I had a very disappointing experience with Mike Marine. When I initially spoke with Bryan, I was assured that he was an authorized Evinrude mechanic, which gave me confidence to move forward with the repair. I dropped off my lower unit for installation, expecting professional service. After several days, I found out they didn't even have the proper software to calibrate my actuator--something that should be basic for a shop claiming Evinrude expertise. That was already a red flag. It got worse after I took my boat home. When I tilted the engine up, oil poured out of the motor, indicating that something was clearly mishandled or improperly reassembled. Overall, this experience left me feeling like they lack the necessary tools, knowledge, and attention to detail to perform reliable work. I would not recommend this shop if you want your boat serviced correctly. The boat was dirty. The cables were hanging. Now I have to take my boat to some other shops. read more

I brought my 2005 open bow boat in for the rubber bellows to be replaced since it was leaking out drive oil. I brought it to them the first time and was charged $1625. I bought it home after it was said to be repaired and over night it leaked again. I took it back a third time and was then quoted $30000 to $3700. Needles to say I went and picked it up in pieces and bought it back home. My neighbor came over and looked at it. We took it apart and found the 4" O- ring was flat instead of round which didn't create the seal it was intended to. We replaced that O-ring and found another O-ring missing all together. We were able to fix the issue for $100 dollars. Don't go to this place as I'm very disappointed and dissatisfied with their work and ethics. read more

I have a classic Cole outboard, it is an older boat. I had some trouble with the outboard idling too fast. I called all around Sacramento and could not find anyone to even look at it for months. Mikes Marine had an appointment the next week, I took it in on a Tuesday, and it was fixed and ready to go by Thursday. We were able to go boating over the weekend! +Even whinny people can be honest.....I paid Mike Marine to replace a quicksilver throttle on my 1998 20" Cobalt. He put it on, that is about all he did. The throttle position was loose and out of position (basically in-operable. To place that boat in the water would be a danger to navigate....I would have been ok if he said it was a job that he could not or did not want to complete. As I paid him online (even gave him a bonus) I consider it my fault that I did not check the work before I paid him as I live in Pacifica, Ca and my boat was in Walnut Grove. I have since taken my boat to "Family Marine" in Suisun to have the work completed properly....I am extremely disappointed at myself as well as Mike Marine.......I should be refunded but his shit attitude makes me just take the situation at its face value to keep me from being retaliatory. read more

Mike worked on our 95 Reinell (170 BRXL). He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable over the phone and in person. He didn't try to upsell or sugarcoat anything. Gave us a quote for a brand new Merc drive and installed it in a very reasonable amount of time. He gave us his word that she'd be running great and is ready for the water. He said that when he works on boats that he works on them as if it were his own and that he didn't want to see us back at his shop (Hahaa!!)...meaning, the job is done right the first time! This place is the worst boat repair shop ive ever been too in my life!! First i took my boat there and ordered a stering Kit.......when the kit came it was WRONG!! Then i payed for him to qoute me on a repair for my boat........ He told me that i had to lift my entire engine block out the boat and buy new engine mounts in order to fix the problem..... Um im no boat expert but i knew what he was telling me was freakin bullcrap..... So i left and took my boat to GT boats and told him that "Mikes marina" said i need to pull my engine out and before i could even finish my sentence the guy was like " what?? no no no that is NOT what you need to do who the hell told you that" i told him mikes marine and he said :" really? are you sure thats what he said because that sounds crazy unnessery". i said ya thats what they told me no joke...... The guy at GT boats told me in no way did i need to pull the engine out and that he could fix the problem for 100 bucks out the door...... LOL mikes marine tryed to get me to pay 1000's of dollars for a 100 dallor repair lol can you believe that?? no way ill never go back ever again..... oK i warned my buddy about this place but since he works accross the street he said he was just going to go there anyways.....so he went there orderd some parts and waited a week to get them..... guess what?? parts where wrong OF COURSE....then he had to go back and return them...... i asked him " so now do you beleive me" he said " ya i should have listened to you i wasted a week waiting for those parts and then ended up having to go someplace esle then wait again for the parts lol......" i said "ya see if you just had listened to me you would have saved yourself some hassle i know i already been there done that with these guys and ill WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK....WORST boat repar place ive ever been too........EVER!!!" Mike's Marine took my boat in on short notice, and performed repairs that were well explained, necessary, timely, and with fair pricing. I have nothing negative to say about this shop. Extremely disappointed with this business and would encourage you to take your business elsewhere. The owner of this shop made it very clear to me, he has no intention of taking any responsibility or saving face for his sub parr work. I brought him a jet boat that had been sitting for some time. Asked him to drain fuel, get motor running and check to make sure Jet is performing ok so that I can sell the boat. He wouldn't rebuild the carburetor, so I picked it up, and had it rebuilt somewhere else. Took the boat back. He called and told me boat and jet were running good and it was ready. (Billed me 3 hours labor). I sold the boat a few weeks later with receipt that it was serviced and ready to go. When my buyer put it in the water it wouldn't start. After 45 minutes of trying it finally fired up but wouldn't run for more than a few seconds. Furthermore the jet drive trim had no power to it. Low oil light kept coming on, and water was coming out of the intake. (Obviously wasn't function checked). When I called Mike, he dismissed me with no apology or solution. Told me that it's not his responsibility to check everything and that it wouldn't have left his shop not running (The nerve). Then proceeded to tell me that the carburetor was bad and was $1000 to replace? The conversation ended with him swearing at me and hanging up. I wasted almost $1000 total with nothing fixed except 2 new batteries. Today I refunded $11,000 to the buyer and like a good business owner, I bought him diner as well for the embarrassing inconvenience. I'm so upset over this!!! My opinion of this man is that he treats his customers and work as a burden to him and frankly doesn't seem to care one bit about it. He only wants to do quick, easy work and nothing more. Damm shame cause there isn't a lot of boat shops around here. Probably why he is still in business. read more

Worst experience ever, please avoid these guys at all cost. Took our boat that ran perfectly fine there to have a tune up and to put in an automatic bilge pump. After paying $1000, which seemed pretty steep, we took our boat out to see how it ran after the "tune-up". You can imagine our shock when the motor blew up. Apparently these "professionals" leaned the motor out too much which burned a hole in the piston. All they were supposed to do was change out spark plugs etc. Of course we called to see how they planned to right the wrong, they told us they had a motor that wasn't as good as the one we had previously had, but hey our boat would at least go. When push came to shove they backed out and said that they didn't have a motor after all. Now they don't remember doing anything wrong or even servicing our boat for that matter, funny we still have the invoice. Please save yourself the frustration and money and go somewhere else! Talk about fixing it til it's broke. read more

This repair goes back awhile, but by far the worst experience I have ever had. I won't go into all the various issues. Most glaring thing they did was to paint my carburetor, tell me it was new and charge me for it. My only resolve was to take them to small claims court, which they strung out to inconvenience me. The 3rd time I had to go back the judge had no problem finding on my behalf. I would certainly look elsewhere! read more
