Never experienced such terrible customer service before in my life. My husband and I went in to buy a new gun. While filling out the paperwork, my husband and I did not realize we weren't allowed to speak to each other. The man helping us yelled at my husband and told him to "shut up" several times in a row before telling us he would kick us out of the store if my husband didn't "shut his mouth". We're in our 60's and have never been spoken to that way. There were several people standing around and heard this. It was embarrassing and we were appalled when we left there. We will never go back there and I hope others who read this consider taking their business somewhere else. read more

OK OK. I have to set the record straight and everyone has to take a deep breath on here about these guys. My wife and I went in on very snowy night. Place was dead. You can't go in to any store and demand instant service, well, just cause you're you I guess. But we did get instant service. We purposefully chose not to go in on a Saturday morning. I don't know much about guns, my wife even less. They were VERY patient with me. A younger fellow, larger, a bit shy almost, dealt with my constant onslaught of questions and to see different guns. I asked for opinions and he gave them. I asked to hold a lot of guns, and for him to look for other guns not on the shelf. He did. With what appeared to be a genuine smile. Furthermore, their prices on the guns we were looking at are right in line with everyone else, and even a little less than some brick and mortar stores. Fun fact, in Wisconsin, ALL indoor ranges are cold in winter. Thats why we wear jackets and hats. Reloading is a niche like it or not. A business can't cater solely to reloaders. Not sure everyone that wrestles pigs is a barbaric caveman. Sure, it seems a little silly and nothing I would ever want to do... But the guys are right in there experiencing the exact same conditions as the pigs. Can't be too too bad. Lastly, this was the only shop in SE Wisconsin that had the full array of a particular model in the size and revision of guns we wanted. We were able to hold all of them for quite some time. The staff was much much more personable than anyone at Cabelas, not once did they try to push some card on me or just stand there and stare. The only better place was the little Ace Hardware in Ootsburg, but their stock was limited. At any rate, we went in to buy guns, not make friends. We left very happy with two awesome guns and some ammo. I can't wait to go back, and I'll recommend this place to anyone over most others around hands down. read more

As a Memphis gun nut, the range situation in Wisconsin has been disappointing. This place seemed to be the closest indoor range (pistol only, though) to Oshkosh (a mere 30 minutes away), so the boyfriend and I decided to check it out. The website doesn't list much information, so I called ahead and got prices ($12/hour, plus $6 for a second person on the lane) and made a reservation (a good idea, according to the lady I talked to). We had to sign the usual waivers, paid our fees, collected our targets, and headed in. The range only has 5 lanes, and appears to be in an unheated part of the building -- it was cold! The target system is pretty basic, just some clips on a string with a switch to send it out and bring it back. I think the walls are metal, which might explain the terrible echo. If you're at all sensitive to noise, I'd double up on hearing protection. Also, there's no supervision by store personnel (aside from security cameras), so if you don't know what you're doing, this might not be the place for you. I personally don't like people loading mags or handling guns outside of the stall, especially when you're clearly inexperienced and have your finger on the trigger... We talked to a guy who turned out to be an instructor, and he told us about the classes they offer. However, it's mostly the NRA basic course, with very few other or advanced classes, so as a veteran of quite a number of self defense classes, I don't know that I'd take anything here -- I know how to safely handle a gun, load, etc. Overall, it was ok. It was a range, it did the job, I was able to practice my marksmanship. I'm not excited to go back, but so far it's the best option I've got. read more

This is a huge store and has a ton of firearms, accessories, taxidermy mounts, decent ammo selection, safes, cases, etc. Its the biggest in the area and worth a visit. No store can carry everything you would want, but there is a lot to choose from here. Good people. Good selection. The indoor range is good and the only one in the area. No place is perfect.....but hey, Midwest Shooters is fun to visit and a good store to buy from. Not sure why so many negative reviews? Snowflakes maybe? Lol read more

Not worth the drive. Reloading selection is lacking. Only 3-4 boxes of Berger bullets total. Very poor powder selection. Average selection of firearms. Poor customer service. Stood at the desk for 5 minutes waiting for guys to end personal conversations when finally a guy walked over, looked me in the eye...and walked away. Meh, no thanks. Left the few small items I have. If they think you are doing business with anyone else their response to helping you is we don't have time to help you "We make 50% off what we sale and if you buy from someone else we lose that." I have never been to a place where they had so many employees and not one of them knew the first rule to customer service. "Welcome! My name is _______can I help you with anything?" I asked one guy if they had 303 ammo to which he replied: "yea there should be some back there." You have to be kidding me! Get up off your butt and take the person to the ammo. I was looking for a 300 win mag. so I stopped to talk to the Guys at Midwest. They seemed very knowledgeable and helped me pick out they called a very high end top of the line factory rifle $1500.00. It was a Sako 85 in 300 win mag. I used their advice and went with Sako ring bases and an extra clip also pricey $265.00. I put a Leupold VX6 scope on it $1000.00. I was now set with what i thought was my dream rifle getting ready to head out west on an elk hunt. Went to sight the gun in and found when I ejected the shells they hit the scope and, bounced back into the chamber, not allowing me to feed a new shell into the gun. I could not believe it, must be something wrong with the gun right? Took it back to Midwest to see what the problem was. To my surprise they told me it was a known problem with the rifle and there was NOTHING!!!! They would do about it. After some discussion with them on it, and them doing nothing for me about it, the last words out of them when I left with what I consider a useless $2765.00 rifle set up was . I have purchased a handgun and shotgun from this store over the past year. The staff has been very responsive immediately when I arrived and extremely helpful. It is obvious to me they know their products very well. We were purchasing a shotgun for my wife and the salesperson presented several options for us, allowing us to find exactly what we were looking for. Their selection and inventory is outstanding. Our salesperson was also very helpful regarding reloading supplies and bulk shotgun ammunition. They are my dealer of choice, and I drove 60 miles to get there after a recommendation from a friend. read more

First time in the store with about as simple a shopping list as one might have -- 2 boxes each of CCI small and large pistol primers -- Here's how it went: First, the obvious question was "who laid out this floor plan, and what was he thinking?" Seriously! You can't simply walk in and go to the reloading supplies. Then, the primers aren't on a shelf among the powder, bullets and ammunition, they are behind the counter, so you have to walk to the end of the store, around the central counter, and back to mid-store. By then, th salesman who was "helping" you is gone. Enter salesman number two, a nice enough person who seems confused by having to process so many items. Ten minutes into my shopping trip, the sales staff has found the large pistol primers ("No, standard, not magnum...et seq). That's it. I paid for the two boxes and drove a few miles further south and picked up the small primers at Cabela's. My recommendation regarding Midwestern? Just drive on by. read more
