So you can imagine how bummed I felt when I walked out of Publix and discovered my car wouldn't start. A helpful do-gooder mechanic-hobbiest-type saw my distress and tried to jump my car with his cables. No go. He was able to establish with a gauge conveniently stowed in his trunk that my battery was fine. Damn. He thought it might be the car's starter, but didn't have one of those. Nor did he have other recommendations or a referral. Damn again. I called an auto repair shop that serviced my car a few months ago. The shop was certain they could fix what ever ails the car, but I'd have to bring it in. They don't operate a towing service. They could recommend one, though. Goodie! Yay! They called that towing service but the gentleman who operates it doesn't work weekends. Damn, once again. So, with 32% of the power remaining in my iPhone, I consulted Yelp for a tow. That's how I found Rico. Rico asked me a few pertinent questions, then I asked Rico a few pertinent questions. It was a Match. Yippee! "When can you be here?" I asked Rico. "I'm in West Palm, it'll be about an hour and a half." He told me he received a lot of calls that morning in West Palm. Lucky Rico. Business is good. "That's a long time to wait. You've got a great reputation so let me call you back if I'm unable to find another provider." "OK," Rico replied. I charged ahead calling company after company receiving no answer or inflated prices or replies indicating my lack of importance to the Universe. My phone was losing its charge, and I remembered what a good match Rico was. So I called Rico back and his timeline had shortened. He could meet me in an hour. And he did. He showed up at Publix parking lot, backed up to my car when an apparatus reminiscent of The Transformers extended from the back of his truck, enveloping my rear tires. "Cool!" Rico exited his truck, introduced himself, shook my hand, and did the other stuff necessary to secure my ailing car for its trip to the repair shop. All the while we exchanged polite chit chat. I asked him if he minded taking the car to the repair facility without me. "No problem," Rico told me. I handed him cash, shook his hand, and watched him drive off. Rico made this a painless transaction. He was quick, efficient, and competent. I'm glad to say I've finally begun my approved service provider list for my new town. And Rico is at the top. The guy wearing the sunglasses in the photos will NOT be happy about it. Grrrr!!! There are tow companies with motorcycle towing listed on their websites and on YELP. Yet DO NOT tow motorcycles. One company has motorcycle towing in its name, and DOES NOT tow motorcycles! What the heck, man??? Moto Tow is affordable, but wait there's more. They arrive on time! There is no wide window with them. You get a concise ETA (estimated time of arrival). Speaking of affordable, don't bother calling those $50 tow anywhere in Dade or Broward. Why? Because they A) are too slammed to help you that day. Or B) they don't tow motorcycles!!! Our insurance company [Progressive] bungled tow requests numerous times. They tried to charge $137, claimed we exceeded the number of tows in a rolling six month period. They had wide windows of arrival times. They worked with tow companies that cancelled on them, which meant they had to contact other companies to do the tow. Got jostled about 3-4 times one day!!! Once, they scheduled the tow for the wrong day and time. Scheduling a tow online is a joke because you still have to call. Their customer service and towing service is not connected. Want to avoid all of that? Simply call Moto Tow. Consider it a done deal. One last thing. If you pay in cash, have the exact amount. The driver does not make change. He tells you that up front, so there is no surprise on your part. Your bike will be secured in a wheel chock before being tied down with ratchet straps. This provides added peace of mind as your bike is hoisted. As crazy as it sounds, we would rather call Moto Tow, and pay their rate than deal with our insurance company because we have free roadside assistance, which includes FREE towing up to 12 miles. We've gone with Moto Tow twice. Affordable, reliable arrival time, good service, and the guy with the sunglasses is a hoot...as long as your ride doesn't leak oil. Lesson learned.

Mr. Reese is more reliable than our own insurance company's towing providers. We only had one or two successful tows with Progressive. And by successful, we mean timely tow truck arrival, and no confusion with if we should be charged or not for the tow. North Star Towing gives you an estimated time of arrival, and adheres to it! If there is anything that throws off that timeline, Mr. Reese will tell you. He is excellent when it comes to communicating with you while he is in transit. We primarily go with North Star Towing because they tow motorcycles, and treat them with kid gloves when loading and unloading them. But North Star also tows standard vehicles. Needing a tow is a stressful situation. Meaning, you a need reliable, timely, and trustworthy company. This is what you will find with Mr. Reese's company, North Star Towing. Contact him for you towing needs.

The gentleman in the truck (I believe he was the owner) helped me evaluate the oil level in my car, determined it was only a little low, topped me off and let me know it was safe to drive the car.
