wedding on 8/17/2019. After seeing one of their DJs work our friend's wedding we knew who we wanted to use for our upcoming nuptials. We requested the same DJ and were lucky enough to get him. Alex U. was a blast and a half. Our whole goal of the reception was to keep the party going, and Alex made that happen. Between taking requests to even throwing down some sweet moves on the dance floor the party was fantastic. We chose to have a Photo Booth as well through Midwest Sound and that was a great choice. People could text or email the pictures to themselves, and we received the entire camera roll from the evening! For the last half hour Alex grabbed the Photo Booth and brought it out onto the dance floor, and those are my favorite pictures by far!!! Midwest Sound was super easy to work with and had back up plans set up just in case of emergency (DJ sickness, equipment issues, etc.). Such great value too! I highly recommend using this for any DJ need you may have in the future, and be sure to request Alex U. if you get the chance!! read more

I would not recommend Midwest sound. I was at a wedding where the DJ was from Midwest Sound and was amazing! So we booked them for our wedding in hopes that this was how every performance was. It was definitely not. First, about 6 months after we booked and paid a deposit I received a phone call from them asking me if I wanted to book with Midwest Sound. They had already cashed our deposit! I had to clarify that they had us on the schedule and that we had already booked with them. How does that even happen? We were granted three free upgrade enhancements because of my husbands work (colored lighting on the dance floor, bubble machines, cordless microphones, ect.) . Only, they didn't offer us our selections until two days before the wedding (we booked over a year in advance.) By that time it was leftovers, and they didn't even have three available for us to pick from. The DJ acted mad at my husband and I all night. He was not the personality that is right for a DJ, no sense of excitement or joy with his work. He was no where near as interactive as we would have liked. The songs he played cleared the dance floor and repeated songs on our "must play" list vs. playing good songs to dance to. It just wasn't the party we were hoping for. Yes he showed up on time and played the right songs for our ceremony and cocktail hour but there is a personality that needs to come with a DJ and we did not get that. Midwest sound was the only vendor that went up and behind for us to return us our money including our deposit. We booked Midwest Sound to be the DJ for our wedding reception on 8-17-13 and were very disappointed with what we got. Up front they were fairly professional. We talked to the right people within the organization to get us hooked on using them. We filled out their online survey so they could get a feel for what kind of music we liked and what level of involvement we wanted from the DJ. They said that based on how we filled out the survey they would select a DJ within their company that would suit our needs. This was hardly the case. Our DJ looked like he was a summer intern. We had a specific CD we wanted him to play for our first dance because the songs on it were cut together just the way we wanted. He insisted he could take the songs from his playlist and mixing/blend them together. What resulted was a mess because he never knew where to stop one song and start another so our first dance was very disappointing. We didn't want to have any bridal games played at all. This we were clear about in our survey, and yet a bridal game was played during the course of the evening. His music selection was horrible. It cleared the dance floor with his selection of music. When asked if he was required to stick to a specific playlist of songs, he responded that he wasn't. He was just, "reading the dance floor." Which was completely empty. Since he was able to take requests, the guests kind of took over being the DJ, requesting a long list of songs to play that would light up the dance floor. We were asking for basic Top 40 Music, but the problem was that we stumped him! He didn't know what these songs were and didn't have them in his playlist. A guest gave her iPhone to him and told him to just play a playlist she had already put together. How does this happen? We were very disappointed. read more

I was just at a wedding that had the worst dj ever. He went by "dj d-bomb" and he had no experience of dj-ing. For example, he played the electric slide during the dollar dance and did not realize what type of music was supposed to be played during this time. After many people requested a change of song and pace he did not understand our requests. He turned the music off multiple times to make announcements that were unnecessary and ruined the moment. We hired Midwest Sound and we couldn't thank them enough for the excellent job they did on our wedding on 02/17/18. Mike, our DJ, was not only punctual and helpful but he did an awesome job. He kept everything under control and made sure that the wedding timeline was as scheduled. If it hadn't been for him, probably we would have forgot what was next on the schedule. Everyone was having such a great time and got so many compliments, my wedding was perfect. I would totally recommend Midwest Sound for your future event. Go with Mike, he won't disappoint you...... We were VERY DISAPPOINTED in our experience with Midwest Sound!! Thankfully we only had them for our ceremony & dinner. I can't even imagine if I would have had them for our entire reception. First off - you have to submit a form stating which songs you would like played MONTHS ahead of time & are not allowed to make changes. Our DJ called the day before the wedding to confirm all of our choices, so you'd think everything would go smoothly, but no. We had DJ Alfie and she delayed my processional song for walking down the aisle. She didn't start playing our recessional song until we were already down the aisle...She also did not even play the correct song/artist for our Grand March. We spent a lot of time deciding which songs we wanted for our wedding & were very disappointed in the service we received. I sent a message to the company once we got back from our honeymoon & have yet to hear back from them with any sort of apology. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PICK A DIFFERENT COMPANY!! read more

We had a terrible experience with Midwest Sound. Stay far, far, away. Let me objectively as possible explain... We heard good things about Midwest Sound and thought we would give them a shot. Our initial meeting went well and we were excited and upsold on getting the entire package, ceremony, uplighting, and slideshow. We had the highest of expectations (given we were buying everything possible) and our one request we said over and over was - we want someone that has been to our venue before because it is unique and more difficult in many ways (The Carlson Towers). They assured us that they have many DJ's with experience there and we felt good. We met our DJ about a week to ten days before the reception and found out they had never been to that location... I was obviously upset and confused. After calling Midwest Sound and explaining my concerns and frustrations, they reassured me that this was the best DJ they have and even though he hasn't been there, he will know everything ahead of time from talking with other Midwest Sound employees. So we trusted the "experts" and went along with the flow. Let me try and explain the issues we had the night of our wedding: 1) The DJ had to ask me, the groom, where all of the outlets were outside, where to set up, etc. He had no clue where anything was. This took time away from me doing my job on my wedding day. His only redeeming factor so far was that he did show up very early (noon) 2)The cords the DJ had were not long enough (more unpreparedness), so he had to call the headquarters and have someone bring longer cables. 3)Then the DJ's outside equipment didn't work so they had to move the inside equipment outside in order to have the ceremony music. 4)Uplighting.....WASTE OF MONEY. We couldn't even see them. There is no way they were set up correctly or something because we saw pictures where the setup looked AMAZING for other people's weddings. 5)Slideshow - It was so bright in our venue, you couldn't even see the slideshow unless you were literally 8 feet away. So at this point all of the extra money we spend was totally wasted. 6)Grand March - He was literally done announcing our names (bride and groom) before our best man / maid of honor had even STARTED walking in... 7)Anniversary dance - epic fail. He had this idea of going backwards... starting with the longest couples first and then the newest.... which ended up meaning that no couples really danced during that song. 8)Dollar Dance - Last but not least, we had to cancel the dollar dance because we were so far behind schedule. It was 9:30 PM and we hadn't started it... most of our guests that would "appreciate" this event were gone! We were "sold" on the idea that the DJ helps "bring the party". By 9:30PM we ended up cancelling the dollar dance and having to tell him what to play for the rest of the night. He was terrible, absolutely awful. We had Midwest sound for our wedding down in Rochester Mn. The dj (Alex) did a wonderful job! I recommend Midwest to everyone I know whose getting married or going to be throwing a party. We used Midwest Sound and had Zac as our DJ, he was AMAZING!! They really do look at what you want in a DJ and pair you with someone who would be best fit. I had heard Zac was awesome so I requested him and he exceeded my expectations! He played all of the songs we requested and every song that was requested by our guests. We weren't going to do any special dances (being it was a 10 year renewal. We got married at the court house originally) but, my best friend asked him to play a song for my husband and I to dance to and my dad and I. He tracked me down to ask me if it was ok! That was awesome that he did that and didn't just call us out on the dance floor. He also knew my dad didn't really want to dance so he shortened the song to only be a minute and a half! He was at the venue earlier than we were and left after we did. He got involved with the crowd like I had requested but also wasn't on the mic the whole time either. I had so many people ask where I found my DJ and how wonderful he was. I HIGHLY recommend Zac. You won't regret it! He's awesome!! read more

A bit too salesy in our initial conversation. Everything seemed to move along nicely. That is until the week before our wedding, we were told they didn't have our ceremony on the calendar. They blamed it on our reception vendor but I truly believe they dropped the ball. We had ONE simple song request for a reception flash mob. We communicated the request with the dj and music director and they both said music was ordered. Night of reception, we touched base with dj again but he totally missed the sign. No flash mob. We had a horrible experience with Midwest Sound and want to warn others to save themselves a lot of time and tears and go with someone else. Initially, we had no concerns with this company, however, 3 days before the wedding, our first DJ didn't call at the scheduled time and when I reached out to him an hour after he was suppose to call, he said he was on another call. Not feeling confident in a DJ who can't call at the scheduled time, we requested a new one. The next afternoon (2 days before the wedding) i still hadn't heard if he had a new DJ so I called the company. They said we had a new DJ and he would be calling soon. He did, we spoke and discussed the 3 songs we requested for our wedding which was the only thing we requested, and it seemed fine. ONE HOUR before I walk down the aisle, the company calls and said our second DJ had a family emergency but they had found coverage. That was stressful, but I acknowledge that family emergencies happen so let it go. We arrive at the venue and there is a new DJ there. The groom and I go to tall with him to make sure he had the 3 song requests. He immediately seems off, seems disorganized and starts asking us about our astrological symbols (what?). We instructed him to announce the speeches right after dinner. He says he will. Dinner ends and we are waiting for the speeches only to realize that our DJ......disappeared. He literally just left. We are all looking for him.....even the caterer had to help. 25 minutes later he finally shows up and says he had to go buy batteries for the microphone. How unprepared are you that you don't have batteries for the basic equipment???? He then was mumbling into the microphone whenever he talked and when he told him that no one could understand him, he said he was "nervous". I called the company first thing Monday and asked how they were going to compensate us. The GM basically told me it was all my fault for requesting a second DJ, he defended the 3rd DJ and said i made him feel like "a shell of a man" and offered us $150. Go somewhere else and save yoursekf a lot of stress and tears. read more

When spending so much money on a DJ you should expect that you will not have to worry about anything on your big day. We were assured by the company that they would match us with the perfect DJ that was right for my fiancé and I and our event. We decided to prepay our DJ's tip with our invoice. It turns out that was a mistake. When the DJ called me to confirm our list of songs and event details he got my name wrong. I laughed a little and brushed it off mostly with a little annoyance in the back of my head but it happened again during the reception. I am the BRIDE... I paid for your services, you should probably know your client. I was horrified. The music he played was fine most of the night but all of my guests complained about the volume and were gone by 9:30. The DJ's personality was not a good match for my husband and I. The worse part is when I called to notify management of the situation and my unhappiness with the services provided, it took at least a week to respond to me. When the president finally did get ahold of me, he told me it was my fault that I did not call them that night. THE NIGHT OF MY WEDDING!! He assured me I had been given a number to call in case things were not going as planned. First of all, why would I take that much time away from my even to call them? Second, what were they going to do on the spot? The president of the company then told me that it was also my fault that I had not received a DJ that I had requested, with high energy, because I had sent my paperwork in later than they had desired. This was the only DJ available for that evening. Of course instead of notifying me that a DJ was not available they simply sent one that they knew would not fit our event. I was furious!! I am still furious about this. After discussing my anger for over 40 minutes, the president finally offered to send my husband and I gift cards to go out to eat. I told him this was not at all what I wanted. I wanted my money back. He told me he could not refund any of my money because the DJ had already been paid. After our conversation I was promised a written letter of apology but I am still waiting on this. I can definitely say I will not recommend this overpriced company to anyone. read more

I hate to say anything bad about any company but this review should help save the next person who thinks about Midwest Sound some trouble. Music was fine, he did what was asked for the most part, although for a DJ he had absolutely ZERO personality. Right before we were going to get started and all my guests (263) have gathered around the dance floor for the first dance this guy told me we couldn't start until I wrote a check for an extra $150.00. He mentioned it was because we unexpectedly had to borrow a microphone, even though we wrote that all over our wedding instructions to the DJ. The $150.00 is not the problem at all, I can afford it. The worst thing that happened at my wedding was having to leave all my guests, walk out to my car and get a checkbook. Walk back in with everyone watching to give this guy a check for 150 before he could start. Wasting 30 minutes of my night, and not to mention completely embarrassing me in front of all my guests. WOW- did not have a great experience with this company. We've cancelled our contract and eaten the deposit- their customer service was THAT BAD. No follow up to any emails we sent, every time we called we were put on hold and given to a different person. You can't email your song requests/ceremony preferences- they only take them by mail (Who doesn't conduct business by email nowadays?). They were cold and rude. Worst yet- we signed an agreement for 8 hours of work, but we were told only 2 weeks before the wedding that if we wanted ceremony music, it would be an extra $200, despite our ceremony and reception all being at the same venue. NOT CHEAP, poor customer service and inflexible? No thanks. Their DJs could be incredible, but we'll never know because we were so turned off by the experience. read more

I dislike having to write negative feedback for companies but when their staff is repeatedly rude I feel it is necessary. Midwest DJ was used for a friend of mine ' s wedding a few years ago and was completely disorganized. She has a do not play list which he completely ignored and songs she requested to play that did not get played. When we asked the DJ if we could have the mic for a special sorority thing we do at weddings he gave me a long sigh and told me it was not allotted in the schedule. When I asked if he would rather have me bring the bride & groom over to allow this, he finally reluctantly told me we could have the mic. Last month, my sister had used them for a dj for her wedding. My fiancé and his parents were seated close to the dj table. When he asked the dj if she could move the speaker a few inches to the left as it was blaring right into his father's ear, she said no. It wasn't until he told her that he was the fiance of the brides sister & he would bring the bride or groom over that she moved it. Last night, I received a phone call at 830pm from them selling their services. The woman stated she received my name because I signed up for more info at a wedding fair I recently attended. First of all, I did not even go into their booth based on the poor experiences with their rude djs. When I told her that I was not in their booth, nor did I request information and I did not need their services based on poor experiences and asked to be taken off the list. She then asked me why and I told her I already booked a dj. She then asked me who. I told her that I would rather not say but based on poor experience I would not be using them but thank you for the call. She then retorted, "well I'm glad I'm not a dj for them!" Sadly, I am writing such a bad review for this company. Here we are, sitting in our seats waiting for that moment when the music starts and the first of the bridesmaids are to walk down the isle. We wait, in anticipation, but the music never and I mean NEVER starts. Finally, they indeed start to come down the isle, in silence, and the flower girl.. I look over, and the "DJ" is just standing there. I'm thinking, why are your RUINING THIS MOMENT!!!! and I find out later that the "DJ" they hired didn't bother to show up, nor when his last minute buddy, trying to cover up for him bothered to bring "the " play list. I rarely write reviews, but felt that DJ Alex U. needed to be praised. DJ Alex showed up incredibly early and helped the catering staff set up, directed guests to the ceremony, and had them sign our guestbook. It was a small crowd of less than 80, but Alex was so energetic and engaging the dance floor was relatively full for the majority of the time. If we didn't know a dance, Gangnam style for example, Alex would join in and show us. Guests could not stop raving about him. We ended up tipping him additional $$ at the end because he did such a phenomenal job. read more

I was very disappointed with Midwest Sound. I had heard great things from them, and everyone I had talked to on the phone prior to booking sold me on this company. They were wonderful on the phone, they had brought up the point that they had never missed a wedding in all the years they had been open, and they had talked to me about how much a DJ truly impacts a wedding. They had told me, that guest don't remember what you served for dinner and what your cake looks like. They remember how much fun they had. They remember the dance! Which is true, and unfortunately for me, that part was a mess. The DJ that would be working my wedding was supposed to call me a minimum of two days before my wedding. (My wedding was at 4:00 pm on a Friday, so they should have called by Wednesday.) He didn't call. At this point I was busy with other things and didn't think about calling them. I did set up a flash drive with my person doing ceremony music, just in case. At 10:20 am Friday morning he finally called me. I had to step away from my hair dresser to take his call. I told him I needed him at the site no later than 3:15, because my ceremony was at the same location and I didn't want him testing music over my ceremony music and while my guest were walking in. Let me add that I was paying mileage because he was coming from the Twin Cities and I was getting married in Duluth, MN. I received a text during my pictures from him at 2:00 saying he wasn't going to be there until after 3:30 because he got stuck in traffic. Anyone from MN knows that on a Friday afternoon their is no traffic heading out of the cities in October. Once he did arrive he did exactly what I had asked him not to. He played music over my ceremony music while my ushers were walking down my guests. I was pretty annoyed at this point, but at least he showed up. When the ceremony was done I walked down to see he didn't even change out of his camo sweatshirt he was wearing. He was the most under dressed person at my wedding. My younger brother told me I should have sent him to leave and change. I figured he was going to be the joke of the reception... he was. He mumbled into the microphone and you couldn't understand what he was saying. Myself and a few others used his microphone and didn't have any problem talking into it. He was also asked by my dad to turn the volume down during the dinner portion because it was too loud, you couldn't have a simple conversation. He didn't listen to my dad and told him he doesn't take orders from him. My other issue I had with him was the fact that I only had 5 must have songs I wanted played, he only played 2 of those songs. I also had two special spot light dances I wanted played, he skipped them. I didn't realize it until it was too late, because it was a tribute to our parents and my mom brought it up later. I am writing this so late because I wanted to give my self time to cool down. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I have been told by guests that he was rude and disrespectful to them. He had told my mom that I should not have invited some of the guests. I was so mad finding out about all of this that I went to cancel his tip check, but it was too late. I urge everyone to be careful. I thought I was paying decent money for someone with manners to run my reception. I was wrong, I would have been better off with an Ipod. I wish my wedding was the first this company missed, it would have been a better experience. read more

I was very disappointed in the music selection. The DJ played the same song 3 times within a couple of hours. With millions of songs out there, that should never happen. Also, I feel it is the DJ's job to get people on the dance floor but it was empty quite a bit. Even the bride and groom cut the dance short at 10:30 and sent the DJ home. read more

Alex was phenomenal!!! He was our dj for our wedding and He was absolutely amazing!!! He got the crowd so engaged and excited. He was friendly and introduced himself to almost all of our guests. He went above and beyond! I had several guest come to me after the wedding and tell me how great and awesome he was! I I highly recommended Alex for all of your Dj needs. We never ended up using this company for our event because it was put on hold but i just had to give them credit for their awesome customer service. Everyone i talked to was very friendly and really knew their stuff. If plans pick back up we know exactly who we will be using. read more

MIDWEST IS THE BEST :) We had Andy L. as our DJ for our wedding reception. One word - Perfect! From start to finish Midwest Sound had the best of the best. #1 affordable #2 great communication- super easy to get a hold of if you need anything #3 service: A+ we felt like royalty #3 playlist- we had a lot of unique song requests ( our grand March was " Bella's finale" from Pitch Perfect and our first dance was "I see the Light" from the Tangled soundtrack. Midwest and Andy delivered on every single one and even customized the rest of the evening's songs according to our music style and the cherry on top #4 the DJ- wow Andy was amazing he kept the party going all night, everyone LOVED him. He checked in with us throughout the night to make sure that we were having a good time and that he was playing what we wanted and he guided the entire evening with ease and enthusiasm, he was always happy. I would highly recommend using Midwest Sound for any event where you need a professional and reliable DJ! We hired them for our wedding in July and we were beyond pleased! They were the first company I contacted and from their website alone I was impressed and new that I didn't need to look any further! When I called, Allison answered and within minutes of talking with her knew we were going to book with them! She was so very helpful, answered all of our questions, and was able to give us a big bang for our buck with discounts and perks! We chose a packaged that allowed us to have music throughout the evening from during the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the dance. We also opted for colorful uplighting which really transformed our reception space! We met our dj, Pete, over the phone a few days before our wedding. He was easy-going, personable, and patiently answered our questions. He stayed in communication with us and was an AWESOME dj!!!! He kept the crowd engaged without being over-the-top or cheesy. We didn't want a traditional grand march where each person was introduced individually...that was NO problem for Pete, he just said each of their names as they came into the room in big group! It was perfect for us! We also didn't do any of the games so that we could pack in as much music as possible. It was fantastic! I wish I could do it all over again and hire Pete again! I was SO impressed with how many of our songs that he managed to play! We had a HUGE variety listed and he played SO many of them. Some were rather obscure and I was SO excited when certain ones came on! He did an amazing job of including so many of our favorites. I was also extremely impressed by how he handled guests' requests. Several of my younger cousins asked him to play specific songs throughout the evening and he always played them right away! The kids loved hearing their songs and had a blast dancing! I couldn't have been happier with Pete and Midwest Sound. I never had to worry ONCE about his services...he was fantastic!
