I had to laugh when someone left a review-stating "the currents here drown many people." There's no current, it's a self contained body of water! It is a self contained spring fed quarry (if you need to put a name to it.) I have been coming here since I was 15..a long time. I actually loved the place so much-I moved to the area in 1999 to be closer to the beach-but shortly after we got into the area, the red tape politics closed down the beach for years. We were so bummed, but it was eventually taken over a couple of times by different people, but they just never ran it as well as the Heath Family-the 1st family to own "Heath Beach," as it was called most of the time. The problem came when one of the Huron parks named "Heather Heath Beach" was constantly shut down for their nasty water, and dangerous bacteria counts. (I believe it was a Huron Metro Park.) The news updated which parks were closed on the radio, daily. They'd say "Heather Heath Beach is closed again." The public heard "Heath Beach," and didn't go to the beach in Milan. It really hurt their attendance, so the owner filed a lawsuit bcuz they were losing their livelihood-as many of the reporters got lazy and would sometimes just say "Heath Beach is closed again." They wanted to force the news crews to clarify that it's a totally different beach that was being closed. The attorney fees ate up the last money they had; so they lost the family beach. The water was tested daily, and was sent to the health dept on the regular-and they claim with proof of testing that it was the cleanest, freshest water in the 13 surrounding states! The beach has never had any bacteria issues-unlike so many fresh water sources around. We moved away now, but it looks really nice since the new owners came in! Good luck to them-it was a great place for kids and adults to hang out, and enjoy the spring water that just makes your skin so soft and it always soaks the bones of any aches and pains in that warm mineral water. It's as warm as bath water, but every once in a while you will feel the refreshing spring releasing a little cold water on your toes! Just okay. Like 2.5/5 but I'll round up to 3. My friends and I used to come here when it was called clean water beach, and we would go about once per summer. We went yesterday and it's a little different than how it used to be. The friend I went with pointed out that there was no music playing, so maybe that was it. However, it seemed more... redneck then it used to be, I guess. A lot of people smoking, a lot of people with tattoos, etc. The beach itself was a little rocky also, although the lake was still nice. They also have a diving board which is cool, but good luck getting onto the stairs... Maybe I'm just short (5'4") but it was a struggle. Admission is $7 (cash only) and they used to have a little bathroom building, but yesterday they directed me towards a changing room instead... They only have Port-A-Potties for bathrooms. Not sure if this is temporary or permanent. They also have some grills and I believe you can bring your own food and use them. My friends and I usually bring snacks but haven't grilled there. If I come back, I'd probably bring some beach chairs, because we laid out on towels on the beach and the sand was a bit bumpy/rocky. read more

I'm bummed I didn't get to visit more often this year, but I really do enjoy spending afternoons at Milan Beach. It's a man-made "lake" with very clean water and lots of space to sprawl out. You'll find picnic tables, lounge chairs plus trees and shelters for shade. Admission is a bit high at $7 a person, but you are allowed to bring everything you need to have a great time: beer (no glass or kegs), liquor (no glass), and things to grill (plenty of free charcoal grills). If you forget something, or just need a snack, they've got a little store at the front of the park. They have a diving board that goes into a very deep part of the water, and a couple anchored floating pads to catch some rays or goof around with friends. There are a handful of porta-potties, but I recommend bringing your own TP because theirs rips if you simply look at it. There are usually some children present, but I would mostly call this an adult beach. The kids tend to stick to the shallow end. There is no lifeguard present. Be sensible and careful and look out for your friends and kids. I lovingly call this place the Hillbilly Beach, and I was lost when it was closed down by previous owners a couple years ago. The void in my heart has been filled by the Hillbilly Beach reopening as Milan Beach. Check it out! read more

My wife and I have been looking for a beach to hang out at and found out that the old Heath Beach is now Milan Beach so we decided to visit and see what they have to offer. The owners greeted us at the entrance and were very friendly and answered all of our questions. They explained that first timers have to fill out a membership form, which was very small and only consisted of a few requested items. We quickly filled out the firm, paid our $7 per adult admission charge, received our membership card and proceeded to find a place. The parking is spacious and there is lots of room on the beach or on the grass between the beach and parking area. There is a diving board and two floating platforms in the water. The water was clean and parts were deep. You can bring chairs, umbrellas, pop up shelters, and coolers. Alcohol is allowed as long as it's in cans. No glass allowed! Overall, the crowd was orderly and the beach & water were clean. We would certainly recommend Milan Beach. read more

I came here once in my early-20s when it was Heath Beach. Back then it seemed a lot crazier than what I experienced this time. I can see myself going at least once or twice each summer. My girlfriend and our friends had a BBQ on one of the readily available grills. The table was nicely shaded. The lake is man-made with a couple spots to jump/dive or chill on the beach. We mostly just relaxed and listened to music, but a couple of us hit up the diving board. You can bring in food/drink/alcohol, just no glass. They sell a few things up front but we didn't check that out. I thought it was reasonably priced at $7 per person for a full day at the "beach". If I pay that and it stays as clean as it was on the day we went, I'm happy. Parking was easy, as was entry/exit. Owners were friendly and welcoming. Definitely going to return next summer. read more

Milan Beach is a great, affordable and fun place to spend an afternoon. The water is clean, people are friendly, they have a cool little "snack shack" if you forget something and the complimentary air compressor really comes in handy for inflatables. Kids are free!! although it was free to get in the changing rooms had dirty used tampons on the floor (and used pads) which i let my kids change in! also there were marijuana roaches all over the playground and under the picnic tables, cigarette butts and garbage all over... i started looking for needles it was so gross! not safe for children to be walking around with bare feet.... read more

I was there a few times years ago and I had a great time. Very Small Lake family friendly. I enjoyed myself each time I went there.

This was advertised as a family friendly beach but it is nothing but that. I took my 3 young kids there. First, the grounds were extremely dirty and gross. There was a used syringe under the picnic table. The bathrooms stunk and had used tampons in the changing area. We were there 45 min. In that time, there was a fight, a teen who passed out drunk and another teen that they were searching for in the water. As we got to the parking lot we saw, what we assumed was the owner arguing with guests in the parking lot. He was in a golf cart flicking people off. I couldn't get my kids out of there fast enough. It seemed like no one was sober there, a lot of under age drinking and drug use and no life guard....an accident waiting to happen. This was close to where we live but we will never be back. I will gladly drive much further for a cleanser, safer beach. read more

I grew up going here. One of my cousins started it and ran it just until a few years ago. It had always been a family place but also a college/HS party place on the weekend nights. Sand is clean of debris and water is typical Michigan lake water. Definitely fun for the whole family. Do plan on bringing your own food. There wasn't food available for purchase last time I knew. read more

I love Milan beach & I really enjoy the new owners... But alcohol is supposed to not be on the beach area, ( sand area ) per owners... Yet time after time adults are drinking by the water & in the water. As well as multiple times I've seen people smoking in the water by other people's kids... I have a 2 yr old and it's not right for that behavior in the family area... Take that up top away from the sand and water. Or down by the diving board area. The owners need to post signs for the inconsiderate adults about this issue... read more

I found out about Milan Beach when I searched " beach near my home". I took 3 girls there as as outing. The beach is lovely. It was not crowded; the water temperature was ideal. The girls had a wonderful time. They didn't want to leave. I was able to sit in the sun reading a perfect book for the beach. The area is roomy but small enough for me to keep an eye on the girls without difficulty. I will definitely take them again. read more

I love this beach. The new owners are friendly and very welcoming. The beach is kid friendly and clean. It's not over crowded although I did go on a weekday. I was pleasantly surprised to see patio chairs and furniture there for the comfort of beach goers. This is the only beach we go to! Love this place. read more
