Playing in the park with my Shiba friends
    Nicole Y.

One of the many perks of living in Mililani, the the abundance of beautiful parks. I enjoy bringing my Shiba here to socialize with other dogs and run! The park is very large, well maintained and there's always pups ready to play. FYI: This park does not have separate areas for different sized dogs like other parks do. Just a few reminders: 1. If your dog hasn't socialized with other dogs, you might want to keep them on a leash when they first get there. The first time I brought my Shiba. I walked him around the perimeter of the park on his leash. When he was ready, I took him off the leash and observed him playing with other dogs. 2. If you're dog doesn't play well with other dogs, please think twice about bringing them to the dog park. My Shiba was playing with another small dog and a big dog came out of nowhere and attacked him. Luckily I'm always close by him and picked him up immediately and my shiba was not harmed. 3. Please watch your dogs! Our fur babies maybe the sweetest pets at home, but things are a lot different when they are surrounded by other dogs. 4. If your dog gets overwhelmed by a lot of dogs, then I'd advise to go when the park is less busy. Best times are mornings and midday. After 5 pm, the park is pretty busy with many dogs. 5. Always bring poop bags and pick up your dogs poop! 6. Join a play date ! My shiba loves coming to the monthly Shiba play dates ! 7. Bring a hat & water if you come in the afternoon as it can get hot ! I've had good experiences here with my Shiba and enjoy this park a lot. But I've also have observed a few things and thought the tips would be helpful for those who haven't visited this park.

I LOVE this dog park! It's my one of my favorites on the island and my dogs too. The only thing is the directions take you to a park in mililani town and the dog park is located in mililani mauka. If you're looking for the CORRECT directions when you're on the freeway get off on Mililani mauka exit and turn left at the corner with longs and take your next left there's a little parking lot on the left right in front of the dog park very convenient but kind of hard to see from the street. When you get there there's a double gate and the weather was really nice there's also a few trees for shade and lots of benches. I like this park because all the owners were watching their dogs they didn't just let them run free like some other parks I've seen and there was grass. There is a area of red dirt just an FYI. Over all the location of the park and the parking lot is very convenient the pawrents are friendly. My Frenchie and I will definitely be back here more often!

This is a great dog park. Very spacious and lots of parking. Seems to be a steady stream of dogs coming in, mostly medium to large dogs from what I could tell. Most owners are very friendly and seem responsible for their dogs. Only down fall is that there's quite a bit of dirt patches so most of the dogs look quite a bit browner upon leaving, LOL. There's a hose there with many water bowls for the dogs, several benches and a few trees. The entry is the double entry so you can unleash/leash your dog there.

Open park for big & little dogs to play

Always our "go-to" dog park since we lived in Mililani. We've since moved from there but still make the drive when we have time. There's a ton of parking since it's shared with a park + Mililani park & ride. The weather is nice & cool most days except when there's rain & you'll have to deal with a red dirt dog. It's one open park with trees and benches. Big dogs & little dogs aren't separated here so if you are nervous about dog sizes mingling it may not be the place for you, or just pay close attention to your dog(s). There's a water spigot / hose for fresh water & we used to allow our dogs to drink from the "community" bowls, but have since stopped. They always come home and have the runs for about a week. Since we stared bringing our own water bowl & water, they've been fine. Also with any dog park, there are always some dog owners who are inattentive and don't pick up their dog's mess which leaves our dogs running around stepping in poop. so please pick up your dogs poop! Once in a while we'll witness some "aggressive" behavior but most times owners are pretty quick to intervene and remove their dog from the situation. We had an experience when our dog was a pup where the lady did nothing but those instances are rare. The crowd that comes here is pretty personable and friendly. Lots of military! Busy time is around 5-6 pm, lots of dogs!

This is a great dog park. Nice and open with shaded bench areas. The only downside is that it's open to any dog size and night lighting is dim. Owners and dogs are well behaved and friendly atmosphere.

    Lots of space to play!

What a lovely spot for dogs to be dogs! Don't be that jerk that doesn't watch your dog and starts acting a fool with the rest of them... for the most part, on my visit, dogs were playing nicely. Every now and then there will be a little fight but owners are quick to break them apart. The park itself has a couple of benches, a couple of trees and I'm assuming toys from sweet random dog lovers. There's a hose and a water fountain available to refill water bowls or wash off messes. The entrance/exit gate looks pretty secure. Two gate doors that swing outward. Lots of parking in the park and ride lot. We went around 1630-1730 and there were a good amount of dog traffic coming and going. As far as I could see the grassy areas were nice but around the trees there were droppings left behind. I mean seriously, be respectful and take the time to bring poop bags and pick up after your dog. So pilau! It's honestly a lot nicer than I've heard or thought it would be. So glad to be a dog owner now, we'll be able to visit this park often for our furbaby. Not only a place where your dog can play but great place to see so many different types of beautiful dogs in one place!

A pretty decent dog park but not as nice as the Hawaii Kai one. There's a lot of grass but some decently large patches of red dirt. Some benches to sit on but given how many dogs like to mark them it's wiser to just stand. Most of the dog attendees know how to handle their dogs but there are of course some that have more trouble with dog etiquette. There is no small dog section here either.

By far my favorite dog park on island. Clean area not muddy, friendly and attentive owners with their animals.

I am new to the island and so happy to have found a dog park. I like that the dog park is maintained, has shade and benches to sit on.

Ask the Community - Mililani Dog Park

I noticed someone commented that their dog was infested with ticks which they believed came from the dog park. How does the city ensure the dog park is pest-free?

    Please call 808-643-7378

How has the 4 tier system affected the dog park. We are on BI and coming over in Oct? Looking for a place to let my daughter's ESA run a bit.

Aloha Kate. Off-leash dog parks were reopened on Sept. 24 as part of the first Tier. Mahalo for asking and enjoy the park!

    Is the dog park open?

Aloha Steffany and mahalo for your patience. The Mililani Dog Park is closed as part of the Mayoral Emergency Order 2020-24, which is currently scheduled to end on September 17, 2020. Mahalo for asking and stay healthy.

Is this park open or closed because of the pandemic?

Aloha Dc. City off-leash dog parks are still closed at this time (as of Friday, May 15), but their reopening is hopefully coming soon. We are planning for the reopening of more and more park facilities as the curve of COVID-19 cases flattens and… Read more

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

I was the only one parked there and I went on a Friday morning around 9. Playground: The sign says its for kids ages 5- 12. I took my 22 month old daughter. She loved it. I loved how clean the playground is! It's seriously the cleanest playground I've taken my kids to. There are two slides for kids to choose from. Parts of the park are shaded, included two benches you can sit at to watch your little ones while they play. The bigger slide has a bridge that was too scary for my daughter to go on alone, she wasn't scared, I was. A little toddler could easily fall through, but I can see how it could be fun for bigger kids to get to the big slide. Since we had the whole playground to ourselves, I let her climb up the big slide to enjoy it, rather than try to cross the bridge she could easily fall through. Despite some shaded areas, my daughter said the big slide was too hot for her to slide on around 10 a.m. Area: There are walking trails you can take advantage of. The trails go along a stream and it was .5 miles, round trip from the parking lot to the end and back. The trails are shaded, which was nice. I saw a lot of dog owners on the trails while I was exploring. There are some pull up bars by the playground. There is also tennis courts and basketball courts. I definitely recommend this fun little park and playground.
