Ten sculptures by seven different artists, with the theme of "play", this is a cool exhibit in…read moreNapa. Apparently, the Napa Art Walk theme changes every couple of years. We visited this past weekend, and it was pretty much like a scavenger hunt, because the pieces are not all located in the exact same area, they are along different streets hidden in gardens and near businesses at random points. But if you have a map, it makes it easier (I included a photo). Most of the pieces are within walking distance to each other, but on a super hot day, we opted to skip a few that were farther out. If you love art, this is a great display of unique and creative artworks, some simpler than others but all created with symbolism. The pieces are made out of diverse materials, from musical strings to bicycle parts, as well as stone, glass, aluminum, and steel.  My favorite sculptures were Time and Awareness, stone artwork that looked almost like a wave, and Wild Flower, a colorful presentation of the Californian poppy made out of bicycle wheels (this one's easy to find, it's right next to Gott's Roadside at Oxbow Public Market). Most of the others are closer to the Riverfront, or 1st and Main. We had fun experiencing the seventh Napa Art Walk exhibition (2021-2023) on a Sunday afternoon, an opportunity to appreciate the talents of diverse artists. The gallery is adaptable, and really has a variety of artists exhibiting their work here. It is a digestible size, meaning you can stop by for a short visit to be inspired without feeling worn out afterwards. This place is a gem.

Separately both are worth the visit, but co-located this is a must see. Gear box rotates often, usually with two local artists and a guest artist for each show. The shows are diverse, well curated, and very accessible- physically, visually and intellectually. The person behind the desk offered me some great insights into the creative process and personality of the artists. I felt very welcome here. But I'm confident they will leave you to just look and enjoy if that is your vibe.

Such an amazing space…read more Aside from being a gorgeous gallery, it's also my dream house. Think "urban barn," with a small gallery below and a huge hardwood floored loft with vaulted ceilings and luxurious patio above. Vessel was the absolute stand-out spot for me during Art Murmur. They had a very simple but interesting sculpture exhibit downtstairs, and this dreamy little folksy musician (Anna Ash and the Family Tree) strumming and crooning away upstairs. It was all so bohemian. Vessel is a must, especially amidst the mish-mash of happenings during Art Murmur. But beware...you'll probably want to stay a while.

It was the venue for a Yelp mixer that featured body art. Such a gorgeous space, and a great spot to stop off and reflect on the meaning and purpose of art for a bit. PS The rafters and angles with the sloped roofline create dedicated nooks and crannies of secrecy and mystique, which I find utterly charming. Reminds me of the wonderful days I lived off Gibbons Dr in Alameda.....a literal paradise of architectural gems.

The paintings were absolutely stunning and immediately caught our attention. We ended up getting in touch with the artist and purchasing one for our own home. I also wanted to leave a review because I know the artwork was curated through this gallery, and Nikita and the ERIA team had nothing but wonderful things to say about how great they were to work with. I always love supporting local businesses, especially when they're collaborating with other local businesses in the community. After picking up our piece, we spent some time walking through the gallery to see everything else they had on display, and there were so many beautiful pieces. As we continue decorating our new home, we'll definitely be back. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in and taking a look. You never know what you might fall in love with.

When we arrived I was surprised how quaint Benicia was and there huge art community. It turns out that we arrived for there 2nd Saturday Art Walk. I had no idea they still existed. I loved the environment and people. They were all so nice. Our first stop was Gallery 621. We lucked out at finding a parking spot a little over a block away. The place was packed. The gallery is a co-op gallery. Every member takes turns manning the gallery and they all pay in to show there art. They had a good collection of art work and a few statues. The galley was really buzzing. The few people I talked to either were artists or people who followed the artists. I talked to another couple and they drive in once a year to see Daniel's shows. He has quite a following. His work has evolved over the years. This show was wax and spray paint and many layers. Below you can see page 3. We are now proud owners of page 3.
