If you are looking for team gymnastics, I would not recommend Midwest. This gym operates under a façade of openness that doesn't represent the true reality because of the more pervasive intimidation. They prioritize business over individuals and do not create a supportive environment. Judgments were made based on where we live as though hard-working people regardless of where they live don't deserve the same respect and considerations. There is no accountability for the coaches. While there are a few good coaches there, the owner is such a detriment to a supportive environment and is so rude and disrespectful that it may not be worth your time or investment. read more

Edit: We contacted Midwest Training and Ice this morning, so frustrated with how yesterday went and was going to ask for a refund. The manager asked to call me back. Within minutes, I received a call from the owner, who was extremely apologetic, shared my frustrations, and offered a solution above and beyond our expectations. She was very professional and empathetic with our experience, making her such a pleasure to work with. The prompt handling of the situation and the conversation with her has completely changed how we were feeling about everything and we are excited to return to continue to teach my son how to skate and feel comfortable on the ice, whether it is scooting around the cones on the seal or getting used to being directly on the skates and ice! Thank you, Midwest! Original review: The woman at the front desk, who checks people in for open skate, is very nice and always helpful. But the staff on the ice harass people when they enter the center of the ice, even if only by a foot. Apparently, figure skaters are the only ones that are allowed in the center ice. But not only do they have free reign in the center of the ice, they can use the whole rink (the biggest issue being one of the older instructors who does turns and jumps on the outside while families and inexperienced skaters are trying to just skate. She has cut me off several times in the last, nearly causing me to fall). This is not very family friendly or fair to the skaters who paid to be on the ice. The staff scolded my 4 year old when I was just 3 feet away, watching. He clearly was not a skater at all sitting on his seal at the edge of the circle, scooting around. My kid is barely 40 inches tall and rather than approaching the adult, they approached the child. The open skate event had Santa on the ice, so it was clearly a family and children friendly event, but the staff on the ice made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. This wasn't the first time this has happened. If the figure skaters are solely for the center, then they need to stay there and there is zero reason for approaching a 4 year old to scold them for scooting their seal on the edge of the cones. read more

For some reason I can't leave a review on their Facebook page but I want to make this public; We paid for the month of March before Covid went down and they are just opening up now but they are telling us that we lose those sessions that we already pay for because it was not their fault that Covid happened (like it was ours?). The Only way we don't lose make up sessions if if we stay on contract but We did not plan to continue. Why should we lose what we already paid for? And the manager dared me to get a lawyer and in her own words "Like you have one!" Great way to manage your place of business. I'm not sure the lawyer is worth paying for but I will make sure to contact BBB and if my lawyer does say it's worth it then I will push this further. At this point it's not about the money, it's about saving someone else from getting screwed! read more

Kids enjoy coming here - not just for the skating - daughter is getting pretty good, but they enjoy the food also. We routinely get corn dogs, cheesesticks, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, etc., often holding off on eating to eat there. Pluse the skate equipment store is open before lessions, in case you forgot something. read more

Traveled here to watch my niece play hockey. I was initially impressed with the size of the place pulling up. Midwest has a nice snack bar, a small equipment shop, a huge gymnastics area, and a big ice rink. The stands in the ice rink were high enough so that everyone could see the game. The music and announcer were clear over the speakers. The only complaint I have is that they had recycling cans everywhere in the rink but I had to search around for a garbage can. I have played hockey here for three years, and it's a nice place to play. The only major complaint I have is the small locker room size, but aside from that it is a nice facillity. Nice people and good ice. read more

Went there last night for rat hockey and the doors were locked even though the website said rat hockey was last night. Waited for people to open door and the worker said it wasn't happening last night. Called this morning and was told that rat hockey was last night by different worker. Was not happy about wasting gas driving out there because of a lazy worker. Only one star because I'm required to leave a star. read more

Employees are rude & their website is always wrong. Drove out multiple times just to hear that there was no stick and puck or rat hockey.

I was forced to pick 1/5 stars but I wouldn't even give it a 1. Whatever you do, do not Order the pizza here. It was the worst pizza I've ever had. I wasn't expecting much but pizza at little Cesar's is better than this. They charged me $3 for one slice when I could get a whole pizza at little Cesar's for $5 (hot and ready). Both of my daughters go here for tumbling and have fantastic coaches! They have learned more in the past year than have learned in years at the place they used to go to! Most of the coaches genuinely care about their students! It's a little pricey but you do get a disco for multiple children or classes. read more

Just had my daughter's birthday party here a few weeks ago...She turned 12! It was a great place to have a party for a mix of girls and boys that age. I rented it out privately so that my kids were the only ones there. It was a little expensive, but worth it! There is the option though to pay less, but not have a private party. The kids had the run of the entire gym! It was really cool. The two girls that assisted during the party were so sweet and very helpful. We had an hour in the gym and a half hour in the party room. The party room could have been a little better ( mis-matched chairs and a little tattered looking) but it worked for the group we had :) It was a "no fuss" party! This was the wost place ever. There was a coupon in the mail for 1 month free. This way you could try the class before you deceide. Well now I know why they have a coupon. The teacher was yelling most of the class. The advance class had kids of all levels. Any kid could get in the advance class. Made no sense to me. There were majoy safety issues. Kids running across mats while others were tumbling. Way to much to say, but when I called all they wanted to do was get us to come back. This gym was the most unorganized, unprofesstional place I have ever seen. Please before you go here check out other gyms. There should be positive reinforcement. The kids should have to have certain skills to advance to higher levels. Kids should walk the edges of the gym to get a drink and not across the mats. This place was a nightmare for us. read more

I went there for pre-school open gym with my 2 & 4 year old a couple days ago and paid $20 for them ($10 each)... it was an hour and 15 minutes. We use to go all the time before Christmas when it was $5 each. Honestly it was a waste, had it been $5 or $6, I would have been ok. I know a lot of people stopped coming because of the price increase. Facility said it was due to them getting funflatables, which when I went there was only one funflatable up. Really, I'm paying $5 extra for a funflatable that my kids doesn't even use or like? I could see a $1 increase, but a 50% increase for one funflatable is freakin' ridiculous. I would rather have more kids come and have a $1 increase for my business than putting a 50% increase in a bad economy. The owner needs to take an econ. class. My kids only wanted to swing from the ropes... and honestly if I wanted my kids to go on funflatables, I would have gone to funflatables which you can get a groupon for 10 punches for $35 and come back within an hour to go each and continue to jump, even regular price it's only $8 to get in. This place is way too pricey for pre-school open gym, I could see for the older kids, but the little kids lose interest too fast and parents are the ones that keep trying to get them engaged to keep playing because they paid so much to get in there. I had a friend that also came with her two little ones... and they left 45 minutes early, she left and looked at me and said never again will I be coming back, her kids only played a half hour and she paid $20 too. I felt bad that I suggested this for our playdate. They need to offer some type of coupon or punch pass deal for pre-school open gym. I know they said if your a member it's only $5, which we are... but my older daughter is a member, not my younger kids. read more

STAY AWAY!! Front desk manager - horrible customer service. Have a question or a concern and her response is a loud "WHATEVER". Who runs a business like that? Hockey classes are way over filled. At least 25+ kids per group (3 groups + cross ice) so a good 100 kids on the ice at one time. My son spent several weeks past when he needed to be in the level before someone finally realized he had all the skills and should be moved up - even though he's smaller. It's definitely a money maker for them. Gymnastics - can't understand the coaches and the push is to get your kid on a team (regardless of their skills) so they make more money. It's several days a week and you don't see the results for what you pay. The auto-billing is another scam. Charge, charge, charge even after you leave giving them their 30 day required notice. The blonde at the front is nasty and abusive toward her money train customers. Save yourself the aggravation look elsewhere for these services. read more

I purchased two Groupon offers: (1) two open skate passes/with rental and (2) 4 weeks of ice skating lessons. The child I purchased the lessons for no longer wanted to take lessons and when we used the open skate Groupon, I spoke to Michelle and requested the $35.00 purchase amount be used for another service. The Groupon voucher specifically said that the purchase amount could be used for another service offered by the vendor. After numerous phone calls which started with Michelle saying she would apply the $35 to an open skate to her rescinding the offer after allegedly speaking to Groupon, I contacted Groupon and had the purchase amount refunded. Any business that works with parents who are trying to expose their kids to as many activities as possible to encourage interest should be more willing and open to modifying offers. If Groupon was not amenable to Midwest Training Center using the $35 toward another service, why was it printed on the front of the voucher? Thanks to Jacqueline at Groupon who promptly refunded our money so that we can use this towards another program where the vendor is more willing to work with us. Offering programs through Groupon comes with a bunch of free advertising and in this case, it appears that the cost of the advertising was not worth providing the best customer service. Midwest Training Center has permanently lost our business and we will not recommend to our friends. read more
