Mike's great reviews swayed me to using him. And the reviews turned out to be a great overview on how good he really is. Some said he was great to work with and down to earth. Easy to talk to and get along with. All true. But more than that he performed above my expectations. And my expectations were high because of the reviews. He has all the equipment needed. Talented and hardworking crew members. It's like a 'well oiled' machine. Kinda like a symphony to watch them work. They came when they said they would. They got to it right away and got it done in a very timely fashion. And, I must admit that I was really surprised how nicely they cleaned up when finished. They left our yard cleaner than we they got here. We had a large silver maple totally taken out. The stump is just over 4' in diameter. Must have been 50+ feet high. And we had two large branched in an ash tree to remove. Another silver maple we had them trim it up and it looks great. The last tree was a sickly evergreen about 35-40' tall. That one took them no time at all. So that is a total of 4 trees they worked on. I 'highly' recommend Mike's Dirtworks. Mike, the owner, is a great guy and one hardworking guy. Excellent work and price. Mike was detailed in what work he would complete and everything he promised, he delivered. We had two large trees in our fenced backyard. Both trees were near fences and a deck, they did a great job at bringing down these trees and avoiding any damages to the fences or deck. His team worked very quickly and the clean up was very thorough. When he left, they placed a lot of dark dirt over the area and it was as if the trees were never there. Mike and his Team came to remove a very large cottonweed tree from our yard back on August 3rd. Being that the tree was so large, my husband called many tree removal services prior to choosing one. We wanted to find a company that was two things: 1) Cost effective and 2) Safe. The tree towered over our house, and many of our neighbors houses/fences. Mike offered us a great price and seemed like a very genuine man to work with so we ultimately ended up choosing him. He and his team were very effective and quick in removing our tree over the span of two days. Unfortunately, they did not finish removing the 8-10 foot stump we now have left in our yard. We had asked Mike to leave around 3-4 feet of the stump as my father-in-law has a dream of building a treehouse out of it for our son. We conveyed this to Mike many times. We were watching the team as they were finishing up and noticed they were starting to clean up, but there was still about 8-10 feet of stump left. We went outside to talk to Mike to remind him that we needed the stump cut down much further than how they currently had it. Mike informed us that their trailer was already full of tree debris and promised to come back another day to finish. We noticed he and his team in a neighbor's yard the following day removing some of their branches, but they failed to come back to our house. This was 6 months ago. I have talked to Mike at least 7 times since then and he has continued to promise that they will come back when they are in town. I spoke to him in November, and he assured me that they worked throughout the winter, and that he would come back in December or January. Is it now January 24th, and we still have a giant stump in our back yard. I just called Mike and he once again assured me that he and his team would stop by "soon". This time, seeing as though I have heard the same promise over and over again, I put a little more pressure on him to tell me WHEN they were coming. He told me they cannot work when it is this cold. Though believable, I'm still confused since he had previously assured me they worked all throughout the winter. I told him this needs to get taken care of ASAP, as it is not fair to us, or our neighbors, to have to look at this horrible 8-10 foot stump in the back of our yard every day. Furthermore, we paid him to remove the tree and stump, and did not get what we paid for. I informed Mike that we have been waiting for half a year at this point, and he sarcastically said "well, why don't we wait a full year and then we can celebrate the anniversary of when the tree first came down." Wow. He also tried to tell me that we had originally asked for them to leave 8-10 foot of stump....NO, we did not. We would have NEVER asked for that. He then went on to tell me that with diesel prices going up so high, they needed to wait and make their trek down here when they had more business, as they don't want to drive to our area just for the one stump. Again, this makes sense, except for the fact that we have been waiting for 6 months to have this massive stump removed. So, quite frankly, it is not our problem that gas prices are high. This should have been taken care of months ago. I have been giving Mike the benefit of the doubt for a long time now. In a world that has gotten so crazy and mean, the last thing I want to do is report this. But - enough is enough. We didn't get what we paid for, we have been nothing but understanding and forgiving for 6 months, and then he has the audacity to be rude and sarcastic to me on the phone today. I truly hope that he comes with his team to finally take down our stump, and hopefully we can move past this. read more
