Tried to get a rough estimate over the phone for a alternator replacement and refused to give me one. Why can't you just say how much it is to replace an alternator? Update - called 3 other places after and they all gave me estimates over the phone. Would have liked to have gone with you guys because your very close to my home. I went to go get my check engine light fixed here. first of all, they charged me $130 just to figure out what was wrong with my car (AutoZone would've done it for free). Then they charged me over $800 to fix my spark plugs in ignition coils with a fuel injection. Not to mention my check engine light is back on not even a month later. I just took it to a very trusted mechanic, to which we found out milex didn't fix the issue with my plugs, i was missing a plug connector piece and instead of just replacing that, milex put a rubber band on it. They charged me upwards of $600 for a rubber band. Do not go to them unless you want to pay an insane amount in labor and be charged for unnecessary things. read more

I called to see about having 4 used tires mounted. Was quoted 100 bucks. Got there and waited and waited because someone else was flipping out their work was not done. So they were in a bind and tried to tell me I had a bad tire and they would only mount 2 of 4. They admitted they didn't want to pay overtime. That was the motivation. Then charged me almost 70 for 2 tires when they quoted 100 for 4. But he was so worried about putting a damaged tire on previously because of safety ​. So i drove home.and now of course my 20 inch rim is damaged. Filing a bbb complaint tonight and will be having a lawyer wring them out. read more

I was in town on business and I found my car covered in ice. Letting the car warm up and fully scraping the windows, as we all do in the Midwest, I turned on my wiper blades to find that one was not functioning...kind of like a shoulder blade out of socket. I carefully drove to an auto shop near to my hotel who turned me away, but turned me on to Milex. Thank you to that "other" auto shop! I walked into Milex and they were wonderful! Took care of me right away and fixed my car so that I could safely proceed with my sales calls and get home. They are friendly, thoughtful, efficient, and fare. Unfortunately had to get my oil changed and while there the guys recommended I get my diff. fluid changed. Would never of known that I needed that done and I'm grateful they were looking out for the well-being of my vehicle! Service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Removing a star because they forgot to put the engine cover back on and they gave it back at a separate time. They should be more aware of things like that. Pricing was competitive, I would definitely come here again and recommend this business though. read more

Took my BMW here for the first time because my rear view mirror fell off and the auto store said the glue kit wouldn't work. Grant and the staff fixed it for $27- out the door! PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING TO MILEX. So on Monday (12/6/21) I brought my 2019 Ram Promaster 1500 in for an oil change and tire rotation. No problem there. The oil was changed and tires were rotated properly. The issue comes when they returned my van to me. Your mechanic came in, went and sat down at his desk in the office. When I was getting the final print off, the gal working the front desk told me that it looked like there was a leak in the radiator. To which the mechanic bellowed from the office: "Yeah, its got a crack and it is leaking down the side of the radiator." The gal asked me if I wanted a quote for a new radiator and I told her no, and that I would have our resident auto mechanic here at pool tech take a look at it. Turns out that there was no leak and no issue. I have not lost any fluid in my radiator or my reservoir and that is after a day trip with it up to Hampton Iowa and multiple hours of it idling to keep it warm. Not once have I seen any wet spots on the ground from leaks, and the radiator is bone dry on the sides. My questions are: "Why, other than to steal money from Pool Tech, did your mechanic lie straight to the face of a service professional? Did he just assume that I would take him at his word and have you guys replace a flawless radiator? Did he assume that I am just that dumb? How does he sleep at night knowing he is lying and stealing from his customers?" Secondly, one of my coworkers brought in his work truck, a f-150 for an oil change and they forgot to not only put the oil fill plug back in the valve cover but they LEFT THEIR FUNNEL IN THE VALVE COVER! My coworker only noticed this when he was all the way up to Waterloo and wondered "hmm why is smoke pouring from under my hood?" Had he not caught that in time, his engine could have exploded. When he called and went to confront Milex about it... none of the mechanics were anywhere to be found... shock of all shocks... their way to "make it right" was "we'll clean under the hood for you and top off the lost oil." Awesome. They had nothing to say for themselves of how they put his life in danger. Had that engine thrown a rod it could have severely injured him or someone else... We will not be taking any more vehicles to Milex. I emailed them telling them I would be posting this and they still haven't gotten back to me. Update: it is 12/21/21 and they still haven't commented on this. And I think they never will because they know they were in the wrong here. read more

I am blown away with the honestly at Milex!!! Originally we thought we were in need of a transmission rebuild. They diagnosed a bad leak and need of 2 new supply lines. When they got into the repair, discovered only one supply line was needed. I believe most other repair shows would have stuck with the original quote and both supply lines. They were honest and instead we paid $60 less than the original quote!!! I think Grant is an honest good man!! We will be back for any repairs in the future!!!!! Thank you!!! read more
