First time ever trying this place after living in the area for 20 years. Nate is a very nice guy but is in the wrong business. My haircuts usually take 20-30 minutes at most, even if I tell them I want it shorter. Nate took a half hour just on the back of my head. He worked so slow. If you want a good haircut and don't want it to take an hour, get one of the other barbers. I was in the chair for a few minutes over an hour. Not cool. Hopefully, he gets better and faster. read more

Top notch service! I had problems scheduling a haircut with my usual barber in Ontario, CA, and while on a weekend getaway, decided to take a chance on a barber up in Morro Bay. After figuring out the app, and scheduling a haircut, I was lined up for a cut. I had ran into this Morro Bay location at the annual car show after walking in to see if they had a shirt for sale. The "Mikes Barber Shop Since 1941" hit a patriotic nerve. So I bought the shirt. That was a year ago. Now I was actually getting a cut. I scheduled with Morgan. I just got my hair cut by Depeche at this shop. I'm here on vacation and needed a haircut. Came across this shop by chance and I'm glad I did. They don't take walk-ins but you can make an appointment on their website. I made one for 30 minutes out from when I discovered Mike's. Depeche is thorough and artful as well as very skilled. I don't trust many to do a fade, but for a reasonable price of around $40 these guys can hook it up with a clean face and they even throw in a razor trim to clean up the edges around the back of the neck. Walked in and 4 people were waiting. I grabbed a magazine after looking at all the old morro bay pictures and bamboo antique fishing poles. While I was waiting I got to watch a real straight razor shave! Before I knew it I was in the chair. Awesome music was playing, mostly older but a nice mix. But most importantly I probably got one of the best haircuts of my life. Everything was perfect, they even shaved my neck at the end at no extra charge. I've been coming here for a little over 2 years now. This is hands down the best cut I've ever gotten every single time! I got my hair cut by Jon, the owner, today. He cut my hair really well! Definitely no complaints here. I either go to Jerry or Jon. Jerry does a killer fade. I would go here over a salon any day! I have to admit I was a little nervous going to a barber shop at first, but nobody has ever made me feel uncomfortable. Everyone is so nice and chill. You can even grab a beer on ice while waiting. I grew up in a small town that only had one barber. You got a great haircut from a local guy who knew the town and new his craft. This place is just like that. No ridiculousness, just solid quality haircuts. On top of that, you get a few extras that I haven't found at other places. I've had straight razor shave for the back of my neck and my eyebrows and ears are taken care of as well. On occasion, I've had my beard trimmed and they handle that perfectly as well. Went in for a cut a few weeks ago. Went from super long to super short. Had a great time, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and after an easy and pretty quick conversation decided on a style. I was really happy with it the day of and still very happy more than two weeks post haircut. My wife also thought I looked very attractive, always a plus. Great barber shop in Morro Bay. One of THEE best in SLO County. The barbers are very knowledgeable in their craft. Super nice guys. The shop is next to PizzaPort downtown. There's plenty of parking around the shop. I believe they open at 9am on most days. Check them out! You won't be disappointed! My wife has been coming here for 4 years to get her haircut short. They are very friendly and she feels super comfortable going into this barber shop for her haircuts. Everyone knows you by name. The shop has been in operating for many years and the owner is heavily involved in community activities. They have two other locations, North MB and SLO at the Barrel House top level speak easy. Always walk by Mikes when we are in Morro Bay, but have never given it a try. Well my son needed a hair cut and I guess today is as good a day as any. The shop itself is very small with only 2 barber chairs, but that is perfect for that old school barber shop feel. The walls are decorated with all kinds of stuff to keep your eyes moving all around the place. We waited our turn and when it was time the young man who was going to cut my son's hair was totally awesome. He treated my boy like he was one of the guys. He got him up in the chair asked him how he wanted his hair cut and then had a great conversation that my boy really enjoyed. When he was done cutting my son's hair, which I have to say was one of the best hair cuts I have seen, he told my boy how well he had done, gave him a lolly pop, and even let me take a picture of him and my son. The whole experience was so cool and my son asked me if he can get his hair cut at Mikes ever time we are in Morro Bay and I have to say that is a great idea. read more

I'm in town visiting and saw the great reviews here. I don't know if I caught this guy on an off day or what. But I got my hair cut my a dude here with long curly hair. I asked for a mid fade and it looks nothing like a fade. It doesn't even look like a taper. The dude just kind of shaved the sides of my head with like a 1. He proceeded to then cut the top of my head in a way that made my comb over crooked af. I'm amazed he even charged me for this. Tldr: don't let the guy with long curly hair touch your head. Unless your trying to wear hats for the next couple weeks Edit: I would add pics but honestly It's to embarrassing Edit2: The owner got in touch and offered to get my hair fixed. The other barber who works in slo did pretty good job at fixing my hair considering what he had to work with. They were both really cool through the whole process. read more
