There is no public restroom and it's not as big as I'd like it to be for this area. There is so much room surrounding the fenced in area but not a lot of actual room for the dogs. Sure there are a few park benches to sit around at but there is no shade. How boring for the dogs.... Only nice thing to say is that it's in a decent neighborhood so there's that.

The day we visited with Hiapo he had two new friends to meet. I'd suggest taking your pups early in the morning or in the evening as there is no shade for them save for under the benches. For us, it's extra special because it's right across the street from our home, making it so convenient to enjoy. The park is well maintained weekly through our community fees, and the trees here are amazing--the ulu provides food, and the puakenikeni blossoms are perfect for making lei. We've even been able to spread a few lauhala seeds, adding to the natural beauty. Konane Park is truly a gathering place that reflects the spirit of Ho'opili.

I love how the times I have taken my boys, they usually get the whole park to themselves along with a couple other friends. This is a huge gated field. There is a small area for the smaller dogs and the bigger area for the big dogs. There's 3 trash cans on the far sides of the park in the big area. There's 1 trash can near the middle of the small dog park area. I would suggest a trash can near an exit but the smell would be horrid. This dog park also has 5 mango trees nearby.

Technically this is a "private park" for Ohana of the Military communities. But I dont think its really enforced. There is NO private parking lot, parking is street parking. There is a rubbish can. This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. Upside, there's 3 tables if you want to kau kau as well! Hoalauna Community Park hits all the aspects you'd want for everyone! Let me tell you, it's a "ONE STOP SHOP"!

Your fur babies, too! 2 dog parks, multiple exercise equipments, playground for your little ones, picnic tables for you parents and kupuna's, an entire 30+ space parking lot, CLEAN restrooms; need I say more? There is also a ginormous grassy area that can be great to let your little ones one freely without getting too close to the road. One downside to the park; there isn't much shade. Aside from the minimal tree shade, and the shade from the umbrella partially covering the playground, there's not much to work with. Fixable by bringing your own umbrella (: We love this park! Mahalo to the previous yelper who mentioned that they allow parties here (with a permit). I'll definitely be looking into that for future events!

We took notice of its soft opening on January 31, 2020, as we were just next door at the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park while out on our daily walk. We returned on February 7th to watch its Grand Opening ceremony. Secondly, I wondered about how this off-leash dog park would accommodate different sized dogs and energy levels (much like how the Mother Waldron Park separates children's' activities from the older junior ages and adults) since this dog park is nearly 8,000 square foot swath of land in between Mother Waldron Park's basketball courts and the walkway by Fisher Hawaii on Pohukaina Street. The rectangular-shaped dog park doesn't have a water fountain or separate areas for small or large dogs. Although there are signs posted with rules for the safety of your furry friend or family member and owner and hours of operation along the chain link fence entrance. There should be poop bags available so dog owners should make sure to pick up after their dog. If there's none, I would think that most responsible dog owners carry spare plastic bags. I hope to see more dogs and their human parents spending more time outdoors even during these difficult COVID times. Social distancing between humans is encouraged and maybe even between the furry friends (just in case of possible animal transmission). Maybe we'll see you there as we pass by or stop to vicariously enjoy watching the dogs frolic in this park.
