My family and I ventured here for lunch during our vacation in Switzerland. My Aunt Christiane knew it would give us a good impression of Swiss culture, food and dairy.
We arrived to a very cool and laid back place. Diners here and there. We were seated and looked over the menu. While we looked over the menu, our daughter was able to play in a small kids area. They had toys and a table and she was able to stay occupied. (We never do phones or tablets at the dinner table.) This was a refreshing thing to see and wished we would see it more often in the states.
After doing our best to go over the menu, which was not available in English, I settled on a schnitzel dish. They offer many traditional dishes to the area, called Einsiedeln along with Schwyz dishes.
Their menu changes weekly so looking back at their menu, I don't see my dish listed anymore. However, it was excellent. A pan fried schnitzel, not breaded. Covered in caramelized onions and house made cheese. The pork was tender and juicy, the onions rich in flavor and covered with a mild yet sweet and savory cheese. It reminded me of Munster. I wish I remembered exactly what it was. It was paired with a fresh greens salad on the side.
All in all, it was an excellent meal and we'd come back again. read more
