Say what you want to say about Vision, but every club works that way, and if you don't want politics, i would recommend a recreational team that is less competitive. In some ways though, I must agree with the other reviewers, it is difficult to find yourself with a spot on the team without connections to the club, as it is HIGHLY selective. As for the actual season, as a player, i loved playing for Vision, though it had its down sides. The Vision community is friendly and I was surrounded, for the most part, by nice and encouraging people. But, It was very clear at the beginning of the season that if you wanted a starting position on the court, you needed to work for it, which is fair, but as a player in the 12-15 age range, it was not always fair that the same kids were on the court, even though I started the whole season. I believe my family got their money's worth from me playing, but many girls on the team couldn't say the same because of their lack of play time. I feel that as a young team, we all should have had a chance to develop. In sum, no matter what this season brought, I enjoyed my team experience this year and will definitely find myself at tryouts next year.

They excel at teaching the foundations of volleyball literally step by step. The camps are broken down into specific parts of volleyball - like hitting, offense, serve/pass, etc. Even if your child has played for a while she will learn and dramatically improve from taking their camps. Even though my daughter plays liberó she took the other parts and it has made her a better volleyball player overall. The only downside to the camp is that the coaches are not friendly. They are serious business from start to finish. I've put her in camps at different places and the camps are serious but the coaches are friendly and positive. Here you'll get none of that. They are machines and they will drill a particular step over and over with no smiles or positivity. Also, if your daughter isn't used to hard core conditioning or long practices limit the camps you sign up because your daughter will get a work out. My daughter is obsessed with volleyball and practices on her own as well as does conditioning, running, practice 4 times a week. She would come home dripping in sweat. She loved it but not all kids looked happy walking out. They looked exhausted. Regardless, I highly recommend the camps. TRYOUTS- 1 star or less (negative 1000 aura per my daughter) I wasn't familiar with Vision at all. I decided to sign her up for tryouts and thought it was going to be like other teams where they actually try you out and evaluate you. The key thing to know is that the TEAMS ARE SET BEFORE TRYOUT. I didn't know this. They usually are looking for one or two players (this year 2025 outside or middle only). So there were probably 70 girls (or more) and they wanted 2. The girls get very little play time and cycle in and out so there isn't a chance for your daughter to really be evaluated. It is chaotic. Also don't assume that because you took a camp that they would even know your daughter or that it would give her a chance. I found out that they do private camps, had 98% of the teams set, they had talked to parents and player well before tryouts and at tryouts, and that if you didn't hear from them at practice, tryout, or within 24 hours then you didn't get in. They also only want tall girls. If your child isn't over 5'7 don't bother to tryout. Just facts- these Vision girls are giants. If your daughter isn't vertically blessed then pass on tryout. Finally they ghost after tryout. Not only was the tryout chaotic but they didn't send out an email or anything notifying your daughter that she didn't get on the team. If they have the teams set already it would be simple to send out a mass email to everyone else (all 68 girls) saying " great job at tryout but we can't accept you on a team this year." Even a simple sentence like that would be good so that your daughter could tryout for another team or accept an offer they have gotten. The waiting game hurts their ability to move on to another team. It's a courtesy and they could automate it so not sure why they ghost. Very unprofessional and not a good business model. This leads me to think the tryout is a money maker for them. What I don't understand is that if they have 70 girls trying out why not add a few more teams. This is a business and they would make money on that too. Just beware of all this before you sign up for tryouts. Had this been disclosed up front then you can make an informed decision to tryout or not. Seriously - if they had said we need an outside and middle then I would have had my daughter tryout elsewhere bc she is Libero so there was no chance before she even started the tryout. All tryouts for 15+ are same day in July for all teams everywhere so she could have tried out elsewhere had all of this been disclosed. They need more disclosure up front and probably need to improve their business model.

He decided he wanted to learn and play basketball, so he tried out for his high school junior varsity basketball team. My husband and I knew he wouldn't make the team because he didn't know basketball fundamentals. We encouraged him to try out anyway because he would see the skills the other players had, so he'd understand what he needed to learn to make the team next time. Like we suspected, he was dropped after the first cut. At this point, he wanted to learn to play basketball, so I searched the internet. There was only one league that started right away. I guess most leagues don't start until after the high school basketball season is over. My son joined this league: Mike Allen Sports. He learned basic basketball skills from Coach Allen, Coach G (retired Sacramento Kings player), and Coach Luis. Coach Allen taught him how to move as a "big" man; Coach G taught him to be more aggressive; and Coach Luis taught him how to dribble. Coach Allen evaluated all the players to make the skill level even for every team. My son's team did well; they were undefeated. The team lost the Championship game, so they were 2nd overall; not bad for the first time out. My son joined the Ballin3 Ambassador AAU travel team with Coach Allen. The team only won one game, but as Coach Allen says, "It's not about winning, it's about getting the experience." He's right, my son learned so much from Coach Allen, Coach G, and Coach Luis. Thank you. Now, my son is going to open gym at his high school. Wow; what a difference! He moves well on the court, shares the ball, and scores points. He has a good chance of making the high school varsity basketball team.

It's been a major handicap and disappoint to the few kids on the team they know the game and feel defeated. Why not run a draft system? No, they would be able to buddy up but at least you would have more evenly matched teams and some real competitive games instead of the same teams slaughtering everyone other every weekend? Why would she even force herself into our conversation in the first place? My son Ethyn enjoyed his 1st free practice so much that we immediately signed up. During our 1st Spring season , we got to k ow the other parents and coaches on the team. Everyone is beyond helpful and friendly. We would hang out after basketball practices and games. Both kids and adults have bonded, so much so that my older son Ayden has also joined the team. Ayden had lost his passion for basketball and didn't want to play, but after being around the boys on the team, he wanted to be a part of the fun too. SBME is more than Basketball! Your kids will have a great time in a competitive learning environment. Practices are well organized and teaches the kids fundamental skill sets to succeed. The team compete at a high level. We don't win all the tournaments but we do win a lot of them. Join, you would enjoy the experience just as much as your kids : )

There's variety of schedules, tournaments, leagues (NCVA, AAU, Inter club, etc), coaches, and costs across all options. The good news is there's TON of options in the South Bay. The bad news is that ALL of them require a level of commitment that you have to be ready for. For us, this commitment came in the form of money, and giving up certain family activities to make room for a somewhat demanding schedule that you can't really miss days for (most clubs practice 2-3 a week and include a weekend day). The tryout process at Titan was fun and quite upbeat. Of all the places we tried, this club had music and super cheering coaches and volunteers. It was the best energy of them all. They offer 3 levels: Local, Travel, and select. Select is where the best players go and the tournament schedule includes a bigger regional event at the end of the season. Premier Travel includes some regional events. Local does not require driving or traveling more than an hour away. Season goes from December to May. Highly recommended if your girl has intermediate or basic skills and wants to improve her game without stress. Seems well priced compared to other clubs around. The tryout process started with a friendly greeting at the check in table where someone explained the welcome process. Then they gave you a number to pin tot he back of your shirt. Tryout consisted of general skill assessment as well as a couple of informal games towards the end. They seemed to have divided the girls into best skills, intermediate skills, smaller kids for U12. I counted about 36-38 girls for older group but only 10 girls for the U12 group. Right at the end of the tryout they posted the lineups and offers right outside the gym. The offer is basically an announcement to you of which team your daughter made with a 48hour period to think about it and decide. You then have to accept or reject the offer. If you accept, your spot in the team is reserved, but if you reject, you give up your spot so that someone in the waiting list gets an opportunity to participate. For the team we were trying (U12), every girl was offered a spot except for one. It's more competitive for older girls. Location is centric for people who live in San Jose / Campbell / Cupertino Area. Overall, my daughter had lots of fun and enjoyed her time during tryouts. The coaches here seem dedicated, fun, caring, and passionate about the sport. The level of coaches seems lower compared to other clubs that are more competitive around the Bay Area. But it seems like a good place to learn without the stress of other competitive clubs. I strongly recommend to try multiple clubs so you get a better sense of the differences in levels, coaches, facilities, schedule, etc. Good luck!
