I had gone in there on a whim seeing that the reviews were good and truly being disappointed. I came in asking for a shag cut and curtain bangs that met my eye level and showing reference photos. I had told Amanda that I usually have to ask for my bangs to be shorter and for them to be at my level because usually my hair stylist that I've been to does not cut them short enough. About halfway in to the service, I noticed my bangs were getting shorter and shorter, and turning more into a fringe that a curtain bang I had brought brought this up during the service and she had told me that when it dries it will look different at the end of the service I had brought up that it still look like a fringe and not curtain bangs that met my eye level. She had told me that she had noticed that my bangs were already short so she cut them shorter, and I did not know that my bangs were short because my hair had been growing out for the last three months. She then apologized and said that she should've addressed it to me that she had noticed my bangs were short that she should not have cut them anymore. I am surely disappointed in the lack of communication and the styling of my bangs. My hair now looks choppy and butchered, and I still had to pay full price. I do not recommend. read more

I visited Miko for the first time today for a natural curly cut with Kathaleana. I thoroughly enjoyed my service and was appreciative of her time and attention. My appointment was at 12pm and she started right on time. I was a little apprehensive about getting a wash n go because I'm a twist out girly but she did a great job and eased my nerves. For some reason I always had trouble getting my hair super light in just one session at other salons but Donna's work is simply just magic. I came in with the goal of going pastel pink or ash blonde but settled with a color that was attainable for my first session. I ended up dyeing my hair to a dusty purple color and I love it so much. First of all, April rocks. Simply put. Before my 30th birthday in Japan (Sakura flowers!!!) I made the crazy decision to change my hair... I wanted to go PINK! After scouring Instagram for ideas, I also came across April's Instagram page. I saw she was opening her own studio, and hopped at the chance to direct message her and set up an appointment. So here we are, appointment day. Due to it being a new location, I wasn't sure where it was, where to park, etc. April was sure to call me and let me know the best course of action. I parked at the Equinox free parking area and walked over (FREE) Which was a 3 minute walk. Not bad at all. After meeting April, we thoroughly discussed what I wanted to do with my hair. I told her pink, and her eyes lit up. We started discussing bleaching, toning, color, and care BEFORE THE PROCESS WAS EVEN STARTED. That alone reassured my confidence in taking this leap. The process in total was 9 hours and every step of the way, April and her assistant Skylar kept me informed of what was going on and reassured me the entire way. The studio provided me some lunch from &pizza (thanks again!) And after a few hours, my hair was PINK!!! She paid attention to the description of the color I wanted and when I tell you it is beautiful?! She even went as far as straightening it for me, and kindly asked if she could take pictures. I was super excited to book an appointment at Miko especially since their Instagram page and website looks so good and exactly what I wanted. However, when I was at my appointment (single overall color and trim), it was nothing luxurious...My appointment was scheduled first thing in the morning but the first red flag was my stylist running about 30 minutes late. She didn't seem too welcoming and really stressed. I understand we all have bad mornings, so I shrugged off the delay. Throughout the appointment, she barely engaged in any conversation with me so it wasn't that comfortable for me. Once my color was washed out and she moved on to my cut and her next client arrived. The next client probably had been waiting a good 20/30 minutes until the stylist acknowledged that she was behind and that she will get to her when she's done with me. The client was patient at first, but the lack of updates from the stylist and waiting another 20ish minutes, she became rightfully upset. This made me really uncomfortable since you can feel the awkwardness, stress and lack of customer service. The stylist kept telling her she was almost done with me half way through blow drying my hair...The stylist ended up just blow drying my hair with out styling it at all. Left it all frizzy and left me feeling unsatisfied... I'm pretty particular and picky with my hair but Donna she goes by @unique_donna on instagram, she is so patient, informative, transparent, and so talented in her work. I had my hair TRANSFORMED by Donna at Miko Studios. I have put my hair through so much, brunette to blonde back to brown back to blonde then box dyed black and finally wanted to go back to blonde. I've been to a few other hair studios before finding Miko and the atmosphere here is incomparable to the others. I've been with Donna at Miko Studios since March of 2022 and she does a good job of listening to what you want for your hair as well as advising you on what's best for your hair. April Maupin (Apes) is not only a phenomenal master colorist, but an amazing human being! She takes time to hear what it is you want, gives realistic suggestions and genuinely cares about you having your desired outcome. She is transparent about every step and explains costs and options before you get surprised at the register. Her work ethic is unheard of in this industry. When I went to Be Scene (where she worked before) for an initial consult with another stylist, she came to April for advice. I liked April as soon as I saw her level of knowledge and when I approached her later about wanting her to do my hair, she respectfully declined because she didn't want to take a potential client away from her coworker. I went to the coworker and she was sloppy and didn't do what I wanted at all. Months later, I came back to April who tried to fix as much as she could without breaking the bank yet again. I've been with her since and she never fails this type A, sensitive headed client. She is incredibly smart (outside hair matters), professional and a diamond in the rough. I wish I could say that I even got a haircut here and leave that review but instead I have this story... I scheduled an appointment during my break and was looking forward to a nice, skilled and professional haircut after a long time neglecting my hair. The stylist was running late and when I walked in, the client had completely wet hair and they were just moving to the chair. I waited up front for 35 minutes. By the time she was done, I told her I was worried about time because I had to get to work. I ended up leaving bc I wanted the full experience and she said it would take longer than I had available. For whatever reason, I tried again the next week with this stylist and it happened again. She texted me while I was in the parking lot, and asked if I could come 25 minutes later than my appointment. There was zero apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience and that it was her mistake. In fact, she talked down to me and explained that booking around lunch time is always going to be late and if I want it on time I should book in the morning. ThATs HoW mOSt SaLonS WoRK. So, it's my fault that she is late, somehow. I am an adult paying for a service and it is not my job to manage your time. I don't know what to say.
