I went with the low bid this time, which I don't always do. It paid off to the tune of saving about $500. I have held off for a while making this review. I do believe that the people who work here are very…read morenice people, but I still feel the need to share our experience. We hired Great Expectations to paint our interior of our house in November 2021. At first, the experience was good. Lief was the person who came out to give estimates and check out what we needed done. He is very nice, friendly, & seemed knowledgable. We broke the project up into two portions, the main floor & bedrooms/bathrooms, and then the basement. I will note that they were accommodating to a schedule change we had to do last minute, due to an unexpected hospital visit (thank you for that). The basement was done first. Rob was the lead painter on the job. They claimed him to be the "most experienced interior painter" that they had. He had help from 2 other (questionably sketchy) workers on most days, though some days he was alone. Some days the workers would say they would be there at X time, and would just not show up. Everything in the basement was to be painted EXCEPT our wooden windowsills, and two rooms (which we had stored our furniture and our belongings in. The rest of the basement was virtually empty other than a couch which they covered and our king bed). Well, Rob did not properly close off the two rooms where our belongings were held. There was overspray on EVERYTHING. My bed, my comforter, suitcases, my clothes & blankets, furniture. They said they would compensate us for whatever we had receipts for... I've owned my things for years and don't have receipts for everything and only was able to be compensated for roughly a $100 comforter. When we complained about the overspray Lief said that Rob would clean it, but he didn't. I watched him "clean" the front of the rooms near the openings but the overspray went clear to the back of the room too. It's been 2 years and I am still finding and cleaning overspray. Just laziness and complete disregard for others things. 5 minutes of prep time to really seal off those rooms could have saved all of my belongings from being dusted with white paint. (I wish that was the last of the overspray saga, but they dusted our washer and dryer upstairs as well.) Then there was a "miscommunication" between Lief and Rob, and they painted over our beautiful wooden windowsills with white. I balled like a baby ya'll. Like really, really cried. We always checked every night the progress - and were able to somehow get the paint off of the windowsills with warm water and hours and hours of scrubbing. There is still white that we just can't get off. (They said they would fix them but obviously never did). One day, one of the painting assistant decided to just bring his girlfriend to work. I turned the corner to a complete stranger standing in my hallway looking around my house (at areas they weren't even painting in, mind you). That was enough for me to hide all our medications. Just really not a comforting feeling to be left out of the loop on who is in your house. All It would've taken was to ask, instead I was left feeling sketched out. Overall, the house does look nice - but the experience to get us to this point was truly not something I would recommend. When you are paying "Professionals" you expect a certain level of professionalism & care, and I just don't feel like we got that. I'm not making this review to shame anyone, just hope it's helpful for the business owner & future customers alike.

Our experience with Dave from Fixquisite was mixed. At the start, we appreciated his willingness to…read moretake on a unique project and help us stay within our budget. Parts of this remodel likely wouldn't have happened without his early collaboration, and we were hopeful based on those initial conversations. However, as the project when on, we increasingly felt that our job was not a priority. We had made a unique agreement in which we would complete much of the labor ourselves with up to 40 hours of coaching from Dave, since we were newer homeowners and wanted to do things correctly. In practice, we ended up relying on YouTube and friends/family for guidance because Dave was often disengaged, distracted, or would send images of ideas without explaining how to implement them. On days he scheduled to work with us -- days we rearranged our own busy schedules for -- he often arrived late, came unprepared, or left to attend to other customers. Site visits were either brief and repetitive or long but unfocused, and at times occurred before we confirmed he could stop by. Overall, we did not feel that our time (or his) was used efficiently. We also encountered multiple instances of rushed or careless workmanship, which we were left to correct ourselves: protruding missed nails, uneven framing, and lack of attention to drywall details, among others. While his partner, Gary, was consistently helpful and professional, Dave himself occasionally shared unsolicited and inappropriate personal commentary (such as suggesting we research legal separation and/or a prenup based on his personal life experiences and telling me about women he found attractive at the bar or women he was interacting with on dating apps). As the project neared final inspection, Dave became dismissive of our concerns about time management and increasingly insistent about being paid immediately. He sent invoices before gathering our final receipts and before the inspection was complete (the first inspection did not pass). Although we hadn't set a strict contractual timeline, we had verbally agreed on aiming for Thanksgiving. Despite this, he pressed for urgent payment during our workday, insisting it was due prior to the holiday. He claimed the payment was "past due" even though we paid him the same day the inspection passed. For receipt reconciliation, he had agreed to a specific deadline. Despite receiving receipts prior to that deadline, he delayed addressing the details of the receipts, suggested our expectation of the deadline being met was unreasonable, and completed the task late. In the end, we are grateful for the improvements we made to our home and paid Dave (before Thanksgiving). However, the overall experience left us feeling disappointed and hesitant to enter into an arrangement like this again, and we will seek out a different team for future projects. We had hoped for a more professional and attentive process.

He matched our interior fireplaces perfectly, and every measurement and cut was done expertly. There are lots of pipes, outlets, etc. on that wall, and each cut around was so tight it was amazing. It looks absolutely beautiful! Plus, Dave is a super nice and honest guy. We cannot give him enough stars to reflect his perfectionism and work ethic. He is simply the best!​
