We decided to stop by and look at the place. We really liked the place and made plans to come back. Fast forward about 5 wks after that initial finding and a small group of us are headed back out to the B&B. Some stayed at the Barrow House itself while me and a friend stayed across the street at Printer's House. We had a private bath and parlor. Also had a kitchen that was available to us. The Barrow House was the most comfortable and enjoyable bed and breakfast experience that I have had in recent years. The rooms are very large and clean. It has the cozy feeling of staying in someone's home but guests also have complete privacy. Shirley and Chris are wonderful and really know how to run a B&B (which isn't easy). St Francisville is one of the most charming cities in Louisiana. The Barrow House is a great asset to this unique city.

This was the perfect setting for a reunion! The breakfast was great and Ms. Shirley was generous with information about the place--she was a true delight, as was the location and the room (we were in the Victorian Room in the Printers House--and what a history it has!). The street was quiet and wonderful, and it's a great place to stroll into town from. Great time with great people--I can't wait to take my mom here, she'll love it!

Every walk across the property felt serene and timeless. What truly sets Greenwood apart is its rich history. You get to hear the stories of the past in every corner, by the owner herself. from the architecture to the surrounding landscape. It's a place that invites reflection and appreciation for the craftsmanship and legacy preserved there. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply looking for a quiet and beautiful place to unwind, Greenwood Plantation offers something special. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking a unique, memorable, and deeply charming stay. One thing I didn't realize when I booked our stay was the bed and breakfast is a separate building area across the pond looking at the mansion. I booked thinking we would be actually in the mansion which was exciting but after reading the website again it clearly states this. One last thing I really enjoyed was the playing of the national anthem and the tribute to all the military branches played at 1800. God Bless America!

The guided tour does a strong job of bringing the property's past to life. Set among towering oak trees and Spanish moss, the plantation itself is visually stunning, and the home's preserved interiors give an authentic glimpse into 18th- and 19th-century Louisiana life. Rainy Day our knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, was mixing well-documented history with the plantation's well-known ghost stories in a way that feels balanced rather than over-the-top. That said, expectations matter. If you're hoping for a purely historical deep dive, some of the supernatural elements may feel a bit dramatized. On the flip side, if you're looking for a full-on haunted experience, it's more subtle than theatrical. Overall, The Myrtles Plantation tour is a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling through Louisiana. It offers a memorable mix of culture, history, and atmosphere--especially for those who appreciate a good story along with their sightseeing.

It is easily in our top 5 favorite restaurants. It would also be within the top 3 or 5 best restaurants we've eaten at. I think it has gotten better since we started visiting, which is saying a lot. The restaurant is now getting recognized by Michelin and was recently added to their Michelin Guide. I will have to see if I can locate additional photos I have taken over the years. We have been at this point, June 2026, about five times. Every time we go the food and service is 10/10. We always start with the Baguette, Bisque and Sensation Salad. If I had to choose one dish to order it would be the Bisque. I could make a meal out of it with the Baguette. It is one of the 10 best bites of food I have ever had. It's the best thing on the menu in my opinion and luckily it's a main stay. As far main dishes go we have had varieties of their steak, pane'd veal, pork chop, pasta and fish. All were amazing. When it comes to desserts we typically get the flourless Chocolate Torte (when available) and the cheesecake.
