After I was left with a botched unfinished job by the mechanic from the boatyard I was having some major work done in, Franco Marine came in, took the mess that was left, and made everything work just as it should. No one wanted this mess, but Franco Marine didn't even hesitate. He was also booked out more than a month, and told me he'd figure out a way to squeeze me in. Less than a week later on a Sunday, he came out and met me at the boat, did what he could for about 4 hours, got a list of parts and part numbers to complete the job, and came back a week later with the parts he ordered, and got my boat back in action. I'm very happy with how knowledgeable, and prepared with the right specialty tools, to get the job done, and how determined he was to get everything done right! When I say that the wiring on my boat was a mess, that's a major understatement. Previous Mechanic said I needed a new wiring harness, after calling me every week to tell me they needed to replace another 5 wires, and it was going to be another $1,000.... yah that crap.... then ordered the wrong wiring harness, halfway installed it, couldn't figure out how to finish the install, most of what was done, was done wrong, and the other half was just a mess of wires not connected to anything. Being that it was the wrong harness, there was about 10 extra wires with no place to go, and other necessary wires, missing from the harness altogether. He patiently studied the situation, did some research, traced every wire from beginning to end, figured everything out, and things that hadn't worked since I bought the boat, are now working as designed, and my engine is running great! I can't thank him enough for his help! If I could give him 10 stars I would, he certainly deserves it!

American Star Marine - Not many people can work on these vintage motors but Jacques seemed to know it inside and out

Finding a boat mechanic, like any other mechanic is very difficult to do. I've been to multiple…read moredifferent mechanics, either to a shop or an mobile service. American Star Marine has been the first and only shop to be straight forward with me regarding my Merc. The services that I have received have always been top notch. Turnaround time is extremely fast for a shop this size. I drive from San Jose to have my boat serviced and worked on because I know Jacques will take great care of my motor. Highly recommend. If you want an honest person to work on your boat, go to American Star Marine.

On start-up at home, I thought it needed add'l adjustment when cold and he suggested to meet the next morning at the dock, where he made a few adjustments. The boat is starting and running better than it has in years. I was able to get service quickly, on a stubborn problem I've dealt and couldn't fix myself which is now corrected, at a very reasonable price. I'm a happy customer and I can say he really knows his stuff and I'll follow his advice on running the boat, prop pitch/type and even fuel additives.
