The restaurant only has inside seating. We prefer to eat outside facing the lagoon. That being said, the restaurant is a nice looking place and our sashimi and nigiri were fresh and excellent. Mikado is a convenient place to eat if you're staying at the either of the Marriott hotels. My family and I ate here for the second time during our most recent vacation to Cancun and we were not disappointed! The staff here was very friendly and the restaurant itself is relatively big. Our chef was very entertaining and the food was quite tasty. He was able to complete a few tricks that were pretty impressive too! We went to Mikado last night for a change of pace while here in Cancun. It is located in the Marriott CasaMagna on the Hotel Zone. Easy to get to and at least night reservations would not have been needed, though anytime they are offered, I try to make them and I love they are available on Open Table. Mixed seating is wonderful when you are vacation as you get to find out what tours are good, what other restaurants have been tried, and where others are visiting from. The bartended was very friendly and mixed a great martini. The chef at the table worked hard to entertain us and our table was more reactive than most. I ordered the filet and shrimp with fried rice, while my husband ordered lobster and shrimp. A guest asked where the shrimp was from and was told it was from the Caribbean, not farmed in Thailand of which she feared. It was good size and very flavorful. The restaurant's sauces were rich and tangy. Their fried rice was plentiful and delicious. The veggies were crisp, done perfectly. The seasoning included local flavors which made them interesting. Pricing was average. Highly recommend. IMPORTANT: they have independent seating and a full Japanese menu that should be explored on another visit. read more

Wanted a sushi restaurant that wasn't cheap, but not overpriced to the point of just being overpriced. We got to the restaurant and ordered a few simple things not expecting much but found the sushi to be extremely fresh, tasty, and down right delicious!!! Service was impeccable! I told them it was my birthday in less than 2 weeks and they surprised me with a lovely birthday dessert and had the entire staff sing me happy birthday. The best part, check came and it was beyond reasonable to half of what we thought it would be. Great experience! We will be back! read more

A very nice, convenient Japanese restaurant located at the Marriott CasaMagna. The rolls are good and the ginger brownie was different and delicious although I wish it was bigger. It was really small, about the size of a couple tubes of chapstick. The service was quick and friendly, but they were not busy at the time I went. Nothing super amazing. If you're really in need of some decent sushi or other Japanese food and you're staying at the CasaMagna or any nearby hotel, you can easily go here. read more

The food is bad and expensive. We had two rolls and two ramens. The rolls tasted weird (the combination of sauces/ingredients was off) and the ramen bowls were super super small (4 ounces) for $8. We came here because we had nothing to eat at the hotel and regret it completely. read more

Absolutely horrible sushi!!! We have now been sick for two days since we ate at this restaurant. Probably should have known looking at the nonexistent colour on the fish - the sushi rolls were the worst sushi we have ever eaten. Fish was not fresh and does not look anything like the pictures. Nor does it taste good. We thought it was a joke when we got the sushi served at our table as it did not look good nor did it taste everything like fresh sushi. We left feeling more hungry than when we first got there. And we have now been sick for two days - if that's what you want for your vacation, then go. Otherwise stay far away from this place!!! read more

Mauro sashimi was dry ( how do you manage that?), salmon sashimi ok but not impressive. The avocado and eel sushi roll was 85% rice. I ate at the bar, may be the hibachi table would have need better. I will probably never find out. read more

It was our first time to Cancun and on our last night before leaving we went to Mikado. Jorge made it enjoyable for our family and what a nice guy! Food was better than other Mikado"s we've been to in the US. read more

Really bad service. We wait for at least an hour, 30 for the food to be served, another 30 for the bill. Plus the satay they brought up is cold, and all they did is smile and try to cover it . Don't recommend this if you want a good dinner. read more

Excellent service. Food comes in huge portions compared to other teppanyaki or habachi grills. I ordered lobster with fried rice. My husband ordered filet mignon and fried rice. We were also given free appetizer (vegetable egg rolls) because my husband is a Marriott Gold Elite. The chef was very entertaining and service was exceptional. read more

Unfortunately we started off by looking at their menu online which was from 2014, so the prices were outdated and much lower than the prices for 2017. We were staying at the Casa Magna so wanted to use some of our room credit for dinner. Unfortunately, we paid a lot and left relatively hungry. mikado is the best. on a 9 night stay in cancun, we ate the sashimi (yellow tail, tuna, and salmon) on 6. each time was fantastic. the thick cuts of salmon and yellow tail are among the best i've had -- ever -- and reasonably priced. the service is excellent, especially alberto and norvella, who were our charming and capable servers each night. we miss mikado and will be back! read more
