Used him to store our boat for a few years without a problem. Would ask for minor repairs to be done and they weren't, always with an excuse of not enough time. He'd always yell when called in the spring to schedule boat returned. The last time we used him, spring 2024, the boat was returned in exactly the condition it was given to him. It hadn't been covered, wrapped, cleaned - nothing - the entire winter. The seats are now faded, cracked, RUINED. Mind you, this isn't a new boat but it was immaculate when we got it. Mike destroyed our family pontoon. He left it out in the elements for an entire Michigan winter and it is ruined beyond repair. Insurance won't cover it, they said to sue him but we never want to see his face again. Do not trust him with your boat. read more

Mike Saved the Day!!! We were in dire straits with our pontoon unable to run and the winter closing in and no way to get the boat out of the lake. We called and he delayed his trip to Florida to come fix our starter, get it out of the lake and take it to his shop yard for storage until Spring. Without providing an exceptionally long story and pictures, I will provide the synopsis. Picked up my brand new boat in May to find a completely damaged Bimini. They tried to blame my husband saying, "a lady seen him driving down the road and it broke." Come to find out there were marks on the building it was backed in to. Was told it would be taken care of. Followed up (as requested by the owner to do), left a message since he did not answer and he left a voicemail back telling us to stop calling or he wasn't going to take care of it. Told us it was ordered multiple times, however we have a connection to the place he did order it and come to find out it wasn't ordered until over a week later. We did end up taking our boat to use while we waited. It was suppose to be cleaned (as it is part of the fee) and it was completely filthy. We spend 2-3 hours cleaning. Took over 2 months to come in (not a fault of his however a huge inconvenience as we have 2 small kids). When we went to take it to get it put back on, kindly aired out our frustrated and asked for a refund. Argued and told us "we are done here." My dad got involved and was hot headed. Did end up offering us a free storage for this winter however the damage was done. Horrible customer service and was disrespectful to my husband. Would not recommend read more

I had my brand new pontoon trailer there for 5 years and I never used it. So I needed to get my boat out of the water and he kept giving me excuses that it was buried behind boats for 2 weeks. When I finally went and got it my carpeting was all ripped up! The rims were all full of grease! So I asked him who was using my boat. But of course he said no one. When I went to put my boat on the trailer it wouldn't fit! One rail had been moved in 8 inches and you could see where it was supposed to be. I think he was renting out my trailer!!!!!! read more

AVOID AT ALL COST! Had an electrical issue with my pontoon after another local, "lakeside service" did a total cob job on rigging a new motor last fall. Mike assured me this is what he did, and he'd take care of me. He tried to upsell me on a pontoon wash, and when I declined, he said he'd do it any way to show me what he could do. I was actually considering having him winterize my new Suzuki motor and store my boat at this time! Well, he fixed one of three or four electrical issues, and I only noticed the incomplete job and remaining issues after the boat was dropped off, I was away from the launch, and his delivery driver who I paid by check was out of sight. I called Mike and he said he'd come out the next day. He did come out - two days later - spent 3 minutes under my console and told me he needed the next week to attend to personal business (daughter's wedding) but assured me he'd be back the following week to finish the job. Well, this week came and has pretty much gone, and last night he told me that, despite being paid for an incomplete job, he had to focus on his other customers (who had not yet paid him, by his own admission) to get their boats running. My boat at least runs.............so I got dropped to the bottom of the priority list because, hey, I can use it. He insisted I "work with him", told me he had already spent more time than he thought he'd have to on my boat, and was having trouble determining exactly what the remaining issues were and seemed to suggest that all was well...........despite giving him the two extra weeks to finish the job I already paid for and that he told me was all he would need to make things right. He informed me that he charged $80 an hour and seemed to suggest that, based on the time he had already spent on my boat, I had gotten some type of a deal. It was nothing more than a bull$h!t runaround. I told him I had a July 4th trip planned that I'd need my fish finder for (which suddenly stopped working after last fall's half-@$$ed motor rigging job) and he suggested I change my plans. Mike talks a good game but strikes me as a Detroit jive-@$$ who apparently thinks everyone up here is a backwoods rube. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Mike's Marine Repair!! - If you value your money or sanity. - Looked at a pontoon, paid him, and he delivered it without the existing lifejackets, anchor & gas tank on it. (the new gas tank gage was not screwed in tight and water leaked into the gas. He screamed at my mother that I bought bad gas. The inferior tank was indicated with the use of 3 Phillips and one Flathead screw holding in the gage.) Gas poured out when I picked it up to change the gas. - Exchanged battery that immediately died and was told by the Parts Store it had a "bad core" It looked to be 25 years old. HUGE!!!!! - Came back and forth 5-6 times to repair - only to talk on his phone and tell people why "their boat" was not working. "It was working when I dropped it off this morning" - Heard him tell one guy he was "switching motors" if he did not come and get it right now. - Always making excuses and covering his a**. - Drove behind him while he was delivering a beautiful pontoon he had stored over the winter -on to watch boat parts flying off because he was careless and driving so fast. - Not allowed to call him-per him- he called my 81 year old mother, repeatedly, to scream at her. She was sooo upset, she was stunned for more than 2 days. - Bought the boat on May 5 2015 . Today is June 6 and the only change is the parts are all disconnected and laying unattached under the top of the motor. Hopefully my new mechanic can help. - Moral of the story? Mike's Marina stored my pontoon over the winter. He claimed it would clean it when he brought it back in the spring. It came back dirty no oil change but the worse thing was that he had battery cables mixed up and not charged so when he brought it back it didn't start. First, I chose one Because zero stars was not an option. New to the area and short on space upon receiving the ad about the GREAT DEAL.. we decided to go with Mikes Marine Repair for winter storage. Mike left with a BEAUTIFUL clean boat that ran perfectly!!! What we recieved back was a boat that has water damage to the carpet (we were told it rained for days once he took it out of storage and he forgot to take the plug out) We doubt it was ever in storage or shrink wrapped as we paid for. The electronics didn't work and even worse, the boat won't run. He promised numerous times to come and fix everything. The last time he came here without even starting it up he said it wouldn't run right because the spark plugs and wires were original to the boat. (We changed both last summer) One excuse after another, he promised to get it running and was an expert at what he does and if we gave him the chance to fix it he would give us FREE storage this next winter....NO THANKS... After my husband having harsh words he refunded us $250 . Today we take it to a reputable dealer/repair shop. I'm sure that $250 will not cover the repairs , so unfortunately I don't think we are done dealing with this man. Please don't trust your boat to him. He left with a beautiful boat that had NO issues and brought us back one we could not use over the Memorial weekend. Living on the lake.... watching others enjoy it while you can't. read more

I paid mike to rebuild my outdrive $1600.00 ot last 20 min . was told at first he was onlyy to do the bottom end. Than he said he would rebuild it all asxwas to be done the first time. It was late fall saod he had a reman ordered n would winterize the boat for no charge and be ready in spring. That never happend never winterized cover or fixed . threw the damaged outdrive in the boat saturated the carpet with oil . ruind the motor not being winterized. I have a 6500.00 judgement in court he paid 2500.00 and quit paying . Had the sheriff there to seize any assets . Everything there including all bank accounts and vehicles are not in his name including the boat he owns and brags up. Next step is to take him back to court and get business license pulled . I have been around boats all my life. I found Mike's Marine on line last summer. He came out to my cottage on Forest Lake to install a new sound system. He did such a good job I let him store my pontoon for the winter. I called Mike in early spring about replacing the flooring from carpet to a seagrass water proof flooring. I did my research and read a couple of negative reviews. I have always been a pretty good judge of characters so I met with Mike in person to go over my flooring options and felt comfortable enough to pay Mike a 50% deposit to get the materials ordered. It's May18th and Mike delivered my pontoon to Forest Lake. I was extremely impressed with the new flooring and especially the cleanup of the boat which is part of the winter storage. My boat was cleaner than the day I purchased it 3 years ago. Mike did everything he said he would and kept his schedule discussed at the beginnings conversation. DO NOT STORE YOUR BOAT HERE! I made the horrible mistake of doing so because he is slightly cheaper than some and claims to clean the boat before delivering it back the next season. When we received the boat back there was a huge slice in one of the seats, a piece of the motor was broken off and both my fish finder cable and the speedometer cable were sliced right through. The battery was also just sitting on the back of the boat. I could have fallen right off. When I called to complain he stated that he could not even come out for several weeks to look at things because he was "too busy". When he finally did come out he agreed to fix all the damages but would not be able to complete the work for several MORE weeks. I felt I was due compensation and asked for him to fix another small are of damage on a seat at his cost. He said, "Why would I do that?" I told him he should at least do something to compensate us for the incredible amount of inconvenience. He very reluctantly agreed. After the several weeks went by only the speedometer cable and motor part were fixed. He took the seats and had them for so long we had to use the boat with 2 missing seats. He finally returned them and the second seat he agreed to fix was not fixed. He never even fixed the fish finder cable...we had to do that ourselves. This man is a crook. He is trying to do so much business that he will not take his time and do a good job. And when there is a mistake he does not even fix things in a timely or acceptable manner. A neighbor of mine received his boat back full of bird poo because they had removed the shrink wrap ahead of time and let it sit before delivery. Do yourself a favor and find a different company. You don't want to have to deal with a damaged boat and a shady business owner. read more
