After a growing frustration with it, then checking both Next Door and Yelp, I decided to call Ricardo. (I had researched separately and had come to the same conclusion.) Ricardo added that in his experience, the aftermarket replacement parts are not the same quality and have been problematic. I contacted this appliance repair, based on Yelp's recommendation. My phone call was returned promptly. The technicians were finishing a call nearby, and could come after. How amazing, to have a technician at your door within the hour. My 4 year old GE washer had numerous error codes. Seems they are known for this. The repair is nearly the cost of a new machine. I decided not to repair the washer. The technician cleared the errors, and said to see how it goes. I asked what washing machines he recommends, for durability: Speed Queen (expensive), Maytag, Amana, Whirlpool. He said used are good, but buy from an appliance store, with a warranty. A year ago, I messaged Ricardo and two other appliance repair companies through Yelp to help me fix my refrigerator. The refrigerator was not getting cold enough, but the freezer was staying cold. He was the only one who responded, but at a reasonable price. I was able to make an appointment right away. He assessed my fridge very quickly, but needed to run to buy a new fan. In the meantime, he let me try out his contractor grade steam cleaner to melt the ice around the old fan, clean the freezer, and even clean the grime behind my fridge. He came back almost too soon (I was having too much fun with the steam cleaner) and quickly fixed the fan. My kitchen was clean and put back together when he was done. A bit later, I can't remember if it was an hour or more, I was concerned that the new fan wasn't adequate. I texted him and he responded right away. He had other calls and couldn't return, but he let me know what to look out for. It turned out that the refrigerator had just needed a little more time and Ricardo didn't need to return. Now, it's a year later and the refrigerator is still working great. My fingers are crossed that we won't need him to come back for this or another appliance, but I'll definitely call him if we do.
