Kura - Pato Marinado. The little salsa next to it was delicious!

You can scan the QR code to pull up the menu. It was in both Spanish and English. The menu was extensive, a little something for everyone. There was ramen, rice bowl, udon, sushi, sashimi, shabu, maki, nigiri, etc.   I tried the maguro mix don that had chu-toro, o-toro, and akami on top of white rice. This was a perfectly balanced meal. A good fatty texture on the sashimi. Rice to fish ratio was also good. It was refreshing from all the food we've been eating in CDMX. We all enjoyed our don and ramen.   Service was a bit slow regarding when our food came out but they brought out everyone's food at the same time. The restroom was clean as well. The indoor seating looks spacious. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and would recommend this spot if you're looking for Japanese food in the Roma Norte area.

My mom is vegan, so I had looked for restaurants with vegan options that my brother and I would also be excited to eat at. Kura's menu looked great - vegan options clearly marked (and plenty of them) and tons of options that my brother and I struggled to decide between. The menu is huge! The restaurant is beautiful - very modern and cool and very Japanese in design. The service was also great - very friendly and helpful. My mom had a vegan ramen and some vegan yakitori (shiitake mushroom). She enjoyed her dishes. We had a harder time deciding, because the menu is so large and includes so many dishes that are harder for find (nattō, chawanmushi, Hotate Butter Yaki, and so many more). Ultimately, we decided to share okonomiyaki, wagyu sando, mackerel sushi, and unagi. Everything was very good, but the wagyu sando, mackerel sushi, and unagi were our favorite dishes. I also enjoyed a glass of wine from their great beverage menu (sake, shōchū, cocktails, beer, and wine). This isn't your average Japanese restaurant menu. It has sushi, but it also has a million dishes popular at izakayas. The menu is huge - maybe even too expansive?! The food was very good. The wine was a great accompaniment to the meal. The service was great. Overall, it was a very good meal. One I'd be happy to repeat when I'm back in Mexico City.

Our server recommended a few options for us after finding out it was our first time there and that we were traveling in from out of town. They were solid recommendations and we really enjoyed our fresh air dining experience out on their patio. The prices were relatively high, but it somewhat follows the high class area that we were in, but not a cheap meal by any means. It was a fancy splurge. The one thing that we didn't like was a lot of the specialty dishes were very mayonnaise-centric. Another roll we tried was very buttery, since it had clarified butter spread across the top, so it gave it this sort of movie-theater popcorn after taste. So those items weren't our favorite, but the traditional nigiri sushi and sashimi were well prepared and delicious!

First off, the site is beautiful and very well designed. Modern with a Japanese and slightly Mexican feel. Sitting at the counter, the service was amazing and super attentive. Drinks were great ...lychee martini and a very interesting / delicious vodka soda. Dinner at the counter..with lots of torch action..was a tiger roll with delicious shrimp and a crazy good sauce. Same for the asado edamame. Even the salad rocked !!! This place is off the hook and wish they were in S.F..

Didn't opt for the omakase since my husband thought it was too much food for him. A la carte it was. We enjoyed all the food. Udon was great! I prefer udon over ramen since I like a cleaner and lighter broth. The portion was smaller than I expected, more like an appetizer size than an entrée size. Only nigiri I didn't quite liked was the geoduck, it had a fishy taste still (think aji). Would definitely return on a future trip.

The quality of the food, I'd say, is pretty good too. We started with a persimmon tofu salad with crab, shrimp, and asparagus - very clean flavor, refreshing. Then an assortment plate with mackerel & ika, trout roe, seaweed-marinated egg, matsutake mushroom salad, cactus nigiri (yes, you read that right!), and wagyu cake. I was not impressed with the wagyu... it was lacking in flavor and a little on the chewy side. The cactus nigiri was interesting! I like that Chef Asai is trying to incorporate Mexican culture into his dishes. I've never had cactus before, but it had that crunchy texture and plant-like taste. We then had a sashimi course - akami, hotate, and striped jack all on one plate. I think I would have wanted these separate instead of all on one plate, but maybe that's just my preference. We also had wagyu shabu-shabu, which I enjoyed! Overall, it was a mix of good and decent, and I enjoyed our lunch here! Interesting take on kaiseki experience.
