No actual pepperoni came with this dish. LOL. Stroganoff with a little kick. They could've added a bit more beef though. 3/5 Fritschi Pastetli: Fritschi puff-pastry from a very old house recipe. They had 3 menu items that are house specialties so, I wanted to give one of them a try and I picked this. I Googled what Fritschi Pastetli before coming here. Puff pastry pie - I can eat that. You can taste the alcohol. The puff pastry was nice but overall the dish was salty and again, not enough meat. 3/5 A lot of people complained about the service here on review sites but our server was great. This place was a pleasant surprise stop in Lucerne! Parking wasn't great, but we found a spot up the hill and walked down to the bridge and explored the town. Our Viking tour guide recommended this place, and it did not disappoint! Amazing food, drinks, ambiance, and service! We had the cheese fondue with bratwurst and potato pancake. We came just as the kitchen was closing, actually a few minutes after 2pm where they shut down until the evening meals, and our server was very nice and asked us as we sat if we were going to order food so he could ask the kitchen if they would stay open to make our meal. The waiter came back with a smile and said they were happy to serve us. We opted for a traditional Alpenmagronen which is a Swiss dish of macaroni, and Swiss cheeses, cubed potatoes and apple sauce on the side, and it's topped with perfectly crisp French onions. This was so rich and creamy I felt like skipping the local chocolate shop I was craving. This dish is what you want. Also water is usually an extra charge everywhere, so be prepared for that. Great place. We all figured we're in Switzerland, we have to have some Swiss Fondue. We asked one of our guides and she recommended this place. The building is just gorgeous. There are many beautiful painted buildings in Luzern and this one is definitely one of them, very eye catching. The guide said this place was popular so we got there early. There were just a few people when we go there but by the time we were done, it was jam packed. One thing that I noticed is a large majority of the diners looked liked tourists so I think it's common for the staff to have their hands full with customers like us who know very little about a fondue place. The first server that came to our table looked frustrated with our questions so he immediately turfed us off to another server who seemed much more patient. :) The four of us just ordered the cheese fondue with a side of potatoes to dip along with the bread. Just this was more than enough for the four of us. The fondues I've had in the past were usually with french or sourdough bread but this one was served with a wheat bread. This bread along with the potatoes were delicious dipped in the cheese. With the bread, a small ramekin of vodka was given to us. The server explained the thing to do was dip a small corner of the bread in the vodka before dipping it into the cheese. I gotta say, this really gave the bread/cheese combination that extra kick, fantastic. We unfortunately were leaving Luzern the next day otherwise I would've loved to come back and try some of the other things. We walked in here after the restaurant across the street was closed for a private concert. We understand that prices are high here but for the amount of food and the quality of service, these prices are absolutely outrageous. We got the cordon bleu and it was good but the portions were absolutely insane for 41 franc. You should take your money somewhere else (probably across the border into France) for a much better dinner and environment. The cheese in my cordon bleu was still cold and it was barely fried. Once again, for this price, this is outrageous. We were constantly having to hound the waiters for simple things like the fries that came with our food. After we finished our food, we collectively were all still hungry. We had a great day in Lucerne which unfortunately came to a close with a subpar and very expensive dinner. However, there is a bad-service poker face manager who seems not happy when we just order a fondue and pork sausage dish, and he even add 7 bucks for plate without any notice. This is a restaurant is in old town of Lucerne that serves traditional Switzerland meals. I have the sausage and has browns and my brother had the chicken and Mushroom. Both dishes were very good and filling. The flavors were just right. Not too strong and not too weak. They specialize in their Fondue which we did not get, however a table close to us got the cheese and chocolate fondue and it looked exceptional! The smiles on their faces said it all! Eh, it's Switzerland, so be prepared for most restaurants to have at least a $50 tab for 2. My brother's order got mixed up as he ordered a sausage fondue and I ended up getting the herb fondue instead of the one with a fried egg. When I raised the question about where the egg was, our server just kept asking if I wanted egg, so I said, yes if it was included. So she did bring me the egg, but I was billed separately for it, which ultimately worked out to the price of what I ordered, but it was a bit confusing at first. My sister in law ordered some fish and a side salad which was the size of an appetizer for $30. The fondue, which I really wanted to make an effort to try in Switzerland, was really nothing special to be quite honest. It didn't taste much different than the ones you get here in the states. It was $32 and all it included was some potatoes and bread. If you share, they'll tack on another $32 per person. The fondue bowl was way too big for one and there just wasn't enough dipper items for it to be worth it. Our bill ended up being about $70 for the fondue and my husband's rosti. It was really nothing special to be quite honest. Water will run you another $6-7. read more

However, I may just also be influenced by my infatuation with the city of Luzern. It's located just a few steps off the main bridge of the city. As for the food, the cheese fondue was pretty amazing. It's probably the best I've had although I don't eat much of it. The mixed meat kabob I got was not bad either, but nothing to write home about. They have patio seating out front, which is surrounded by local shops and stores in a cobblestone setting. We dined here after a recommendation from the tour guide at our hotel. Two of us happily sat outside and shared fondue, rosti, beer, and apple strudel. Everything was delicious! The fondue was flavorful and accompanied by two types of crusty bread cubes. The rosti, topped with sliced tomatoes and melted cheese, was absolutely delicious..... as was the strudel. The host/waiter alternated between charming and downright rude.... but we'll settle for "quirky". The setting is lovely with beautiful murals painted on the building's front. My food goal for Lucerne was to have fondue and to have as much as possible. Our Viking river cruise staff told us this place was a must do so my mom and I checked it out with another couple. The menu is a tad confusing so we asked for clarification. He sold us on the 3 course meal with cheese fondue to start. That would be the only fondue I got to try. When I told him o was jealous of the couple next to us who has dessert fondue, he said my apple tart was better quality. I have been in Germany for the last 10 days. Found this place via Yelp and decided to give it a try. Most fondue places are pretty proud of their product so you pay accordingly. Once you get over the fact that you are paying $25+ a head, all is fine. The girls ordered the herb fondue for two while my son and I ordered the vodka fondue which comes with bread and potatoes to dip. Both fondues were amazing and the German beer was a great addition. Great fondue - the real thing. I didn't need anything else since this was so rich and a very good sized portion. The raclette ordered by my SO was perfect, but such a large portion that it cooled before he could finish it so that was a little disappointing. We've had it in other places where the cheese was on a broiler and stayed warm and gooey - here they just put the melted cheese on the plate. The rosti were so-so to us, but we may be spoiled from having this in other places in Switzerland and in Austria. It is very expensive but we were willing to splurge to get the real deal in fondue. So many places in Lucerne offer something similar but if you've had the real thing those places are not interesting. read more

switzerland is ridiculously expensive so if you plan on eating, be prepared to spend a good chunk of money to be fed. for two fondue pots, a mixed salad and two beers, the entire bill came out to almost 70CHF (which is about $80USD i think). the place was small and old. the fondue was good but definitely not worth the 27€ each pot. the service was sub-par and the cleanliness of the restaurant barely made minimum standards. overall, the only thing i can say is that i had traditional swiss fondue. pretty good. not amazing. and defly NOT worth the money. oh well. read more
